NAHL team forced to wear opponent’s road jerseys after forgetting their own (Photo)
Hockey team equipment staffs have some of the toughest jobs in the sport. They're at the rink before the players arrive and they are there way after the players have gone home. There's laundry to do. Stitching to be done, as well as tending to the specific needs of each individual player.
So maybe we can forgive the equipment staff of the NAHL's Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees a pass for what happened on Thursday night.
While traveling to Corpus Christi, Texas to take on the IceRays, the Killer Bees somehow forgot a pretty important piece of equipment: their jerseys.
As you see above, the Rio Grande Valley had to wear the Corpus Christi's black road jerseys. For fans at American Bank Center, it might have looked like an intra-squad scrimmage, but it wasn't as the IceRays came out on top 2-1.
At least the Killer Bees were able to borrow decent uniforms from the IceRays and not some old, ratty jerseys found in a dusty storage closet.
The two sides play again Friday night in Rio Grande, where the Killer Bees will wear the correct jerseys. Let's hope the Corpus Christi equipment staff packed their road jerseys first.
