Ian Austin, a Labour member of parliament, tweeted his disgust after watching Luis Suarez score for Uruguay against England at the World Cup.

The MP for Dudley, who describes himself on his verified Twitter account as a 'cyclist and Villa fan' tweeted two messages after Suarez scored the opener in Uruguay's 2-1 win over England that ultimately knocked England out of the World Cup.

In both messages, Austin called the controversial Liverpool striker 'racist,' 'violent' and a 'cheat" and retweeted another tweet from a user who told him "you forgot Cannibal".

At the time of writing the messages remain on his Twitter profile.

Suarez scored both goals in his nation's 2-1 win in Sao Paulo but has had his critics in England and served bans after being found guilty of biting and using a racial slur against Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

Suarez was highly emotional after scoring his goals and the match and admitted the criticism he has received in England inspired his performance.

"Before the game too many people in England laughed about my attitude over the last few years," he said.

"This is a very good time for me. I want to see what they think now.

"It was one of the best games I've played. It's an amazing moment for me. Maybe a few days ago I thought this wouldn't be possible."

Austin, 49 has been the Member of Parliament for Dudley North since 2005. He was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Communities and Local Government from 2009 to 2010.
