    • - Right, I'm signing out now to work up the match report for your pleasure - you can catch me on Tweet-land later as I join my Chelsea-supporting friends for a drink. Tom Adams (@tomEurosport) had no reception from his seat but he's in Munich and will be out and about later, so follow him too. Thank you and goodnight! FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • - Wow. Chelsea are in tears, as are Bayern. Lampard can't believe it, and neither can Roman - he'll have to give Robbie Di Matteo a job now. Well then. John Terry has donned his Chelsea kit and is on the pitch with Drogba and Lampard.
    • - Crazed scenes as Chelsea celebrate, Bayern sink to their knees, Drogba is mobbed! Spurs fans aside, England will celebrate this long into the night - a penalty shoot-out win over the Germans!
    • - BAYERN 3-4 CHELSEA Drogba to win it for Chelsea! Will he win the Champions League with his last kick in a Chelsea shirt? YES! HE'S DONE IT! CHELSEA HAVE WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!!
    • - BAYERN 3-3 CHELSEA Schweinsteiger now for Bayern - and he's missed it! Off the post!
    • - BAYERN 3-3 CHELSEA Ashley Cole to take this one - super kick, right of goal, Neuer guessed right but no chance.
    • - BAYERN 3-2 CHELSEA Olic, who leaves Bayern this summer, with his last kick in their shirt - WHAT A SAVE BY CECH! It was a good penalty but he guessed right and palmed clear!
    • - BAYERN 3-2 CHELSEA Lampard scored his penalty in Moscow as Chelsea crashed out - and he bangs this one into the roof of the net.
    • - BAYERN 3-1 CHELSEA Neuer is to take this one, Joe Hart style - and low past Cech into the bottom left but only just!
    • - BAYERN 2-1 CHELSEA Luiz's turn, the Brazilian defender with a long run-up... top right, boom.
    • - BAYERN 2-0 CHELSEA Gomez for Bayern now - bottom right, no problem.
    • - BAYERN 1-0 CHELSEA The jeers are deafening for Mata as he steps up. SAVED BY NEUER! Weak and straight at him!
    • - BAYERN 1-0 CHELSEA Lahm to open things from the spot here - Casillas saved his pen in the semi... IN! But just - Cech got a hand to it! Lucky Lahm!
    • - Lahm wins the toss and chooses his own end, meaning further delay as they swap. That should help them.
    • - Both sides take a well-earned breather as they prepare to take spot-kicks. Di Matteo is busy deciding who takes what as the ref tosses a coin with Lampard and Lahm. Will Torres take one after his poor couple of years? His recent form has been good.
    • - Well what a night, drama-wise. The second time Chelsea have been taken to a penalty shoot-out in the Champions League final. They lost the last one - but John Terry's not there to miss his kick. Will it be tears of agony or joy for the Blues? FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 120+1 And that, my friends, is that - penalties! Your poor hearts...
    • 120' Torres with a neat piece of skill to beat one man, and then he fouls Contento needlessly. Harsh booking though. Ah, backchat.
    • 119' Tymoschuk hits one from range but it strikes Mikel. Then Olic tries and fails to kep it in. Chelsea throw.
    • 118' Malouda trips Van Buyten, who goes down in agony. Surprised he wasn't booked for that little swing. The ref - notoriously strict - has been medium-lenient tonight.
    • 117' Robben to swing this in from 25 yards, on the right, straight at Cech, poor cross.
    • 116' Mikel trips Schweinsteiger. Surprised Mata is still out there. Must be saving him for pens.
    • 115' Drogba shoves Van Buyten as the latter blocks his route to goal.
    • 114' Wild effort high and wide by Robben after - yup, you guessed it - cutting inside from the right.
    • 113' Robben to take this as Cahill is told to go off after going down with cramp. Torres heads clear though.
    • 112' Lahm on the right, superb run again and cross and it bounces up off Gomez and could go in but Luiz chests it out for a corner.
    • 112' Schweinsteiger shows great determination to slide in on Torres and somehow keep the ball in play, setting up a counter attack.
    • 111' Bayern swarm forward as Gomez tries and fails to turn; Olic pings in a low cross, deflected, but Cech keeps it out and holds on.
    • 110' @joeledf kindly pointed out that the last time a Champions League finalist played at home was Roma - who lost. Yikes! FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 109' Cahill clears after clearly being shoved by Olic but the ref misses it, much to the defender's disgust.
    • 108' Lahm on a surging run, he lofts a hanging ball back post that Chelsea watch sail to the unmarked Olic who must score but his first-time volleyed finish spins wide of the far post! Cech just watches helpless and another chance goes begging! What was Bosingwa doing there?
    • 107' Bayern are having a go now. This is a really high-intensity game.
    • 106' The second half of extra time is underway.
    • 105+2 Kroos to take. Van Buyten will be the target, no he isn't, a silly attempt to set up the volley and Drogba clears, time to change ends!
    • 105+1 Olic on the left as we enter added time in the first half of extra-time, and Lampard fouls Contento. Silly.
    • 105' Lampard with a super tackle as Chelsea close out the first half of extra-time in possesson, Drogba offside though.
    • 104' Mata swings it wide right to Torres, he weaves in and out of the defender and fires over a wicked cross but Lahm reads it to get a touch to flick it away from Drogba.
    • 103' Boateng clatters into Torres but Chelsea take it quickly - Robben tackles Mata, but handles after slipping. Free-kick Chelsea 35 yards out.
    • 102' Cool defending from Cole who - apart from losing Mueller at the goal - has been immense. Bosingwa, however, gives it away.
    • 101' Torres wins a corner on the right after combining with Drogba. Ach, no corner, a goal kick, sorry.
    • 100' Bosingwa has grown into the game after a shaky first half as he dispossesses Olic, who is hugging the left touchline.
    • 99' Olic shoves Bosingwa on the Bayern left. This is some drama unfolding.
    • 98' Robben to swing it in but headed clear. Mata's a mess at the moment, knackered, he needs to go off.
    • 97' Taken short, Lahm on the right, his cross is deflected and Van Buyten volleys but blocked by Luiz! Knocked behind for a corner.
    • 96' Luiz takes out Gomez as he got in down the right - Bayern are furious but I don't see a card. Ribery is off, Olic on in his place.
    • 95' Robben with the penalty... AND CECH SAVES IT! Robben hit it low but a touch central, Cech went for the corner and his massive frame kept it out, the keeper holding on to the rebound.
    • 94' Ribery has stayed down after that tickle, looks like cramp as they help him out.
    • 93' Ribery on the ball now, Kroos cuts inside to shoot but blocked. Still with Bayern though and Drogba trips Ribery! Penalty Bayern!
    • 92' It's all Chelsea now as Boateng desperately hacks clear with Mata and Lampard swarming forward.
    • 91' Chelsea go for Bayern from the off, Torres racing in, almost getting tripped by Van Buyten, getting up and finding Mata whose shot is blocked.
    • 91' Extra time is underway!
    • - Well I never. What say? I'm speechless. Will Bayern pay the price for that defensive change? Tweet away. FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 90+4 Drogba places it with what could be his last kick in a Chelsea shirt - if he gets it right. The ref moves the wall... Drogba takes two strides back and blasts it to Hamburg. Extra time.
    • 90+3 Luiz with a cool touch to get away from Robben, Lampard to Mata who is fouled by Ribery and a free-kick to Chelsea at the death! 30 yards out, right centre...
    • 90+2 Neuer with a punch clear but Cole picks it up. Mikel to Mata, he looks inside to Drogba but Lahm gets in the way and Neuer hoofs it. Bayern now on the rack!
    • 90+1 In the first of three added minutes. Kroos pumps it in but Chelsea clear, Torres fouled while doing so.
    • 90' My oh my. Football etc etc. Now Bayern come again, Kroos wide right, nice cross but Luiz headed away before clearing the second ball. Robben has a pop that is deflected wide for a corner.
    • 89' GOAL CHELSEA! DROGBAAAAA! Mata's near-post corner is met by a flying, turning, power header by the Drog, into the top right. What a header, what a leap - what a man!
    • 88' Chelsea have a corner on the right. Mata to take. Inswinger - a bit of nonsense in the bo though, the ref breaks it up.
    • 87' The free-kick is taken short, Ribery runs it out though. Goal kick.
    • 87' BAYERN SUB: Van Buyten replaces Mueller, I assume to play in defence with Tymoschuk moving a touch higher.
    • 86' Luiz with a rash challenge is booked.
    • 85' Robben snatches at a shot from the edge of the box, easy for Cech.
    • 84' CHELSEA SUB: Torres on for Kalou. A somewhat partisan PA gets the crowd roaring Mueller's name.
    • 83' GOAL BAYERN! THOMAS MUELLER! Somehow his downward header, which bounces into the ground at pace, ricochets off the underside of the bar and in! Cole was marking Gomez and Mueller snuck in! High ball from Schweinsteiger.
    • 82' Mueller with a header as a fine cross from Contento found him in the box but Cole was in his way and in the end it's straight at Cech!
    • 81' Mata with a poor pass when Chelsea were breaking and had men over - and now Cole rushes back to cover and clobbers Mueller, a booking.
    • 80' Lots of space for Mata on the right but he delayed too long as Schweinsteiger comes back to clear for a throw. Bosingwa to take a long throw... kicked in the air by Malouda and it seems to hit Ribery in the chest and Chelsea bellow for a penalty but no way, Jose (Bosingwa).
