    • 90+3' That goal was the last kick of the game, and Chelsea just about did enough. They might not be setting the world alive, but they keep on winning and that's all that will matter to Andre Villas-Boas.
    • 90+3' GOAL!! MATA for Chelsea!! Torres races inside from the left, thinks about the shot, then decides tp square for the unmarked Mata to tuck it into the empty net. And that is that.
    • 90+2' Chelsea have the ball, and they are seconds away from opening their account with a win.
    • 90+1' Two minutes of stoppage time to be played.
    • 90' Chelsea win a free-kick just inside the Leverkusen half and that is exactly where they want to be.
    • 89' Torres beats the offside trap and tries to flip a cross for Anelka... cleared.
    • 88' A poor touch by Kiessling sees another Leverkusen move break down... it doesn't look like they can conjure an equaliser.
    • 87' Renato tries to lift a clever ball into the box, but he overhits it and the ball bounces through to Cech.
    • 86' It's Leverkusen seeing more of the ball, but Chelsea are back in numbers and look well organised.
    • 84' Kiessling miscontrols allowing Anelka to come away on the break. He's got Mata wide on the left and tries to find him... but the pass is cut out.
    • 83' Mata catches Toprak in the face with his boot - totally accidental, and the Leverkusen defender is fine.
    • 83' Ivanovic delivers an obvious shove on Kiessling but somehow the ref misses it...
    • 81' The ball is in the net again, courtesy of Anelka, but there is an offside flag up from earlier in the move. It actually looks like the linesman got that one wrong, though Leverkusen did rather stop playing when they saw the flag.
    • 80' Another Leverkusen change: Balitsch on for Bender.
    • 79' Lampard strikes a powerful 25-yarder straight down Leno's throat.
    • 78' Stamford Bridge just doesn't seem like a very happy ground at the moment. It's dead quiet apart from the visiting supporters.
    • 76' Off goes the Chelsea goalscorer David Luiz, as Alex comes on for the dying minutes. He's been carrying a knock.
    • 75' Offside against the hard-working Schurrle out on the left flank.
    • 74' And that's a yellow card to Derdiyok for a foul on Malouda!
    • 73' Leverkusen change: Eren Derdiyok replaces Sam.
    • 72' It's squeaky bum time around Europe - getcha live updates of every game here!
    • 71' GREAT SAVE LENO! Anelka squares for Mata whose shot is heading for the roof of the net but the keeper gets a slight touch to help it over!
    • 70' Oh, a Leverkusen defensive mix-up lets Anelka in... he squares for Torres but the Spaniard's shot is blocked! And Mata follows it up with a curler from the edge of the box - held by Leno.
    • 69' Kiessling meets a cross from the left with his head - it's always going to be tough to direct it on target and he cannot do so...
    • 68' Leverkusen do not deserve that after the way they've played since half-time. Can they respond?
    • 67' GOAL! David Luiz does it for Chelsea!! He meets Torres's layoff and sweeps a 20-yarder past Leno! Great finish, and he started the move with a driving run, too!
    • 66' Stamford Bridge gives Michael Ballack a standing ovation as he comes off for Renato Augusto.
    • 65' Anelka and Lampard on for Sturridge and Meireles. Baffling. Sturridge has been their best attacker along with Mata.
    • 64' STURRIDGE DENIED!! He arrives at the back post to meet Ashley Cole's cross with a volley, and Leno makes a fine clawing save!
    • 63' The official attendance is 33,000 - capacity 40,000-odd.
    • 62' Nicolas Anelka is preparing to come on. Must be for Torres, right?
    • 60' Kiessling weights a magnificent ball into the path of Schurrle who scuffs his shot and Cech saves! The visitors on top, and you can only hear their fans. Pretty hopeless display from the Chelsea supporters.
    • 60' Yellow card David Luiz for cycnically hauling down Schurrle as the German turned him.
    • 59' Leno makes a bizarre decision to punch a Torres cross instead of catching it. The visitors survive though.
    • 57' What a chance for Ballack!! He breaks through the offside trap, is one on one but fires into the body of Cech! Massive chance for the ex-Chelsea man.
    • 56' Torres!! He meets Malouda's cross with a downward header - Leno saves! Difficult change.
