From sixty matches on the Paris clay, Rafael Nadal has won 59.

The Spaniard's record title at the weekend is a remarkable run of dominance, for sure. One to which few can compare notes in any sport.

Few, however, not none. There are a few sporting runs which measure up to Rafa's Roland Garros feats, and in honour of Nadal's eighth trophy, we have picked out eight other great dynasties across various sporting events.

1) MICHAEL SCHUMACHER, FORMULA 1

Seven world championships spanning just over a decade, including five on the bounce to kick off the 21st century. Years won: 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004.

2) STEPHEN HENDRY, SNOOKER

Seven world titles - including his own five-year run of domination - overtook 1980s king Steve Davis. Years won: 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1999.

3) MANCHESTER UNITED, PREMIER LEAGUE

Since the re-invention of the top flight in 1992, United have won 13 of the 21 titles up for grabs under the guidance of now-retired Sir Alex Ferguson. Years won: 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013.

4) EDWIN MOSES, 400m HURDLES

The American claimed Olympic gold at Montreal '76 and Los Angeles '84, as well as at the '83 and '87 World Championships. He won 107 consecutive finals (122 consecutive races) and set the world record in his event four times.

5) ARMIN ZOEGGELER, LUGE WORLD CUP

The Italian enjoyed a six-year stronghold of the World Cup championship which was ended in 2011 by two-time winner Felix Loch. Years won: 1998, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

6) WEST INDIES, TEST CRICKET

For 15 years between 1980 and 1995, the Windies were unbeaten in the sport's full-length format, administering thrashings and "blackwashes" every step of the way.

7) NICOLE COOKE, BRITISH WOMEN'S CYCLING

Cooke, gold medallist at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, spent almost an entire decade being untouchable in the British women's road race stakes. Years won: 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009.

8) PHIL TAYLOR, DARTS

Darts' greatest ever player and its first millionaire performer, 'The Power' has won 16 world championships (14 PDC, two BDO) and counting. Years won: 1990, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2013.
