Saluting the awesome Texas Stars Military Appreciation Weekend jersey (PHOTO)

The Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, had a Military Appreciation Weekend last November, featuring “Stars and Stripes” jerseys that were very Captain America. But their second Military Appreciation Weekend jerseys, for the weekend of March 22-23, are straight up G.I. Joe.

That. Is. Awesome. If only because they're more distinct than the usual "desert warfare" ones NHL teams wear.

From the Stars:

On Friday night (Mar. 22) the Stars will debut their jerseys against the Rochester Americans and on Saturday (Mar. 23) Brigadier General Dean Milner, deputy commanding general III Corps and Fort Hood will drop the ceremonial first puck.

This is Texas' second Military Appreciation Weekend of the season. At the first one in November, which featured a "Stars & Stripes" themed jersey, the team donated 1,700 tickets to military families through the support of fans and sponsors and raised over $31,000 through the jersey auction.

That’s captain Maxime Fortunus rocking the camo.

Someone get one of these to David Booth so he can finally marry his life’s twin passions: hockey and sneakin’ up on critters to kill them.