    • 79' Big miss by Mueller! Shambolic defending from Chelsea allowed the ball to bounce to his feet from 10 yards but he drags it wide! Luiz at fault there.
    • 78' Clever from Malouda to win a free-kick off Mueller on the edge of his own box. Slow it right down, get some possession.
    • 77' All Bayern suddenly as Kroos has a shot blocked, now Contento has it but Chelsea have numbers back.
    • 76' Malouda gives it away and then Lampard gets left for dead by Ribery but Cole again flies in from nowhere to block! The cross almost spins in over Cech but he tips it over! Corner.
    • 75' Mueller finds Ribery, now Mueller gets it back but a sliding tackle from Luiz and a throw.
    • 74' Almost panic stations by Bayern for the corner but Kalou's effort is blocked and a shaky Neuer gathers the loose ball.
    • 73' CHELSEA SUB: Bertrand has been far better in the second half but Chelsea need some attacking impetus and he is indeed replaced by Malouda.
    • 73' Looks like Malouda is coming on. But Drobga skins Tymoschuk easily - see! - and he's in acres of space and tries to pick Mata out but Contento intercepts! Corner.
    • 72' Mata sees Bosingwa wide right, brilliant cross from the full-back and KALOU WITH THE HEADER but Boateng gets goal-side of him and Neuer can claim the loose ball!
    • 71' Bayern have a free-kick on the left but Kroos's ball is short, Lampard heading clear. Now Mata comes forward but Tymoschuk intercepts his pass to Drogba. I have to say, for a midfielder, the Ukrainian has done well at the back.
    • 70' Robben plays it low to the edge of the box AND KROOS SHOOTS but blocked by Cole! That was going in!
    • 70' Robben's corner is swung in but headed behind by Bertrand. Another corner, which Luiz heads clear near post.
    • 69' Mueller is let in on the right but Cole flies in with a slide block. Corner.
    • 68' Robben again cuts inside to shoot but again it's blocked. Still Bayern come forward in numbers but Chelsea have responded in kind.
    • 67' A flap from Cech at the corner and Gomez tries a bicycle kick but Luiz blocks! Now Lahm races in, Drogba easing him away to clear - Bayern's fans want a penalty but they're in dreamland if they think that's an option.
    • 66' Lahm turns on the edge of the box but a heavy touch allows Bosingwa to shepherd it back to Cech, who hits it long. Lahm gets another dig on the right, crossing against Cole, corner - though Lahm wanted a penalty for handball - his arms weren't raised.
    • 65' A poor low shot well wide by Robben. 'All day', you can hear Cech say. Now Drogba gets forward but fouls Tymoschuk - they need to put pressure on him, he's a weak point and has not been targeted at all!
    • 64' Ribery on the charge, he cuts inside and tries to find Gomez but plays it behind him and Cole runs it clear.
    • 63' Oh golly. Too many Tweets. Sorry I can't reply - this game is a full-time job, as Robben swings in an inviting cross that Cech gathers.
    • 62' Drogba is back defending well to clear behind for a corner, which Bayern waste.
    • 61' A Chelsea break, well, breaks down, as they all have this half. They need to make some sort of change, I don't know if Malouda's got half an hour in him, or if Sturridge can be trusted in a game of this magnitude.
    • 60' Lampard tries to play his way out of trouble, poor choice as Gomez finds ROBBEN but blocked, Cole with a marvellous spot and brave flying stop!
    • 59' Howls from the 'away' fans as Kalou is punished for a high boot as he got inside Contento.
    • 58' Bayern come again but a hooked clearance from Bosingwa prevents Ribery getting in.
    • 57' Cole with a high cross but Kalou is shoving his marker.
    • 56' Kroos with a long-range effort but well wide. Heynckes bellows abuse at him for not passing.
    • 54' Drogba with a first-time effort from the right wing but straight at a defender. It had been a promising break, speaking of which here come Bayern! Robben shoots from the edge of the box, Cole can only divert it to Ribery who scores! But no! He was offside when the shot was taken, so Cole's touch was irrelevant. Chelsea escape. Cole played him offside, saving his own skin.
    • 53' Cole gives it away, Lahm surges forward but it spins away from him, Gomez latches on to it but Cole clears off the striker and behind for a goal kick. Gomez wanted a penalty but the last time I looked his own feet don't play for Chelsea.
    • 52' Bayern counter now but Cahill shows good pace to get there ahead of Ribery, sliding in to clear.
    • 51' The bal drops to DROGBA FROM RANGE but his half volley bounces wide. Neuer not threatened but an instinctive effort from him.
    • 50' Mueller with some tricky skills on the edge of the box but his centre is deflected into Cech's arms.
    • 49' Chelsea can counter after Luiz's defensive header but Neuer spots the danger, rushing out to clear.
    • 48' Kroos spots a chance from 25 yards but his shot is headed over for a corner. Bayern continuing to boss it.
    • 47' A long ball catches Luiz out and Robben is in! Robben is clean through wide right but Cole appears from nowhere to slide in!
    • 46' Ribery on the run now, he drills in an inviting low cross after getting past Cahill but Luiz slides in to clear. Flag was up anyway, offside.
    • 46' The second half is underway!
    • - No changes at half-time, there was talk of Cahill struggling with his dodgy hamstring but he's back out.
    • - STATS - Possession: Bayern 60-40 Chelsea; Shots on target: Bayern 2-1 Chelsea; Shots off target: Bayern 9-1 Chelsea; Bookings: Bayern 1-0 Chelsea; Corners: Bayern 8-0 Chelsea
    • - Phew. Quite a lot to say about that half: Bayern's possession evokes memories of the Chelsea-Barca epics, while Gomez has been off-radar. Ryan Bertrand, meanwhile, has done little to justify his inclusion, limited going forward and struggling to handle Robben. What do you think? FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 45+1 Half time and it's goalless - Bayern have had more possession but Chelsea have looked likely later in the half. Gomez, meanwhile, has missed a few good chances, which he tends to do under pressure. Don't bet against him though - he also has a knack of shinning in late winners.
    • 45' Ribery gets it in the box but calm defending from Luiz, who dispossesses him to play it clear. One minute added time.
    • 44' Bertrand, who has struggled to get on the ball, fouls Lahm as he gives chase.
    • 43' Chelsea on the move again but Contento tackles Lampard. Good defending while getting back into position.
    • 42' Cole to Mata, surging run from him but the ball inside for Drogba is too close to the defence who clear. Chelsea come again - this is much better from them - as Kalou and Bosingwa trade passes, but Boateng clears. Bayern break now as Robben feeds Mueller, he flicks it to GOMEZ WHO SKINS CAHILL WITH A DUMMY AND SURELY but he blasts it miles over!
    • 41' The ref has what he intimates is a final word with Mikel after a foul. Tymoschuk has a pop from range, it's going wide but Gomez has a flick at it, only to send it wider.
    • 40' Comedy of errors for Bayern! A double shank as Ribery completely mis-hits his shot, which lands perfectly for a Gomez poach but the striker inexplicably takes a touch - which is desperately heavy - and Chelsea scramble it behind.
    • 39' Cole tries to fling one over for Bertrand but it's over his head and out for a goal kick. Cole's bad.
    • 38' An excellent break by Chelsea as Mata finds Drogba, who returns it to the Spaniard with a backheel, a fine ball out wide smashed near post by Kalou but saved by Neuer! Contento looked shaky when confronted with a full-flighted Kalou. See? You must attack Bayern.
    • 37' And Chelsea now break as Lampard lofts it in for Drogba, he's onside but by the time the ball lands on his chest defenders have arrived and the chance is gone.
    • 36' JUST WIDE BY MUELLER! Fantastic flying volley after a brilliant cross from Contento, who was let in by Bosingwa after Ribery's feint and pass. Obviously. The shin did for Mueller.
    • 35' Nice touch from Robben to find Contento, he slips it to Ribery but the shot is well wide. Low and misguided. This is very reminiscent of the Barca games - Chelsea are parking the bus, but that one save aside Cech has been unworried.
    • 34' Mata and Drogba over this free-kick, two yards from the box a touch to the right... Poor from Mata, he curls it up and over the wall - and the bar. Drogba I'm sure gets next dibs.
    • 33' Chelsea break and Cahill of all people takes on Boateng on the edge of the box, great skill to round him and he wins a free-kick as the defender sticks out a boot.
    • 33' Great block by Cahill on Muller, the loose ball drops to Robben but his bouncing shot skips up into Cech's arms.
    • 32' A delay in play as Ribery gets treatment and a drink of water. Play resumes with Bayern taking it short.
    • 31' Bosingwa gives Ribery a little ankle kiss, a bit silly and the ref has a word, one assumes in their native Portuguese. Ribery will milk this.
    • 30' The ball falls to Mata, fine pass wide to Bertrand but he looks less comfortable in attack and runs straight into Lahm. Should have passed it inside.
    • 29' ... Which means Robben and Kroos are over it. My money's on the Dutchman. The ref speaks to Mueller, who makes mischief in the wall, but it matters not as Robben hits the wall. Poor.
    • 28' Mueller goes down a bit theatrically as he goes up against Luiz, and the ref obviously buys it. Any opportunity to get involved, bless him. It's on the right, about five yards from the edge of the bo...
