Paris St-Germain are back on top of Ligue 1 and their return to form also sees them rocket up this week's European Power Rankings.

Talk of a crisis at the French capital club has now been shelved after Carlo Ancelotti's side capped a good run with a third straight win, a 1-0 victory over Lyon, at the weekend.

That, along with their qualification for the knockout stage of the Champions League, means a dodgy patch in November - which saw them win just four points in five domestic games - has been well and truly consigned to the history books.

And net gain of 63 points over the past seven days ensures Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co. are this week's biggest winners in our ranking of the continent's elite teams, moving up three places to 15th.

Dropping three to flip-flop neatly with PSG are French rivals Lyon, who were on the receiving end of that 1-0 scoreline at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

Otherwise, there is very little movement in our table of Europe's finest, with just Tottenham and Schalke shifting this week; Spurs rise into the top 20 after their 1-0 win over Swansea while the Bundesliga side drop out following a 3-1 reverse at home to Freiburg.

At the top, Real Madrid's 2-2 draw at home to Espanyol sees them drop further off the pace set by Barcelona in La Liga - and also in our rankings. A bad week for Jose Mourinho's team ended with a net loss of 63 points - the biggest drop of all over the past seven days.

It means Barca extend their lead at the top of the pile, which is now over 250 points.

HOW IT WORKS

To determine our Power Rankings, we use the Euro Club Index, which scientifically analyses hundreds of thousands of matches from the top divisions in all European nations as well as Europa League and Champions League games.

The Index takes into account all matches played over an eight-year period but with recent results carrying more weight than older ones.

The performance of a league's teams in the Champions League and Europa League reflects the rise or fall of the sporting level in that league.

So, for example, if English teams perform well in Europe, all Premier League teams receive a small bonus in their ECI score. The ranking and its predictive power are thus made even more accurate.
