    • 90+4' There's the final whistle, and Arsenal have been very impressive tonight. They advance into the quarter-finals for the eighth season in a row, while Newcastle have a 4-0 home defeat to contemplate ahead of their North-East derby against Sunderland this weekend.
    • 90+2' It's Carroll's turn now to race onto a long ball over the top, but Szczesny stands tall and blocks the big striker's effort.
    • 88' GOAL!!! Walcott has his second of the game, and Arsenal's fourth. Once again he sprints onto Koscielny's pass, races clear of the Newcastle defence, and this time elects to plant his finish low past the onrushing Krul and into the bottom corner.
    • 86' Brilliant save from Szczesny to keep out Ryan Taylor's goalbound free-kick!!! Incredibly, nobody was following up for Newcastle, so Arsenal were able to clear the rebound easily!
    • 83' GOAL!!! Bendtner curls a sweetly struck shot into the top corner, and it's game over!!! Arsenal broke quickly, Fabregas fed Bendtner on the left flank, he cut inside onto his right foot, and curled the ball right into the corner. Super finish.
    • 83' A corner from Newcastle causes chaos in the Arsenal area, Ranger puts in a great leap to head goalwards, Sczcesny and Taylor are battling for it on the goal-line, and the Pole manages to gather in the nick of time!!!
    • 81' Carroll now runs onto a long ball and cuts inside, but Koscielny dispossesses him.
    • 80' Nothing is quite clicking for Newcastle at the moment. On a few occasions players have slipped at the vital moment, and they're yet to really test Szczesny in this second half.
    • 78' Loose passing from Newcastle gives Arsenal the ball and a chance to break. The Toon can't afford those kind of mistakes at this stage.
    • 75' Gutierrez robs Sagna of possession, and Gutierrez takes it up and charges goalwards, before being hacked down by Sagna! That's a booking for the Arsenal man. Newcastle look to tee up Barton, but it's played well behind the midfielder, and there's no way he can get his shot away.
    • 73' Walcott's pace takes him through the middle of two Newcastle defenders, but an outstretched leg from Perch just nicks the ball away from the flying frontman.
    • 71' Fabregas is on for Vela for Arsenal as Wenger looks to shore things up, and Barton replaces Smith for Newcastle.
    • 69' Ryan Taylor now warms the palms of Szczesny, though the Polish 'keeper was never going to be beaten by that.
    • 66' The lively Gutierrez cuts in from the left and fires in a low cross looking for Carroll that is blocked out for a corner. Guthrie pumps it in, but Ranger plants his back-post header wide.
    • 61' Walcott lines up a free-kick from distance, but it strikes the first man and rolls out for a corner. Rosicky swings it in, Djourou gets the flick on, but Carroll clears.
    • 57' Gutierrez is on for Routledge for Newcastle, and Carroll replaces Lovenkrands.
    • 54' GOAL!!! Arsenal lead 2-0, and it's Theo Walcott with a fine finish, though Newcastle are furious with the challenge of Bendtner on Williamson!!! A long kick out from Krul was headed straight back beyond the Newcastle defence by Djourou, the offside Bendtner jogged back, but as Walcott raced onto it, Bendtner appeared to deliberately block Williamson, who was charging back at full pelt. it was needless, as Walcott was never going to be caught, and the big Dane is fortunate that went unpunished.
    • 49' Fine persistance from Ranger on the left flank, who bundles Djourou over and charges into the box, before Koscielny comes across to block. The Arsenal players weren't happy with that rather "robust" challenge on Djourou, but the referee saw nothing wrong with it.
    • 46' Arsenal get the second half underway.
    • 45+3 And there's the half-time whistle! Arsenal lead 1-0 thanks to that own-goal. To be fair, they have been the better side in what has been an entertaining, open first-half.
    • 45+2' GOAL!!! Arsenal have the lead right on the stroke of half-time, and it's a cruel deflection off Krul!!! A corner, initially cleared by Newcastle, was floated back in to Bendtner, he flicked it on towards Koscielny, who got the feintest of touches that took it past Krul. Taylor was on the line, but headed the ball straight into Krul's head directly in front of him and it rebounded back across the line. Agonising to watch for the Toon faithful.
    • 45' Brilliant intricate passing from Arsenal sees them go right through the middle of the Newcastle defence, Vela runs onto it...but takes it too far, and can only salvage a corner.
    • 44' Sagna flights a long, deep cross into Vela at the back post, but he's under heavy pressure from Taylor and can't get enough purchase on the header, which sails well wide.
    • 42' Now Bendtner sees a low drive saved by Krul. He didn't connect brilliantly with that one, and should have made the 'keeper work harder.
