    • Manchester City
    • Bayern Munich
    • 90+2' The full-time whistle goes, and Manchester City have produced a dominant performance to beat Bayern Munich 2-0 courtesy of goals from David Silva and Yaya Toure, but it is not enough for Roberto Mancini's side, and they have crashed out of the Champions League. Thanks for joining us.
    • 90+1' City keep possession without any problems whatsoever, but it is the Bayern fans who are celebrating as the clock runs down.
    • 90' Balotelli keeps the ball glued to his feet as he holds the ball up. There will be just two added minutes at the end of this second half.
    • 89' Johnson is dispossessed as he looks to nip in behind Rafinha, as City continue to pile forward in their droves.
    • 87' The clock is running down on City's UEFA Champions League campaign. Unless there is a huge turnaround in Villarreal it is all over for City, despite this dominant performance this evening.
    • 86' Boateng retreats at pace to pass the ball back to Butt with Aguero putting him under real pressure, and the forward has not stopped running.
    • 85' Balotelli is penalised for a barge on Boateng, and the City fans cheer that challenge with little sympathy for the former Blue.
    • 84' Kompany concedes a free kick as he fouls Olic, but Bayern look entirely devoid of ideas in the final third.
    • 83' Adam Johnson replaces David Silva, and Mancini is simply looking to protect his stars now in teh final stages.
    • 82' Aguero continues to look very bright in attack, and he fires a low shot on target as Butt is forced to make a fine save with his legs!
    • 81' Usami comes on to replace Petersen for Bayern, and that is met with an indifferent reaction.
    • 80' Mario Balotelli comes on to replace Yaya Toure, and he receives a rousing reception as he enters the fray.
    • 79' Nasri drives a low shot wide of the far post as the Bayern back four retreat, and that was a decent effort.
    • 78' Nigel de Jong replaces Dzeko as Mancini looks to shore up the three points.
    • 77' Bayern continue to offer very little, and City are cruising in this match, albeit in vain for the overall situation.
    • 76' It looks set to be Europa League football for City as it stands, but they continue to look very comfortable in this match.
    • 75' NAPOLI HAVE SCORED AGAIN! Hamsik as scored a second for Napoli at El Madrigal, and Villarreal are not producing the goods for City. Follow that match LIVE...
    • 73' Silva jinks inside two challenges with another mesmeric run, but the move peters out as Contento challenges Dzeko.
    • 72' The visitors have lacked the threat up front which has marked out their campaign so far. Without top-scorer Mario Gomez they have lacked potency.
    • 71' Clichy is penalised for a foul on Alaba, and it is all very scrappy now with City having established their two-goal lead.
    • 70' Heynckes is out on the touchline imploring his side to battle with greater urgency, but it's a very subdued atmosphere now.
    • 69' The Bayern subs continue warm up, but perhaps Heynckes does not deem it necessary to introduce his stars.
    • 67' Dzeko gets down the left and cuts the ball back for Aguero, but Contento is on hand to intervene and clear upfield.
    • 66' The atmosphere is notably more subdued after news of that goal from Inler, but City keep the ball nonetheless and Barry draws a fine save from Butt with a drive from range!
    • 65' Mancini's expression was very telling as soon as that goal went in at El Madrigal, and almost every City fan has their phone or radio out.
    • 64' NAPOLI HAVE SCORED! It's terrible, terrible news for City fans, and regardless of what is going on here, Roberto Mancini's side will be out as it stands. Follow that game LIVE...
    • 63' Olic is rightly penalised for a late lunge on Savic, and he is very lucky as he's already on a booking and that was not clever.
    • 62' Dzeko turns sharply inside the Bayern half and drags a tame shot wide of the far post in a bright move.
    • 61' Bayern are still failing to threaten. Franck Ribery, Mario Gomez and Thomas Mueller have all been sent out to warm up on the sidelines. Can they come on and cause City problems?
    • 60' It is still goalless at El Madrigal, and you can follow that match here!
    • 59' Barry is caught rather sloppily in possession, and Bayern press forward at pace through Olic before Kompany makes a fine challenge.
    • 58' STAT: Bayern have lost just one of their last seven Champions League away games (W5 D1 L1).
    • 57' City are keeping the ball very effectively in the Bayern half, and the German side are pegged back once more.
    • 56' The Bayern subs are warming up very vigorously, and it looks as though the arrival of a few of the visitors' stars is imminent.
    • 55' Man City have lost just one of 31 games on home soil in European competition (excluding qualifiers) and that was to another English club (W22 D8 L1).
    • 54' Clichy dinks a sublime pass into the path of Nasri, but this time Boateng shepherds the ball out of play.