    • 27' Taken short, Mata spreads it wide left but Cahill can't combine with Bertrand and it's out for a throw.
    • 26' Drogba is left in a heap as he and Boateng challenge for a header on halfway. Drogba made a back for the former Manchester City defender, but he flew into the Ivorian's back.
    • 25' Lampard tries to release Bertrand but I'm not sure he can read those kinds of balls at this stage and it's easy for Bayern to clear.
    • 24' Bayern have a corner on the left but this time Cech is dominant in the air and claims well.
    • 23' Robben again is the key man as he slides past one man and another but his ball in is cleared and eventually ricochets away for a goal kick.
    • 22' Mata with a fine touch on the right, he finds Bertrand with a brilliant pass across field but Kalou is offside when the Englishman threads him through.
    • 21' Robben has switched flanks, as we predicted, and he cuts inside, beats one man, the another and he drills in a low shot that Cech kicks clear with his boot and it's off the post! Bayern hit the woodwork!! Eventually it's put behind for a corner. That was a great save from Cech as he had bodies in his way - it went through Cahill's diving block. Bosingwa again all over the shop there.
    • 20' Chelsea's midfield have barely had a sniff. Not entirely sure what Bertrand is doing - Robben is seeing a lot of the ball and Lahm has had no defensive work to do. Still with Bayern, and they are using the right a lot.
    • 19' The ball is swung into Robben who half-volleys but Bertrand blocks and it's another corner. This one is flapped at a bit by Cech but Chelsea clear. Now Gomez with a half-chance but he gets his turn all wrong, Lampard coolly plays it clear but a wild swing by Bosingwa and Kroos could be in but in the end Chelsea survive! What was Bosingwa doing?
    • 18' Kalou tries to give chase but he commits a foul and Bayern again have the ball. Mueller with a sharp turn and low cross but hacked away for a corner.
    • 17' Still Bayern in possession as Lahm tries to cut inside to shoot but his path is blocked by a big blue sea. Chelsea can only clear though, not build, and Bayern come back with it...
    • 16' Bayern counter but they aren't quick enough and Chelsea have bodies back. They wanted a handball on Mikel but he knew nothing about it after the ball skipped up from Luiz. Bayern now faced with a London bus, Chelsea style (i.e. blue, not red, and certainly not unionised).
    • 15' Chelsea's first real passing move involves Mata, Mikel and Lampard but breaks down at Drogba.
    • 14' Superb cross from Ribery aimed at a flying Gomez but - with Luiz right on him - the Germany striker heads well over. Half a chance.
    • 13' Luiz gives away a free-kick as it all gets a bit scrappy, Mueller was backing in to win that.
    • 12' shY on the message board below asks where all the Chelsea fans are - in the pub, or in Munich I would hazard. That is the English way after all.
    • 11' Kalou trips Ribery on the edge of the Bayern box as the France winger tried to clear - didn't seem to touch him but Ribery is 'clever' like that, winning little free-kicks to break up the play.
    • 10' Ribery is confused at being called up but the whistle had long gone for a trip on Drogba, he just couldn't hear it in the din. And it is some din.
    • 9' Bayern counter but Robben skies his shot after cutting inside from the right. That was classic Robben, surprised to see him waste it.
    • 8' Cole to Mikel, fine turn around Kroos and now Bosingwa comes forward, Mikel back on the ball, Bosingwa runs inside and finds Kalou wide right, he finds Mata but the cross is poor, too short and Lahm heads clear - he had three men free at the far post.
    • 7' Ribery tries to slip Gomez through but Cahill is well-placed to intercept. Lahm comes forward now but he gives it away, Mikel stays cool to pass it clear. Now Kalou turns and he frees Drogba on the right. He crosses but beyond both Kalou and Bertrand and out for a throw.
    • 6' Bright start for Bayern. I'll tell you this for free Chelsea fans - the best way to beat Bayern is to attack them as they are shaky defensively. You can't be cagey against them - just as Dortmund. Drogba a bit isolated but he only needs half a chance...
    • 5' Chelsea fail to clear their lines from the corner, it's played in to Schweinsteiger who lays it off for KROOS but his savage low drive spins wide!
    • 5' Mueller slips it to Schweinsteiger on the edge of the D, and it opens up for him but Cahill dives in to block the shot! It flies over for a corner.
    • 4' Ribery and Mueller exchange passes on the left and Ribery takes on Bosingwa - only to fall on his hind. The Chelsea fans greet him with a 'wahey'.
    • 3' Handball by Schweinsteiger and the ref - who likes a card - books him.
    • 2' Robben to take from the right, will be an inswinger but it's poor and Bosingwa heads to safety. Still with Bayern though.
