    • 90+3' FULL TIME. Gomez's brace puts Bayern in control of Group A with six points from two games. City have one from two.
    • 90+2' Gomez, scorer of two goals, replaced by Nils Petersen.
    • 90+1' James Milner has a cross cut out by Neuer and Kolarov then sees an effort deflected wide. He at least has been bright since his arrival.
    • 89' A late change as Ribery is replaced by Arjen Robben. He rightly gets a superb reception after a fantastic performance.
    • 87' Boateng and Richards clash and both players fall to ground. However, they are fine to continue.
    • 86' Silva takes desperate action to halt another Ribery run on the left wing but he gets enough of the ball. A fine challenge from the Spaniard.
    • 84' Kolarov stings the palms of Neuer with a shot from range but the keeper never looked in any danger. A rare moment in which City have threatened in this second half.
    • 82' Kroos, who has had a decent evening, is replaced by Tymoshuck as Bayern look to close out the game.
    • 80' Hart saves from Gomez as he meets a fine free-kick from Kroos and Muller fails to tap in at the far post. Hart is the only City player to emerge with credit tonight in all honesty.
    • 78 And Kolo joins his brother in the book for a foul on the same man: Ribery, who has been absolutely fantastic tonight.
    • 76' Yaya Toure is now booked for a poor challenge on Ribery. That looked like it was born of frustration.
    • 75' By the way, Manchester United are LOSING 3-2 to Basel at the moment. Follow all the games live
    • 74' Milner whips in a free-kick from the left and Neuer plucks the ball out of the air.
    • 73' Barry, who has been well off the pace, is replaced by Aleksandar Kolarov.
    • 73' Muller slips a square pass for Gomez but his effort is blocked. Hart then makes a fine save to deny Schweinsteiger with a sprawling save.
    • 72' Bayern are finding this so, so easy. They are just tapping the ball around and City can't get close. Mancini's side have been thoroughly outclassed in this second half.
    • 70' Nasri replaced by James Milner. Nasri has had a long, hard evening.
    • 68' Ribery is really enjoying himself and wins the ball off Richards before gifting it back to the City defender when a trick fails to come off.
    • 67' Clichy catches Muller from behind and is booked.
    • 67' Aguero threatens to break free in the box but Boateng produces a fantastic tackle to deny his former side. What a piece of defending that was.
    • 66' Roberto Mancini's head is bowed and he looks very down. Apparently now Pablo Zabaleta is all upset.
    • 65' Bayern are treating this a bit like a training match at present and City have been pretty awful in the second half so far. We should remember of course that Bayern are a fantastic side though.
    • 63' The 'oles' ring out around the Allianz Arena - proof of Bayern's dominance and the comfort they are in at present. It is all too easy for the home side.
    • 61' City really need to focus on what is happening on the pitch, as Lahm calls Hart into action with a pretty weak shot at the near post.
    • 60' Apparently now Carlos Tevez has become embroiled in an argument with Mancini on the touchline! It's chaos down there.
    • 58' Rafinha lets fly from 25 yards but sees his effort blocked. Now Lahm delivers a cross from the left and Gomez tries to flick the ball in spectacularly! He fails though.
    • 57' Dzeko is not happy at all. Mancini reverting to the cautious approach that saw him criticised last season, though City will probably push Yaya Toure forward and install Aguero as the lone striker.
    • 56' Oh dear. It is Edin Dzeko who is coming off for De Jong. That is very strange.
    • 55' It does appear as though De Jong is being readied by City. They need to take off Barry as he just isn't up to it tonight.
    • 54' Ribery embarks on another run forward but is halted by a firm challenge from Kolo Toure. Excellent, decisive defending from the Ivorian.
    • 53' City almost pounce on a poor pass from Ribery but Barry collides with Schweinsteiger and fouls the midfielder.
    • 51' Nasri chops down Rafinha with a poor challenge. He escapes a booking though. Now City try to release Aguero but Neuer is off his line quickly to deal with the situation.
    • 50' Silva tries to release Aguero with a threaded pass but sees it cut out. He hasn't been at the level to which we have grown accustomed in the Premier League in recent weeks.
    • 49' Aguero goes in with a high foot on Van Buyten, and remember, the striker has already been booked. However, he was clearly challenging for the ball.
    • 48' Bayern, by the way, have not conceded a goal for about 890 minutes of football. It's a long way back for City here.
    • 47' Silva penalised for a pretty clumsy challenge on Ribery as he hauls the France star down to the ground by his neck.
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • - Want to debate the game so far? Get in contact via Twitter if you want. Tom Adams on Twitter
    • 45+2' HALF-TIME. Bayern lead 2-0 thanks to a brace from Gomez.
    • 45+1' GOAL! 2-0 Bayern Munich! Hart is furious. Kroos whips in a free-kick and Hart makes a fine save from Van Buyten's flicked header. However, the city defence are static and Gomez takes advantage again when tapping in from close range.
