NHL Three Stars: Nystrom scores four, but Preds lose; Jagr ties Mario

No. 1 Star: Eric Nystrom, Nashville Predators

The Predators forward scored four times to increase his season total to 11 goals, but Nashville would blow a 4-2 lead and lose 5-4 after a shootout.

No. 2 Star: Jaromir Jagr, New Jersey Devils

Jagr set up both New Jersey goals as the Devils edged the Washington Capitals 2-1. His two points tie him with Mario Lemieux for 10th all-time on the NHL's assist list. Jagr now has 1,730 points, 25 behind Steve Yzerman for sixth all-time. Cory Schneider made 30 saves for his third straight win. The Devils now have points in eight of their last nine games.

No. 3 Star: Ryan O'Reilly, Colorado Avalanche

O'Reilly scored his 19th of the season and later assisted on Jamie McGinn's 11th as the Avalanche built up a 3-0 lead. They would fight off a Florida Panthers' comeback and hang on for a 3-2 win. The victory was Colorado's fifth in their last six games.

Honorable mention: Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves for his ninth win in 11 starts ... Reto Berra made a stunning skate save in the shootout to clinch the Flames' comeback ... David Jones scored twice in the third period to force overtime for the Flames ... With 36 saves from Mike Smith, the Phoenix Coyotes were able to halt an Edmonton Oilers comeback and hang on for a 4-3 victory. Mike Ribeiro had a goal and an assist as the Coyotes built up a 4-0 cushion in the second period ... David Perron showed off some sweet hands for his 19th of the season:

Jonas Gustavsson made 30 saves and Gustav Nyquist, Niklas Kronwall and Henrik Zetterberg each had a goal and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings dispatched the Montreal Canadiens 4-1. Zetterberg also went 18-for-22 in the face-off circle. Detroit has now won consecutive games at Joe Louis Arena for the first time since Oct. 12-15 ... Riley Sheahan tallied his second career NHL goal with this snipe past Carey Price:

One highlight for Price, however, was this glove save on Brendan Smith:
