Zlatan tells Klopp live on TV: I’ll play for Dortmund for free

Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony wasn’t only a chance to recognise Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest player in the world – it also offered an opportunity for networking at the very highest level.

Bumping into each other during the gala event were Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp.

Ibrahimovic was in Zurich to collect the Puskas Award for the best goal of 2013 – his amazing overhead kick against England (which was actually scored in 2012) – while Klopp was beaten to the Coach of the Year award by Jupp Heynckes.

However, the two men took the chance to have a little chat in front of the TV cameras, and the subject soon turned to Ibrahimovic’s club future….

ZI: “When are you bringing me to Dortmund?”

JK: “Oh please, I will have to sell the whole team.”

ZI: “No, I come for free.”

JK: “You come for free? [to the TV cameras] Did you hear what he said??”

ZI: “I’ll come for free to Dortmund. This [conversation] is not for the president of Paris.”

So, if the summer comes around and Ibrahimovic does end up moving to Germany – having played in Sweden, Holland, Italy, Spain and France already – this little clip might end up being the first ever televised tapping-up.