    • 45' Ribery bursts into the box and is clearly blocked off by Kompany, who is not making any attempt to play the ball. Perhaps the fact that Ribery had knocked the ball a bit too far in front of him counts for City as it looked a penalty.
    • 44' Barry is struggling a bit out there with the quality and pace. Perhaps Mancini will look to introduce Nigel De Jong, who has returned from injury to take a place on the bench today.
    • 43' Sergio Aguero goes into the book for a late challenge in from the side on Schweinsteiger.
    • 42' City were acquitting themselves pretty well but Bayern stepped up their efforts ominously over the past 15 minutes or so and got the goal they were threatening to claim.
    • 40' That was very unfortunate from Hart but City's defence were culpable as the Bayern players were queuing up to tap that home.
    • 38' GOAL! 1-0 Bayern Munich! Gomez puts the German side in front! Ribery's initial shot is parried by Hart, who then makes a miraculous save to deny Muller. However, Gomez is there to mop up and knocks the ball home at the third attempt.
    • 37' What a chance! Barry concedes possession with a sloppy pass and suddenly Bayern have 5 v 3. Muller crosses for Schweinsteiger and he meets it first time by turning the ball over the bar. They should have scored.
    • 35' The corner is played to Ribery on the edge of the box. He is unmarked and takes it first time, but cannot find the target.
    • 34' Ribery makes Barry look as though he is stuck in drying concrete as he skips away from the City man. Ribery crosses for Muller and Clichy deflects his shot over the bar for a corner.
    • 33' Schweinsteiger now tests Hart with a low effort. He hits it well but the keeper is not really troubled. City are under a bit of pressure at present but Bayern are struggling to create genuine chances.
    • 32' A nice square pass from Kroos finds Gomez 20 yards from goal but Kompany produces a fine challenge to dispossess the Germany striker.
    • 31' Nasri loses possession to his good pal Nasri. City commit two fouls as the referee plays advantage and Hart spills Ribery's fierce effort after Bayern play the ball about in front of the City box.
    • 30' Aguero plays in Richards with a glorious reverse pass but he doesn't read it quite properly and the move peters out for City.
    • 29' 'Blue Moon' rings out around the Allianz Arena. No doubt the City fans will be pleased with what they have seen so far. Their side look very at home tonight and should have had a penalty of course.
    • 28' Excellent from Ribery. He jinks one away and then the other to find space despite the close attentions of Richards and fires in a cross that Hart clasps at his near post.
    • 26' A good opening for Kroos. The ball rolls nicely to him 25 yards from goal but he lashes his shot well off target. Kroos netted against Villarreal in Bayern's opening game but he was miles away there.
    • 25' Free-kick to City and Yaya Toure's curling effort forces Neuer into a diving catch at his right-hand post. Decent effort.
    • 25' Richards plays a one-two with Aguero before driving into the box. He feels contact from Boateng and throws himself to ground in an effort to win a penalty, but the referee isn't fooled. Boateng's challenge was messy but Richards's reaction didn't play in his favour.
    • 23' Barry has come in for some rough treatment - now Kroos kicks him - have Bayern confused him with Silva?
    • 22' Nasri embarks on a wonderful run through the heart of the Bayern midfield and is only halted when he runs into a sea of red shirts on the edge of the box. Excellent from the Frenchman.
    • 21' As Barry tries to slip a pass through to Aguero he is hauled down by Gustavo, giving City a free-kick 35 yards from goal. Silva floats the ball into Dzeko who has far too much time, but Boateng blocks his low effort. That was sloppy marking.
    • 20' In tonight's other game in Group A, Napoli are 2-0 up against Villarreal thanks to goals from Marek Hamsik and Edinson Cavani. Follow all the scores here
    • 19' Schweinsteiger drifts in from the right and takes aim from 20 yards, but his effort flies well, well over the bar.
    • 18' Kroos looks ready to unleash a shot from the edge of the box, and he is capable from that range, but Gustavo nips in ahead of him, much to the Germany international's frustration.
    • 17' Vincent Kompany does well to prevent Gomez from collecting a Ribery cross in the box. City are soaking up a bit of pressure now in Munich.
    • 16' Nasri's corner picks out Richards on the edge of the box but Neuer has no problems when catching the looping header.
    • 15' Gael Clichy delivers a cross from deep on the left that threatens to bounce dangerously near the penalty spot before Boateng scrambles the ball away. Dzeko then has a shot deflected over for a corner.
    • 14' Rafinha gets in behind and plays in a cross that is deflected just out of the reach of Franck Ribery, who looked poised to gobble up that chance. Dangerous for City.
    • 13' Here's our first proper glimpse of World Cup Golden Boot winner Thomas Muller, and Kolo Toure has to come across quick to clear from his low cross with Gomez lurking ominously.
    • 12' Ribery forces Hart into a quick clearance but the goalkeeper gets enough distance on the ball to avoid any unnecessary concern.