    • 40' Eboue goes past Taylor brilliantly down the left wing...both Vela and Bendtner are waiting in the middle, Eboue goes for goal from a tight angle, and smashes it into the side-netting. Well, that one should certainly have gone across goal hard and low. Both Arsenal strikers are looking pretty unimpressed with the Ivorian.
    • 36' Smith dispossesses Denilson in the Arsenal half, it's played through to Lovenkrands who's standing about 15 yards offside, and he knows it as he strokes the ball into the bottom corner past Szczeczny but doesn't even bother to look for the linesman's flag.
    • 34' Routledge beats Eboue for pace - that's no mean feat - then swings in a decent cross that is headed behind for a corner. That's Newcastle's best attacking moment since that screamer from Smith.
    • 33' There's the second in quick succession as Eastmond crunches into Perch after the ball had gone. Perch now has the physio on, though should be fine to continue.
    • 31' A foul is given against Rosicky, and that decision gets an enormous (sarcastic) roar from the crowd. That's the first foul given against an Arsenal player so far.
    • 30' Eboue sets off on an ambitious but slightly wayward run right across the edge of the area, but fails to pick out a team-mate at the end of it. The Gunners still look the more likely team to score, though the Toon defence seems to have got its bearings after being torn apart in the opening minutes.
    • 27' Alan Smith gives the referee a right earful despite clearly bringing down Denilson with a late challenge. What on earth is he complaining about?!? He wasn't booked, and he could hardly deny is was a foul! The game has become a little disjointed over the last five minutes, and the Newcastle fans are becoming irate at a series of "handballs" from Arsenal players that the referee has ignored. Fact is, none of them were deliberate.
    • 23' Eboue releases Walcott down the right with a fine long ball from well inside his own half, Walcott looks for the unmarked Bendtner in the middle...but Williamson is there with a vital block!
    • 22' Eboue takes a very easy tumble after Routledge places his hand lightly on his back by the goal-line. That infuriated the Newcastle fans behind the goal, and understandably so. It seems you can't breathe on a defender who's in possession but under pressure nowadays. Decisions invariably go their way.
    • 19' Gibbs looks like he's still struggling with an injury from that challenge from Routledge earlier. He may well have to come off, and indeed Bacary Sagna has just peeled off his top and walked toward the touchline. He's on for Gibbs.
    • 15' Now Alan Smith strikes an absolute rocket of a volley onto the bar from 30 yards! A superb hit, and replays show Szczeczny got a vital fingertip to it!
    • 14' Having just said that, Ranger sprints onto a superb ball over the top of the Gunners' defence, beats the 'keeper to it, now has two defenders protecting the goal in front of him...BUT KOSCIELNY MAKES THE VITAL BLOCK! The curse of the commentator...
    • 13' Of the two sides Arsenal have made the better start, and are beginning to establish control of the ball in midfield as things settle down. Newcastle are looking to go direct to Ranger when they do win possession, though without too much success at the moment.
    • 9' OUCH! Wayne Routledge caught Kieran Gibbs late with that challenge there. Eboue puts it out for the Arsenal man to receive treatment. This really has been an explosive opening ten minutes. The rest of the match has a lot to live up to!
    • 5' Walcott skins down the right wing and crosses for Vela...but it's behind the striker, and the Newcastle defence can hack it clear to safety. What a start!!!
    • 4' Eboue now cuts in from the right and fires a low left-foot shot that Krul deals with reasonably comfortably.
    • 2' Nile Ranger holds the ball up well in attack for Newcastle as they get into the Arsenal half for the first time, now Haris Vuckic takes it on and drives down the left flank, before smashing the ball into the side-netting! Positive play from the youngster. Half the ground throught that one was in!
    • 2' The corner is flighted deep towards Bendtner at the back post, he gets away two volleys in quick succession, and Krul is there with the save again!
    • 1' Williamson gets caught in possession as the last man already...Vela's one on one with Tim Krul...SAVED!!! What a chance!!! Almost a disastrous start for Newcaslte!!!
    • 1' Newcastle kick off the first half!
    • 19:40 Tonight's referee is Andre Marriner, and he'll be getting us underway in just five minutes time.
    • 19:35 Well, Arsene Wenger vowed he would pick "an 80% first-team" line-up tonight, and it's certainly not far off that. Wojciech Szczesny is a new face in goal, and Craig Eastmond is another one fresh off the Gunners' production line, but all the rest are pretty established names with plenty of Premiership experience. Newcastle have rested roughly half their first team, though still have the likes of Andy Carroll, Jonas Gutierrez and Joey Barton ready on the bench.
    • 19:30 Newcastle United team: Krul, Perch, Williamson, Kadar, Ryan Taylor, Routledge, Guthrie, Smith, Vuckic, Lovenkrands, Ranger. Substitutes: Soderberg, Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Barton, Carroll, Gutierrez, Tiote.
