Conn Smythe Watch: Henrik Lundqvist saves the Rangers and everything else

Welcome to our Conn Smythe Watch, which chronicles the ever-changing race for playoff MVP. Keep in mind that we factor in the probability of a long playoff run into these choices. Who are the current favorites for playoff MVP? Glad you asked.

1. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

His clutch play in elimination games in Round 2 is the stuff of legend. He’s got a .945 save percentage and a 1.56 GAA in 13 games. The backbone of the Rangers, and by far their best player in the postseason.

2. Corey Perry, Anaheim Ducks

Perry has 15 points in 10 games, although he was held scoreless in Game 1 against Chicago. That’s best in the postseason.

3. Tyler Johnson, Tampa Bay Lightning

Johnson still leads the playoffs with eight goals and picked up an assist in Game 1 against the Rangers, his 13th point.

4. Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks

The 2013 Conn Smythe winner has 13 points in 11 games, best on the Blackhawks. That includes five power-play points.

5. Frederik Andersen, Anaheim Ducks

Andersen is 9-1 overall with a 1.86 GAA and a .930 save percentage. He’s now 9-0 at home overall in his playoff career, and NHL record start.

6. Duncan Keith, Chicago Blackhawks

Keith has 10 points in 11 games for Chicago, skating to a plus-7 with 30:25 (!) average time on ice.

7. Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks

A wrecking ball on the forecheck, Getzlaf has generated 13 points in 10 games for the Ducks.

8. Derek Stepan, New York Rangers

Stepan has scored some big goals for the Rangers, including an OT winner, and is tied for the team lead with nine points.

9. Ben Bishop, Tampa Bay Lightning

Bishop has a 1.82 GAA and a .931 save percentage in winning eight games for the Bolts.

10. Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks’ other one-time Conn Smythe winner has 11 points in 11 games, and plays tough minutes with linemates Brandon Saad and Marian Hossa.
