  • Shocking scenes as player throws dog at fence

Warning: some may find video disturbing

Judging by his recent actions, Jose Jimenez of Argentinian lower league side Belle Vista is probably not a PETA member.

During a match in the Tucumán Province against San Juan, a playful stray dog entered the field of play. Jimenez decided the best course of action was to pick it up by its neck and attempt to hurl it over a metal fence.

The dog hit the fence and bounced back onto the field — apparently unharmed — but the shocking behaviour was met with a torrent of abuse from the San Juan fans and a deserved red card.

The disgraced Jimenez may as well

  • You've heard of people applying for jobs citing "Football Manager" triumphs on their CVs, but Namibia have just appointed a boss who was inspired to coach by the notoriously addictive computer game.

Ricardo Mannetti, 38, will be thrown into the deep end on Wednesday when Nambia host African champions Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier.

Mannetti won more than 60 caps for his country, played at the African Cup of Nations finals and was a professional in the league in neighbouring South Africa.

But he had no desire to coach and was only inspired to become a manager after hours of Football Manager

  • Paddy Power fall for ‘United sign Lewandowski’ fake

Bookmakers Paddy Power fell for an online prank that claimed Robert Lewandowski had joined Manchester United.

A photoshopped image was doing the rounds on Twitter, claiming United had signed Borussia Dortmund's in-demand Polish striker.

It featured made-up quotes from United boss David Moyes and the player, plus a fake byline for a contributor to United’s website.

Renowned bookmakers Paddy Power fell for the stunt though, and even went so far as to accuse United of publishing the article in error before removing it from their website.

  • A quite stunning victory for Calidoscopio in the Brooklyn Handicap at Belmont Park has provided vindication for the never-say-die optimists of this world.

Calidoscopio, a 7/1 shot, set off slowly in the £129,000 race and by the half-way point of the 1.5-mile distance was at least 25 lengths off the lead.

Such a poor performance no doubt led some observers to think it was time to put the horse out to stud, but then followed one of the most remarkable comebacks you are likely to ever see.

As the horses entered the far turn, Calidoscopio began to click through the gears, gaining ground quickly

Trayvon Brommell became the first American prep runner to break 10 seconds in the 100 — Bay 9 News screengrabTrayvon Brommell became the first American prep runner to break 10 seconds in the 100 — Bay 9 News screengrab

Albeit with a heavy tailwind at his back, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Gibbs High senior Trayvon Bromell became the first American schoolboy to eclipse 10 seconds in the 100-meter dash.

The Baylor University-bound sprinter won the event at the Great Southwest Classic with a time of 9.99 seconds on the University of New Mexico track. While remarkably impressive, his effort does not qualify as the national record due to a tailwind of 4.0 meters per second.

That honor still belongs to former Groveland (Fla.) South Lake High star Jeff Demps, whose time of 10.01 seconds at the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials

  • Chad Johnson, at one point one of the NFL’s best wide receivers with the Cincinnati Bengals, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating probation in a domestic violence case.

The case, stemming from an initial offense against ex-wife Evelyn Lozada, looked as though it would end without the need for any jail time to be served as Johnson and his attorney attempted to negotiate a plea deal.

However, the comedy antics of the 35-year-old – who once legally changed his surname to ‘Ochocinco’ so he could have the Spanish for his squad number of 85 included on his jersey – would prove to be

  • For Boston Marathon bombing survivor Karen Rand, Saturday's experience at US Cellular Field in Chicago was one she will absolutely never forget.

Prior to the Chicago White Sox game against the Oakland Athletics, Rand, who had her left leg amputated below the knee following the horrific attack on April 15, was given the honour of throwing out the game's ceremonial first pitch.

It was a very cool scene and an even better feeling to be sure, but it's how Rand received the opportunity that makes her experience even more remarkable and memorable.

  • Goalkeeper’s horror show in 21-0 defeat

It's often hard to judge who is more deserving of the blame for a heavy defeat: the goalkeeper or the defenders supposedly protecting them.

After watching these highlights of Jordan women's vicious 21-0 destruction of Kuwait in Asian Cup qualifying, however, this keeper appears to do enough to 'outshine' the back four.

Jordan were 6-0 up just 20 minutes in, and though they were partly spurred on by the need of an 18-goal winning margin to secure top spot in their group on goal difference, Kuwait appear just as keen to get them to that scoreline.

Goal number 14 is particularly cringeworthy, as

  • Two brilliant passes – but which one is better?

Occasionally at World of Sport we are presented with a video of a brilliant pass that makes us rub our eyes in disbelief.

On Monday, though, we stumbled across two.

We couldn't decide which was better so we thought we'd let you have your say. Here are the two contenders...

    1. The Rabona

Atletico Tucuman beat Almirante Brown in a 4-3 thriller in Argentina’s second division with the winner coming from an audacious Alejandro Pena rabona pass.

    2. Ronaldinho

The legendary Brazilian bagged a brace in Atletico Mineiro's win over Gremio and nearly set up another with a sensational chest pass.
