Turkey striker Burak Yilmaz received the wrong kind of Christmas cracker as he played for Galatasaray against former club Trabzonspor.
Yilmaz moved to Galatasaray in the summer and received a hostile reception from his old fans, but matters got out of hand in shocking scenes of crowd unrest.
Just before the hour mark, an object hit Yilmaz on the head, causing him to fall to the ground.
As Trabzonspor defender Giray Kacar came across to tend to his ex-team-mate, a firework exploded near the pair.
The players had a lucky escape, however, and were able to continue after receiving medical treatment. The match finished goalless.
Yilmaz scored 55 goals in 75 league games for Trabzonspor, and has found the net nine times this season for his new club.
He is reportedly a January transfer target for Liverpool.
