Often some of the funniest, most interesting and quirky moments at huge sports events go almost unnoticed, rarely featured in reports or blog posts.
So here are five ridiculous things you may not have already seen or heard about from the last few days in Brazil with the World Cup bringing us all some wonderful stories.
Did you see anything particularly noteworthy that passed off without mention? Feel free to bring it to our attention in the comments section below...
1) WHAT A MAGNIFICENT MAN - Incredible footage of World Cup star handing out money to disadvantaged locals
From a footballing perspective, the World Cup has been an absolute success, with Saturday’s games once again providing some supreme entertainment. However, there has been an almost constant backdrop of social discontent and protest against the cost of the tournament in a country that is still, in places, riven by poverty.
However, Ghanaian player Sulley Muntari decided to take matters into his own hands last week when he took to the streets to meet members of the local community in Maceio.
Not only did he take time to speak to the locals but he also incredibly dipped into his own pocket to hand out to those who are less fortunate than himself. You can watch the incredible footage for yourself above.

2) WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, CRISTIANO? - Ronaldo reveals bizarre new World Cup haircut
Let's be honest, who are we to criticise a style icon and footballing genius? But we are still going to at least question this latest offering given the mad zig-zags across the sides of his head. It seems only right to do so.
Is this the worst haircut on show at the World Cup? We certainly would not go that far, but Ronaldo has certainly made sure that if Portugal do recover and progress from their group, his goals are going to be remembered for much more than simply footballing reasons.

3) OOPS, HAS THIS PHOTO GIVEN AWAY HIS MOVE? - Zoomed in snap suggests which English club star could join
France star Paul Pogba is, perhaps reassuring to us mere mortals, also a huge fan of the insanely addictive computer game, Football Manager. And such is his love of the game that he has been playing while on flights in Brazil and a French Football Federation cameraman zoomed in to have a look at his team.
It makes interesting reading – he is a playing as Chelsea and has signed HIMSELF to play in their central midfield. So could this mean that the outrageously talented midfielder could be on his way to Chelsea?

Erm, well, if he does then he may be disappointed, as he has himself lining up alongside Frank Lampard, who has been released by the London club. Also, there's no sign of new signing Cesc Fabregas in his side. What's up with that?

4) WOW, YOU ARE ONE VERY LUCKY PERSON - Late Messi strike saves VERY fortunate punter a fortune
Lionel Messi came to the rescue of Argentina when he whipped a arching effort into the net to beat a stubborn Iran side 1-0 on Saturday. However, unbeknownst to Messi, his strike will have been met with a huge sigh of relief from one punter in America.
With Argentina overwhelming favourites to beat the Iranians, one confident gambler in Las Vegas backed Argentina to the tune of $350,000 (£205,000).
The stake secured the punter $30,000 (£17,000) but it looked for a very long time that they could have been looking at a substantial loss. Just imagine the stress of looking at those slips as the clock ticked to 90 minutes.

5) WAIT, THIS LOOKALIKE IS ACTUALLY A WHAT? - Ronaldo poses with a look-a-like melon - yes, really
Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to vanity, and the World Player of the Year has now been photographed alongside a melon carved to look like the Portuguese superstar.
In preparation for the World Cup, a Brazilian chef took it upon himself to use watermelons as a canvas to carve out sculptures of the biggest names that would be showcasing their talent in the finals – with Ronaldo his piece de resistance.
Pictures of Rogerio Holanda’s creative cantaloupes went viral, so much so that even Cristiano Ronaldo caught eye of the ‘art’. Upon Portugal’s arrival in Manaus ahead of their clash with the USA, Ronaldo posed with a photo of the chef’s creation and posted it on his personal Twitter account. Cracking stuff.