    • 55' Kiessling and Schurrle break through the right channel, but their interplay breaks down... Chelsea are lucky Kiessling was inadvertently tripped after releasing his mate.
    • 54' Another chance for Chelsea as the ball skitters in front of goal.. Leno dives on it.
    • 53' Bosingwa crosses from the right and finds Sturridge whose header is held by Leno.
    • 52' Bender wins it marvellously in midfield but mislays his pass and Chelsea come again through Sturridge, whose menacing cross is cut out.
    • 51' Leverkusen win a free-kick inside the Chelsea half, and it's still the visiting fans making all the noise.
    • 50' Luiz is back, leaping from foot to foot in a slightly odd manner, presumably testing out that injury.
    • 49' Leverkusen are claiming a handball at the edge of the box, but referee Lannoy does not want to know.
    • 48' Play resumes with a Leverkusen free-kick with David Luiz still undergoing treatment.
    • 47' A hefty collision leaves David Luiz and Kiessling both sprawled on the ground by the touchline. It was Luiz's foul, but he may well have come off worse. He's holding his right foot.
    • 46' Second half under way! Chelsea kick off. No personnel changes for either side.
    • 45+1' That's half-time, and Chelsea are labouring against a determined and well-organised Leverkusen side. Back in 15...
    • 45' IVANOVIC!! He heads a Mata delivery goalwards but Leno makes a comfortable save.
    • 44' Another Mata free-kick into the Chelsea box is cleared... Chelsea not creating much of a goal threat.
    • 42' Sturridge again! He strikes a clean ball, and this time he turns and fires just wide from 22 yards. There's a man playing with confidence, unlike Fernando Torres...
    • 41' Cole is well forward down the Chelsea left but his low cross is cut out.
    • 40' Sam tees it up for Kiessling who tries a showy volley but scuffs it dreadfully.
    • 39' Mata with an outswinger, Mikel rises highest... and glances his header wide.
    • 39' Yellow card Gonzalo Castro, and a chance for Mata to deliver a free-kick into the box...
    • 38' And here's Lee on the attendance: "Bit more than 3/4 full, segregated area is exaggerated unless uefa fear old #cfc making comeback. Think they've been priced out."
    • 37' Another Mata corner is held by Leno, who is growing into this game.
    • 36' Ivanovic is outjumped in the air but Chelsea win a corner, to be taken by Mata. Played short and Sturrdge wastes it.
    • 35' And this from Darren Bent - at a loose end on Champions League night: "Who's getting involved with the EA FIFA 12 demo on XBox 360 today? I was lucky enough to get a go in HK pre season, cant wait for it to drop"
    • 34' From Lee Walker at Stamford Bridge: "Only Fernando Torres rivalling the #cfc fans for the most muted performance of the night. Could have had a hat-trick already." More tweets here.
    • 33' Ivanovic bashes a clearance into Sam, and is lucky the ball rebounds kindly enough for him to help it back to Cech.
    • 32' Sturridge! He hits a purely-struck shot from 25 yards and Leno beats it away!
    • 31' Schurrle has time and space to cross from the right, but David Luiz gets a curl on it and deflects it to relative safety.
    • 30' Mata hits the free-kick left-footed but is ay off target. Just as Leno lines up the goal kick another ball bounces onto the park to cheers. Oh, the japes...
    • 29' Sturridge wins a free-kick at the edge of the Leverkusen box as Lars Bender brings him down.
    • 28' Villas-Boas might just be the most energetic Chelsea figure tonight. He is leaping around like a nutter. So much for the studied introspection we'd been told to expect...
    • 26' The German side are really getting stuck in and closing down high up the pitch. Schurrle is guilty of a foul.
    • 25' The visiting fans are making more noise than the Chelsea faithful at the moment.
    • 24' Mata goes for goal from distance, but is way off target.
    • 22' Elsewhere in Europe, a Pato goal after 23 seconds has Milan in front at the Camp Nou, while Shakhtar Donetsk lead at Porto. Scores and scorers
    • 21' Chelsea have enjoyed 56% possession so far - and Leverkusen have NOT scored. Apologies.
    • 20' Leverkusen have got a combative trio in midfield - Bender, Rolfes and Ballack giving as good as they are getting.
    • 18' Our scoring system says Bayer Leverkusen have scored - apologies for that. They have not scored, it's still 0-0.