    • 11' Bayern right-back Rafinha receives the ball on the right of the box following a quick throw and the Brazilian lets the ball bounce before hoofing a volley well over the bar.
    • 10' Philipp Lahm plays the ball square for Schweinsteiger after drifting in from the left. His shot takes a deflection but only loops into the arms of Joe Hart. I had a flash of Paul Parker and Peter Shilton in 1990 then.
    • 9' City are knocking the ball around confidently enough and predictably Silva is central to proceedings. He assists Aguero in a one-two before the forward darts into the box and fails to get a shot away.
    • 7' Silva hauls down Kroos from behind and is rightly penalised for a foul. This has been an excellent contest so far.
    • 6' It has been an excellent start from City, and they should have had a penalty, but now Bayern attempt to string a few passes together with Kroos and Ribery teaming up in the centre of midfield.
    • 5' City break through again as Micah Richards steams down the right and squares for Dzeko. However, the former Wolfsburg striker produces a low effort that Neuer saves with ease.
    • 4' Penalty claim for City! Silva is surely brought down in the box by Jerome Boateng but the Bayern defender escapes punishment when catching the midfielder's leg. Silva jumps to his feet and lays the ball back to Samir Nasri, who sees his effort blocked. Controversy.
    • 3' Toni Kroos concedes a foul when bringing Gareth Barry to ground. Kroos is the No. 10 today, with Ribery and Muller either side of him and in behind Gomez.
    • 2' Oh dear. Within 30 seconds of the restart Bayern midfielder Luis Gustavo goes to ground and looks to have injured himself. However, he clambers to his feet and carries on.
    • 1' KICK OFF!
    • 19.45 We are seconds away from kick-off at a jumping Allianz Arena. Well, it is Oktoberfest after all...
    • 19.43 The two teams emerge from the tunnel and there is that famous Champions League music. Micah Richards has a big grin spread across his face, as presumably do many of the City supporters.
    • 19.40 Want to get in contact? Send me a kind message/throw some abuse my way on Twitter if you want. I'm currently debating whether Noel Gallagher is contractually obliged to appear on television every time that City do. @tomEurosport
    • 19.35 As well as Van Buyten, City are of course up against another familiar face in Jerome Boateng, who quit the Etihad Stadium after only one season to return to Germany this summer. He made 24 appearances in all competitions for City but says Bayern are the better side. Boateng confident of win
    • 19.30 These two clubs have never met each other in the history of football, and yes, that includes before 1992. Bayern have won seven of their last eight at home and have only lost once at home to English opposition. We all remember Jeremy Goss's ridiculous volley for Norwich in 1993, don't we?
    • 19.25 The visit of a Manchester club to Munich has special resonance given the Munich Air Disaster of 1958, and in a very laudable move, City laid wreaths in memory of those who died. One of the victims was of course former City goalkeeper Frank Swift, who was working as a reporter on that fateful night. City to mark Munich incident
    • 19.20 City's resurgence, thanks to the Sheikh Mansour's billions, has given the club an entirely new complexion though and they feel at home amongst the European elite. As Roberto Mancini said: "Life changes sometimes. Now we are a top club." Roberto Mancini quotes
    • 19.15 Bayern are of course a club with wonderful pedigree in the competition, having won the European Cup in 1974, 1975 and 1976, and the Champions League in 2001. They also reached the 2010 final, only to be defeated by Jose Mourinho's Inter. Meanwhile, City's last appearance in the competition came in 1968.
    • 19.10 City will have a real task on their hands tonight. After losing on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich have embarked on a nine-game winning streak and have not conceded a single goal in that time. In fact, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, signed from Schalke in contentious circumstances, has not conceded a goal in 838 minutes of football in all competitions.
    • 19.05 In what is surely the Group of Death for this season, Bayern currently sit top of Group A following a 2-0 win at Villarreal in the opening round of fixtures. City were held to a 1-1 draw by Napoli at Etihad Stadium. Group A standings
    • 19.00 Bayern, meanwhile, leave Arjen Robben on the bench despite the Dutch winger playing 12 minutes of a 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend. Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery line up behind lone striker Mario Gomez. Defender Holger Badstuber is ill so is replaced by Daniel van Buyten, who made five appearances on loan at City in 2004. Anatoliy Tymoschuk is also replaced by Luis Gustavo in midfield.
    • 18.55 So City make once change from the side that defeated Everton 2-0 at the weekend with Kolo Toure replacing Joleon Lescott in the centre of defence. It is his first proper appearance (Carling Cup aside) since returning from a ban imposed due to failing a drugs test. Mancini plays Edin Dzeko as a central striker with David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri playing off him.

    • - Welcome to our LIVE coverage of what should be one of the highlights of the Champions League group stages. Kick-off is at 7.45pm UK time, but we'll be here from an hour beforehand with the latest team news and pre-match build-up.