    • 1' Cole slides in and catches Kroos a bit late. Early free-kick to Bayern out wide...
    • 1' The first half of the 2011-12 Champions League final is underway!
    • 19:44 Lahm wins the toss, Lampard stand-in skipper in JT's absence, and he'll take the end, Chelsea to kick off.
    • 19:43 FACT: Only one side has ever won both the FA Cup and Champions League/European Cup in the same season: Manchester United in 1998-99. And guess who they beat in ze final?
    • 19:42 Bloke playing violin on the pitch looks a lot like Robbie Savage. The teams are out now, as the Champions League anthem plays. That will be a hit when they grime it up in a few years.
    • 19:41 Right, the last five minutes will be a bit more 'regular' as we count down to the kick-off. I'm shaking with excitement still, get me an ambien! FACT - This will be the third European final for Heynckes as a manager, 32 years after his first one. He lost the UEFA Cup final with Borussia Moenchengladbach in 1980 before winning the Champions League with Real Madrid in 1998.
    • 19:40 Jupp Heynckes: "Is this the biggest day of my management career? Let's waut until after the game. We must be patient tonight, stay calm and play smart. We can't just run at them, we have a clear strategy."
    • 19:35 Roberto Di Matteo: "We had to take a lot of things into consideration due to suspensions and injuries. That's why I picked this team. The fact that Cahill and Luiz have ben out for three or four weeks makes them higher risk but anyone can pick up an injury. With Bertrand, Malouda picked up an injury and couldn't train all week. He has a good understanding both defensively and going forward."
    • 19:30 All right boys and girls (and in betweeners), this is your last chance to Tweet predictions before I immerse myself in live commentary. @ROMPED33: "Bertrand could be an advantage, bayern would have very little homework on him, could spark the blues"; @JooManGroup: "mueller schweini and co ofteb prodice top performances together he'd be my choice if i were heyneckes too"; @OsamaBinHaroon: "All lingering hopes of a @chelseafc victory vanquished with the shocking line up of the Blues tonight." FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 19:25 Referee tonight is Pedro Proenca of Portugal. Much has been made of the fact he has reffed two Bayern matches and that they lost both; however, he is strict - in 28 games this season he has dished out 11 red cards and 152 yellows, which will NOT suit tough-tackling Chelsea.
    • 19:20 BATTLES : Case for the defence - yes, the John Terry legal pun was intended, but Chelsea have a better record without him both in Europe and the League. That doesn't account for always playing the big games and being rested for the 'easier' ones, but I think his best days are behind him. But are Cahill and Luiz match-fit? Bayern, meanwhile, are worse-hit by their two suspensions as they have fewer options - a midfielder and B-teamer form half their back four. Verdict - Bayern there for taking.
    • 19:20 BATTLES: Mata v Kroos - the playmaking hearts of bot sides' attacks, but Kroos has to operate in a withdrawn role due to Gustavo's suspension. Yes, Mueller moves to the AMC role in his place, but Kroos is less effective deeper according to Eurosport Bundesliga commentator Angus Torode (@ajtorode). Verdict - Mata to pull strings.
    • 19:20 BATTLES: Bertrand v Robben - There is almost no way to predict what will happen here. I have seen Bertrand play a few times this season - he is determined, quick and disciplined, so he could well shackle Robben. But the Dutchman will simply cut inside or even switch wings if he finds it tough, so I think this is a bit risk. Verdict - Robben to shine.
    • 19:20 BATTLES: Drogba v Gomez - Gomez has scored bags of goals this season (20 in his last 17 Champions League appearances), but he does miss sitters and has been known to fade in high-pressure situations. Tonight is a huge test for him. Drogba has been hot and cold this season, as you'd expect of a man nearing the end of his career, but the big games he ALWAYS shows for. Verdict - both to make an impact.
    • 19:20 BATTLES: Cech v Neuer - both imperious on their day, but Neuer has a howler in his locker while Cech has only recently hit top form after struggling for a few years following his fractured skull. Verdict - Cech shades it on experience.
    • 19:15 Obviously I want your predictions too - @ROMPED23: "Bayern munich to win on home soil, which will allow the team to be in their zone early. Greetings from melbourne, australia"; @winniewlsn: "Time to create history. Bring the #ChampionsLeague home #cfc." TWEET YOUR PREDICTIONS!
    • 19:10 Tick tock tick tock. I'm excited - are you? Bayern are favourites for this - 7/10 on, with Chelsea 7/2 (normal time). Our partner websites across Europe agree with this, narrowly backing the Germans by four votes to three in a FIFA-style secret ballot (not). CLICK HERE FOR EUROSPORT'S GLOBAL VIEW
    • 19:05 These teamsheets are awesome: click here
    • 19:00 No surprises in Bayern's team, as Contento comes in for the suspended Alaba at left-back and forgotten midfielder Tymoschuk starts at centre-half with Badstuber banned and Van Buyten only fit for the bench. Thomas Mueller - a touch out of favour with Heynkes - starts in place of the suspended Luis Gustavo, occupying Kroos' AMC role with the youngster droping into midfield.
