Austin Czarnik scores pretty goal after solo effort through Denver defense (Video)
It was a light Friday night in the NHL with only three games, so presumably many general managers got to see what Austin Czarnik did during the semifinals of the NCHC Tournament.
With Miami University up 3-1 on Denver late in the second period, the undrafted free agent forward took it upon himself to dance through the Pioneers’ defense for a beautiful goal.
That’s a whole 14 seconds that Czarnik possessed the puck without even a threat of losing it. Denver, as you probably noticed, was not shorthanded on the play either. And yes, that was Travis Zajac's little brother, Nolan (No. 11), trying to keep up during the entire sequence.
The RedHawks went on to cruise to a 6-3 victory, setting up a meeting with St. Cloud State in the tournament final Saturday night.
The 22-year old Czarnik has scored nine goals and put up 42 points in 38 games this season. Seven of those goals have come in his last five games. Whenever Miami’s season comes to an end, he’ll be eligible to be signed by any NHL team.
