Santa Claus is on the shortlist to be named the official mascot of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

A Russian television station is running a competition whereby viewers can vote for their favourite and 'Grandfather Frost' (Ded Moroz in Russian), as the Father Christmas character is called there, is among the 11 contenders.

The Russian Santa Claus has no link to Saint Nicholas or indeed any religious link, and gives out presents over the course of New Year's Eve and Day.

Amongst the other contenders to get the mascot role are a dolphin on skis, a snow leopard with a snowboard, and both a regular brown bear and a polar bear.

Have a look at the candidates below and tell us who your favourite is.