    • 18:55 What do you think of that bombshell? Ryan Bertrand, 22 and at best a fringe player, starts ahead of Essien because Malouda is not deemed fit enough for 90 minutes. Also there is a tactical side to it - Bertrand will be a defensive winger, working on Robben, Lahm and - when he switches flanks - Ribery. • 18:50 TEAMS - CHELSEA: Cech, Boswinga, Cahill, Luiz, Cole, Mikel, Lampard (c), Kalou, Mata, Bertrand, Drogba /// Bayern Munich: Neuer, Lahm, Contento, Tymoschuk, Boateng, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Muller, Robben, Ribery, Gomez
    • 18:50 Speaking of which - Chelsea's team is OUT. And Bertrand starts; with no Essien. My oh my what an injury can do to a top player.
    • 18:45 Don't worry, that was only a brief FACT interlude - although there will be some more later. It's looking increasingly likely that Bertrand will start, which begs the question 'why'? Because even if Malouda is injured, the likes of Essien and Romeu will surely feel aggrieved if they are left out - Lampard, Mikel, Kalou and Mata are all fit. One assumes only Drogba will start up front, with Sturridge and Torres on the bench.
    • 18:40 Aside from his tendency to upset people, England's Lionheart (TM) John Terry also has a less 'winning' record in Europe with the Blues. Chelsea have won 49% of their Champions League games with Terry on the pitch since his debut in 2003-04 (42 out of 85). This ratio climbs to 57% when he’s absent (8 out of 14)...
    • 18:35 Capacity today is 63,000, a touch reduced one assumes on account of the standing allocation. Rammed, and containing the likes of @tomEurosport who is getting a touch more prolific as we approach kick off. Check in on him at your leisure.
    • 18:30 It's from earlier, but in case you didn't read it Early Doors had its say on tonight's match. An interesting read. Chelsea’s one billion reasons to win
    • 18:25 Speaking of everyone's favourite (insert alleged crime here), PM David Cameron has been caught on camera slagging Terry off to Angela Merkel, his German equivalent. While at the G8 summit, Merkel taunted Cameron about Terry's absence, to which Cameron replied: "Good. He's said some bad things".
    • 18:20 John Terry lording it pitchside, hanging out with former England boss Fabio Capello. I wonder how the conversation goes? FC: "Hey, Terry, yes, you still my captain, heheh.". JT: "(insert expletive ridden 'banter' here).

    • 18:10 Fabio Capello, who is at the game in Munich, has been linked with the Chelsea job should Roberto Di Matteo not be offered it, but just now he denied having spoken to the Blues: "There absolutely nothing true, I just read the news on the newspapers". Our Italian office say he was far from convincing though.
    • 18:05 Okay enough of these facts already - let's start with the predictions. @TelmaJoana: "I predict chelsea to win... Everyone is for bayern but they r not so great..."; @incakolanews: "BM 1, CFC 1, BM win on pens, Di Matteo gets 'Pool job, Terry gets 6 months Pentonville."; @fyrahilspears: "German machines for the win!!" • 18:00 FACT: English sides have won just one of their last eight European finals in all competitions (Manchester United vs Chelsea in 2007/08 Champions League); but surprisingly English clubs have won four of their five European Cup/Champions League final encounters with German clubs, the only exception being Bayern Munich’s win against Leeds Utd in 1975.
    • 17:55 FACT: The Blues have scored in each of their last 13 Champions League games (25 goals); Bayern have scored in all their home games (this is a home game)
    • 17:50 FACT: Chelsea have won four of their last five CL games, drawing the last one 2-2 at Barcelona in the 2nd leg of the semi-finals; Bayern have drawn just one of their last 31 CL games (1-1 against Napoli in the group stage earlier this season).
    • 17:45 FACT: Bayern have won four and lost four of their eight European Cup/Champions League finals (three of which were against English sides); Chelsea have played in one final, losing on penalties to Manchester United.
    • 17:40 FACT: Bayern have played 38 games against English sides in European competition (incl. fairs): the Germans have won 14 of these, losing 11 and drawing 13; Bayern Munich have met English sides 17 times in the modern format of the Champions League, winning seven times (five defeats and as many draws).
    • 17:35 FACT: Chelsea have played 15 times against German sides in European competition (incl. Fairs cup), winning eight times (D3 L4); The Blues have met German clubs 12 times in the Champion League: the Londoners have won six times, losing four times and sharing the points twice.
