Jeremy Lin air ball goes over backboard

Just over two years ago, something called Linsanity was gripping the NBA. Now playing key minutes off the bench for the Houston Rockets, Jeremy Lin is a long way from the phenomenon that spawned a documentary — but he's still a vital part of the playoff team's rotation. Alas, there was a moment during the squad's heartbreaking 122-120 overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers Sunday night that many Rockets fans are still wondering about. Guarded closely by Nicolas Batum in the second quarter with Houston up 44-35, Lin put up a fadeway jumper from nine feet away. Not only did the ball not draw iron or touch the backboard, it went over the backboard. The errant shot appeared to baffle Rockets head coach Kevin McHale. Lin finished with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field — but, oh, that miss.