    • 17' Ambitious from Malouda - Leno punches clear and the Frenchman heads it back with interest... wide.
    • 16' Ballack does indeed strike it, but the ball slams into the wall... and Chelsea clear.
    • 15' Kiessling controls at the edge of the box and is needlessly fouled by Raul Meireles... a chance here, Ballack might fancy a shot.
    • 14' Chelsea are starting to exert some control over the game after that harum scarum start...
    • 13' There's the bespectacled Didier Drogba in the stands, sitting alongside Romelu Lukaku.
    • 11' Cech rises highest to punch a Leverkusen corner to the edge of the box, and Cole takes the ball clear. It looks like he is fouled, but referee Lannoy says play on.
    • 10' Torres denied again!! He fails to control first time, but Mata finds him from the left and his left-foot shot is repelled by goalkeeper Leno!
    • 9' Oooh... Torres leaps into a challenge on Rolfes and that is an obvious booking. One borne out of frustration at his goal being disallowed, I suspect.
    • 7' More importantly, what is going on with Meireles's hair this season? It looks like a rodent has died on top of his head.
    • 6' On the subject of that Chelsea disallowed goal, while Meireles may not have touched the ball, he tried to. In my view it was such a clear case of interfering with play the only sensible decision was to rule the goal out. His action very obviously affected what the defenders did - had he not been there the ball would have been cleared.
    • 5' After a cracking start, there is a slight breather while Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno receives treatment.
    • 4' Now a Chelsea goal disallowed! Torres flicks the ball goalwards, the offside Meireles aims a flick at it but doesn't make contact and the ball trickles in! It's disallowed, but by the letter of the law was Meireles interfering?
    • 3' It's all happening here! Simon Rolfes nods the ball in from a Leverkusen corner, but referee Lannoy blows for a foul!
    • 3' Elsewhere in Europe, Milan are already a goal to the good at the Camp Nou! Barcelona v Milan: LIVE
    • 2' TORRES!! He tries an acrobatic volley from a right-sided cross... it drops just over the bar but it's a fantastic effort!
    • 1' And we're away! Leverkusen start us off, playing from left to right in a predominantly black strip with red trim. Chelsea have got their oh-so-individual non-Premier League numbers on their back.
    • 19:45 Leverkusen will kick this one off...
    • 19:40 Out come the teams - Stamford Bridge looks about two-third full.
    • 19:35 This is one of eight games tonight, and you can follow live text commentary on all of them! Champions League scores and scorers.
    • 19:30 Torres might have been less than complimentary about his Chelsea team-mates in recent days, but former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez reckons the Blues have everything in place to compete for European honours.
    • 19:25 In his pre-match press conference, Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas said he hoped being dropped on Saturday would inspire Fernando Torres. Video: Torres angst pleases Villas-Boas.
    • 19:20 Michael Ballack is one of only four Leverkusen players with Champions League experience, having played 87 games for Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. Hanno Balitsch (14), Michal Kadlec (6) and Gonzalo Castro (1) are the others.
    • 19:15 Chelsea are without their two most experienced Champions League players in the starting line-up (Terry and Lampard) - Petr Cech is the most experienced with 74 Champions League matches under his belt.
    • 19:10 Our esteemed managing editor Lee Walker is at Stamford Bridge tonight - follow his tweets here.
    • 19:05 Leverkusen have lost their last six Champions League encounters with English sides, including the last four by exactly the same scoreline (3-1).
    • 19:00 Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 23 Champions League group stage games at home (17 wins, six draws).
    • 18:55 Interesting team news from Chelsea - John Terry is not in the squad, while Fernando Torres returns to play up front. Meanwhile, Michael Ballack starts against his former club.
    • 18:50 CHELSEA: Cech; Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Luiz, Cole; Mikel, Meireles, Malouda; Sturridge, Mata, Torres... Subs: Hilario, Ferreira, Alex, Lampard, McEachran, Kalou, Anelka. /// LEVERKUSEN: Leno, Reinartz, Toprak, Kadlec, Castro, Rolfes, Bender, Ballack, Sam, Schurrle, Kiessling... • Summary

    • 4' Now a Chelsea goal disallowed! Torres flicks the ball goalwards, the offside Meireles aims a flick at it but doesn't make contact and the ball trickles in! It's disallowed, but by the letter of the law was Meireles interfering?
