Brazilian football has a new star by the unlikely name of Mahatma Gandhi.

The 20-year-old Atletico Goianense midfielder was a smash hit as he made his debut for the Brazilian top flight club, orchestrating his side's 3-1 win over a start-studded Internacional side at the weekend.

Chris Brown: Now  found at Doncaster Rovers after turning out for clubs including Preston and Sunderland. The other Brown is best known for singing songs and incidents of domestic violence involving Rihanna, who we don't have a namesake for playing football. As yet.

Socrates: One of the best Brazilian footballers of all time who made his name as captain of a glorious side at the 1982 World Cup finals. And some other bloke, who is credited with being a founder of Western philosophy. Which is all good, but he could he hit a free-kick like the other Socrates? We think not.

John Kennedy: His finest moment was helping Celtic earn a 0-0 draw at Barcelona in the 2004 Uefa Cup last 16. The Glasgow side reached the quarter-finals where they lost to Villarreal in the next round. Had his career curtailed by a horror tackle in a Scotland match. The other Kennedy was president of some country. We can't remember which one.
