Winning is my obsession and I will find a way to do it

Serena Williams was again victorious in a Grand Slam final to win her fourth Wimbledon title and 13th Major.

Her resume is starting to look like that of a legendary champion.

Serena and Rafael Nadal constantly remind us of who they are by sending strong messages: "Winning is my obsession and I will find a way to do it".

That's what strikes me the most about them.

They never think of losing and fight as hard as they can to avoid defeat.

Isn't that the way of showing us the will to win that defines them the most?

I had the same feelings watching Nadal against Robin Soderling and Andy Murray.

Rafa won the French Open with his amazing defence. He put back balls in play so many times, no-one could pass him and he imposed a harsh rhythm during rallies.

I did say this defensive game would not be enough for Rafa to win Wimbledon, that he would need to find more offensive weapons to avoid being caught too early in the point.

That's exactly what he did in his quarter-final match against Soderling. He played a highly offensive match.

He was outplayed in the first set but reacted like a true champion.

He had very good statistics with his serve, even managed to trouble Andy Murray in his
semi-final, who had touble returning it.

It says a a lot considering Andy is one of the best returners in the world.

I have the same feeling with Serena.

She knew subconsciously that her serve statistics would have to be very high in order to win this Wimbledon edition.

Serena did it, managed to find the full efficiency of her serve for this event and lifted the trophy as a result.

In the first set of the match against Vera Zvonareva we felt she could lose the match when she started being too tentative during rallies.

However her serve was so big that the pressure was on the Russian's serve.

In the second set the American started to relax and won most of the baseline rallies to win 6-3 6-2.

Mountain elephant legend Hannibal's quote is the same as Serena or Rafa's :"We will either find a way or make one".

That's the true spirit of a champion and that's what our French players miss.

They have great games but desperately don't have the spirit needed to win Majors.