    • 17:30 HEAD TO HEAD: Three of Chelsea’s six goals against Bayern have been scored by Frank Lampard, the others by Drogba (two) and Joe Cole. Indeed, Bayern are the side against whom Lampard has scored the joint-most goals in the Champions League (three), alongside Barcelona and Liverpool.
    • 17:25 HEAD TO HEAD: Bayern Munich and Chelsea have met on two occasions so far in the Champions League. In the quarter-finals of the 2004-05 season, the Blues made it to the semi-finals by winning 4-2 at the Stamford Bridge before losing 2-3 at the Olympic Stadion.
    • 17:20 TEAM NEWS: We're getting news on the grapevine that Ryan Bertrand - a local lad who has only played 14 matches for Chelsea - will start in midfield due to an injury to Florent Malouda. He is a left-back but will be asked to shackle Arjen Robben and - when they trade flanks - Franck Ribery. Not confirmed, but it's looking likely.
    • 17:15 SUSPENSIONS are all the rage in Munich, with seven players across both sides missing out. For Bayern, full-back David Alaba, defender Holger Badstuber and defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo are all out; Chelsea miss skipper and defender John Terry, midfielders Ramires and Raul Meireles, and another defender in Branislav Ivanovic.
    • 17:10 Given the scale of this game you have not one but TWO people you can contact on Twitter - we have Tom Adams (@TomEurosport) in the stands alongside our German team, and Reda Maher (that's me, @Reda_Eurosport) as your match commentator. • 17:05 We're starting our coverage a touch earlier than usual, for obvious reasons, as we count-down to the kick-off of a fascinating final between two sides who have not been in their best domestic form but are packed with superstars who have a lot to prove. Chelsea, remember, have never won this title, while Bayern have won it on four occasions.
    • 17:00 Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the showpiece to the 2011-12 European season - the Champions League final, between Bayern Munich and Chelsea, in Munich, kicking off at 7.45pm UK time.
  • Summary

Lucky Lahm!
    • 112' Lahm on the right, superb run again and cross and it bounces up off Gomez and could go in but Luiz chests it out for a corner.
    • 108' Lahm on a surging run, he lofts a hanging ball back post that Chelsea watch sail to the unmarked Olic who must score but his first-time volleyed finish spins wide of the far post! Cech just watches helpless and another chance goes begging! What was Bosingwa doing there?
    • 95' Robben with the penalty... AND CECH SAVES IT! Robben hit it low but a touch central, Cech went for the corner and his massive frame kept it out, the keeper holding on to the rebound.
    • 89' GOAL CHELSEA! DROGBAAAAA! Mata's near-post corner is met by a flying, turning, power header by the Drog, into the top right. What a header, what a leap - what a man!
    • 79' Big miss by Mueller! Shambolic defending from Chelsea allowed the ball to bounce to his feet from 10 yards but he drags it wide! Luiz at fault there.
    • 76' Malouda gives it away and then Lampard gets left for dead by Ribery but Cole again flies in from nowhere to block! The cross almost spins in over Cech but he tips it over! Corner.
    • 70' Robben plays it low to the edge of the box AND KROOS SHOOTS but blocked by Cole! That was going in!
    • 67' A flap from Cech at the corner and Gomez tries a bicycle kick but Luiz blocks! Now Lahm races in, Drogba easing him away to clear - Bayern's fans want a penalty but they're in dreamland if they think that's an option.
    • 60' Lampard tries to play his way out of trouble, poor choice as Gomez finds ROBBEN but blocked, Cole with a marvellous spot and brave flying stop!
    • 47' A long ball catches Luiz out and Robben is in! Robben is clean through wide right but Cole appears from nowhere to slide in!
    • 40' Comedy of errors for Bayern! A double shank as Ribery completely mis-hits his shot, which lands perfectly for a Gomez poach but the striker inexplicably takes a touch - which is desperately heavy - and Chelsea scramble it behind.
    • 36' JUST WIDE BY MUELLER! Fantastic flying volley after a brilliant cross from Contento, who was let in by Bosingwa after Ribery's feint and pass. Obviously. The shin did for Mueller.
    • 5' Chelsea fail to clear their lines from the corner, it's played in to Schweinsteiger who lays it off for KROOS but his savage low drive spins wide!
    • 5' Mueller slips it to Schweinsteiger on the edge of the D, and it opens up for him but Cahill dives in to block the shot! It flies over for a corner.
    • 18:50 TEAMS - CHELSEA: Cech, Boswinga, Cahill, Luiz, Cole, Mikel, Lampard (c), Kalou, Mata, Bertrand, Drogba /// Bayern Munich: Neuer, Lahm, Contento, Tymoschuk, Boateng, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Muller, Robben, Ribery, Gomez
