Sochi, the host city for the 2014 Winter Olympics, is a summer resort. So eyebrows were raised when it was awarded an event synonymous with ice and snow.
But never fear when the Russian state machine is involved – last winter they started hoarding tonnes of the white stuff in anticipation of the upcoming Games, which start on February 7 next year.
And with under four months to go, organisers are breaking out the snow.
