NHL Three Stars: Ducks clinch Pacific; Flyers defeat Malkin-less Penguins

No. 1 Star: Francois Beauchemin, Anaheim Ducks

Beauchemin isn't known as an offensive defenseman. He scored his career-high 11th goal in the Ducks Pacific Division clinching win against the Edmonton Oilers. Beauch also added a helper on a ridiculous Corey Perry goal:

No. 2 Star: Logan Couture, San Jose Sharks

The Sharks stave off almost certain playoff hopes death for another day as they rout Colorado 5-1. Couture scored a goal and added an assist on this incredible play from behind the net to Patrick Marleau for the goal:

No. 3 Star: Brayden Schenn, Philadelphia Flyers

In a game against Pittsburgh that meant absolutely nothing, Schenn put up two goals on Marc-Andre Fleury in the Flyers 4-1 defeat of the Penguins.

Honorable Mention: Although it was in a losing effort, Sidney Crosby scored his 300th NHL goal. By the looks of the play, that Crosby kid has a future in this league:

Jakob Silfverberg had 3 assists in the Ducks win. Andrew Cogliano scored his first ever penalty shot goal on Ben Scrivens. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins netted the only goal for the Oilers ... Congrats to Zach Dalpe for scoring his first goal since March 6, 2014 in Buffalo's 4-3 win against the Leafs. That's not how tanking works, but whatever helps the Sabres sleep at night, I'm all for it ... Every Sharks player was plus-1 or higher against the Avs (put whatever stock you want to into that stat). Colorado blocked 28 shots to San Jose's 13.

Did You Know?

Dishonorable Mention: Perhaps this whole 'pulling the goaltender super early' thing is getting out of hand. Roy pulled Reto Berra and the Sharks scored with 4:05 left in the game. Rinse, repeat, San Jose scored empty netter again 33-seconds later making the score 5-1 ... Ducks rested Ryan Kesler against Edmonton. Pat Maroon left midway through the game with an illness ... Evgeni Malkin did not play due to undisclosed injury. Penguins dressed only 17 skaters, 5 of which were defensemen, due to cap issues in regards to replacing injured players in the lineup ... San Jose's Scott Hannan took a puck to the face and left the game immediately, holding a glove up to cover the bleeding wound.
