NHL 15 sim predicts Ducks as Stanley Cup champs over NY Rangers

EA Sports likes to use its NHL game every spring to simulate the Stanley Cup Playoffs and crown a champion. Like many of the predictions you and I reveal every season, they never are correct.

Here’s who the NHL game sims have predicted as Cup champs the last seven postseasons and what round they were eliminated in:

2008: San Jose Sharks (2nd round)

2009: Boston Bruins (2nd round)

2010: Pittsburgh Penguins (2nd round)

2011: Vancouver Canucks (Stanley Cup Final)

2012: New York Rangers (Conference Final)

2013: St. Louis Blues (1st round)

2014: Boston Bruins (2nd round)

If this is any hint, in just a few short weeks we’ll add the Anaheim Ducks to the list.

On Tuesday, EA Sports announced that their NHL 15 simulation has the Ducks over the New York Rangers in seven games. Ryan Getzlaf is your videogame Conn Smythe winner. Look at how happy they all are!

EA's final four? Ducks and Minnesota Wild out West and a repeat in the East with the Montreal Canadiens versus the New York Rangers.

According to EA, "A simulation is conducted by artificial intelligence and logic of the videogame that uses real-life data from each player. Results are extrapolated by the videogame when two teams match up based on player ratings, line combinations, and include variances such as injuries and hot streaks to give a realistic outcome of a game or series."

As if the Ducks didn't have enough to worry about considering their early exit history, now they have to deal with the infamous EA Sports jinx.
