LA Mayor Eric Garcetti drops F-bomb at Kings Stanley Cup rally (Video)

Now that we’ve seen two of them in three years, we’ve come to the conclusion that dropping profanities on the arena mic has become an unofficial tradition at Los Angeles Kings’ Stanley Cup championship celebrations.

In 2012, goalie and MVP Jonathan Quick was a few F-bombs away from a full Chris Rock routine during the Kings’ celebration at Staples Center.

In 2014, the most memorable profane moment came not from a player or coach or GM … it came from THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES.

That’s Eric Garcetti, deciding to speak the native tongue of hockey players and fans in his speech at the Kings’ Stanley Cup rally on Monday in Los Angeles. For the video impaired:

“There are a few rules in politics. They say never, ever be pictured with a drink in your hand. And never swear. But this is a big [expletive] day.”

And then he raised a drink.

Garcetti has every reason to be drunk with victory, as his counterpart will have to pay the price for the New York Rangers losing in the Stanley Cup Final. Via KPCC:

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio put something major on the line over the Stanley Cup: The power of song. Despite Garcetti's known love for showtunes, the singer, thanks to the L.A. Kings' victory, will be de Blasio.

If New York had won, Garcetti would have had to sing "New York, New York" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," but instead, de Blasio has to deliver the Randy Newman classic, "I Love L.A.," on an upcoming episode of "Kimmel." Garcetti's also scheduled to appear on that episode to rub it in a little.

OK, it wasn’t all perfect for the mayor. May we suggest a field trip to the Hockey Hall of Fame to visit Luc Robitaille’s plaque?
