U.S. Olympic hockey players T.J. Oshie and Gigi Marvin were once homecoming royalty

T.J. Oshie became the king of Sochi after scoring the game-winning goal against Russian during Saturday’s preliminary round hockey contest, but to Warroad, Minn., a town of about 1,800 people, Oshie already had royal roots.

Oshie and women’s Olympic hockey player Gigi Marvin – former high school classmates - were the King and Queen of the 2005 Frosty Festival, which was the high school’s annual winter dance.

From the looks of Oshie’s hair, it seems like the festival wasn’t the only thing that was frosty.

Warroad, Minn., has quite a bit of hockey history. It is dubbed “Hockeytown USA” because it has sent eight players to the Olympics and those players have brought back three gold medals and two silvers, including the silver Marvin brought home in 2010.

We can only hope Oshie and Martin are able to bring Warroad more medals so they can recreate this photo.