    • 53' The City supporters go berserk, and that was a quite stunningly slick team goal from City, with some lovely one-touch build up preceding Toure's finish.
    • 52' GOAL!!!!! TOURE MAKES IT TWO!! Dzeko slips a sublime pass through to the onrushing Toure, who slides a perfect finish beyond Butt, and City double their lead!
    • 51' Clichy looks to calm his side down with some good possession outwide on the left, and he and Clichy combine very effectively.
    • 50' A deep cross from Gustavo almost picks out Petersen inside the City box, and the hosts make a real meal of clearing the danger.
    • 49' A long ball from Kompany picks out Silva superbly, and his touch behind to Dzeko is intercepted by Contento as the forward looks to shoot.
    • 48' Bayern's illustrious bench are all warming up now on the touchline, and Heynckes as some very fine talent to call upon should he wish to.
    • 47' Bayern keep the ball just inside the City half, but the hosts sit very deep and soak up the pressure.
    • 46' The second half is underway, and that's a minute after play restarted in Spain, so we should know the result of Villarreal and Napoli's clash before full time here.
    • 45+1' The half-time whistle goes, and Manchester City - as it stands - are on course to progress from Group A as they lead Bayern Munich 1-0 courtesy of David Silva's clinical strike in the 36th minute. Crucially, it is goalless between Villarreal and Napoli. It all looks good for City so far! What have you all made of the first half? Get in touch...
    • 45' Barry finds Aguero out on the left with a sublime ball, and the forward zips inside before curling a shot wide of the far post!

    • 43' Olic drops very deep once more and scampers forward, but this time Yaya Toure retreats to make a timely challenge.
    • 42' Lescott shows good composure to bring the ball out of defence for City, before Silva fires a low shot on target with Butt making a sharp save, and Barry blasts the rebound over the bar!
    • 41' Toure releases Dzeko with a sharp ball down the line, but his delivery from the left is blocked away with no one in the box anyhow.
    • 40' As it stands that puts City second and into the knockout phase. How will Napoli respond in Spain?
    • 39' Aguero very nearly scores! The Argentine proves very elusive for the Bayern defenders as he jinks between two challenges and side-foots a precise shot on target, but it's cleared off the line!
    • 38' Savic does superbly to dispossess Petersen in dogged fashion, and he even has the composure to bring the ball forward.
    • 37' The atmosphere is absolutely incredible now as the home fans roar their side on, and the onus is now firmly on Bayern to respond.
    • 36' GOAL!!!!!! SILVA SCORES FOR CITY!! From nothing, Dzeko flicks a through ball into the path of Silva, who drives a stunning left-footed effort from the edge of the Bayern box into the far corner of the net!
    • 36' Villarreal have scored! But it's been disallowed... it was clearly offside, and a very brief roar from some sections of the crowd is quickly extinguished.
    • 35' Silva is scythed down by Gustavo as he looks to swivel sharply in the Bayern half, and City are awarded yet another free kick from a similar distance.
    • 34' This time the delivery is good from Nasri, but Rafinha wins a towering header to clear for Bayern.
    • 33' Boateng is jeered as he commits a needless foul on Dzeko, and City have a dangerous free kick out on the left which Nasri will take.
    • 32' The final ball has let City down thus far, and Butt has not been seriously tested as the hosts keep possession once more.
    • 31' Contento loses the ball and promptly fouls Dzeko, and City can look to attack from this set piece in the Bayern half.
    • 30' Barry is penalised for a clumsy foul on Gustavo on halfway, and Bayern can now build from this position.
    • 29' City are applying the pressure superbly now as Aguero looks to scamper in behind Badstuber, but fails to control his touch.
    • 28' Butt continues to look very unconvincing, and he attempts to punch another delivery into his box clear, and Contento has to help out.
    • 27' Nasri hangs a deep, floaty delivery to the back post, and Dzeko cannot quite win the ball cleanly and City are awarded a corner...
    • 26' Bayern win a throw in out on their right as Savic fails to keep the ball in play, and the visitors are keeping the ball very well.
    • 25' Tymoshchuk slices a shot which fortunately for him takes a deflection off Clichy and goes out for a corner.
    • 24' Silva, Savic and Aguero combine down the City right once more as Bayern look to be outnumbered on that flank, and Rafinha concedes a corner.
    • 23' Nasri almost forces his way in behind the Bayern back four to test Butt, but the German keeper races out and clears rather unconvincingly.
    • 22' Savic enjoys a good stint out on the right, and City are entrusting the midfielder with a lot of the ball as most of the play comes down the City right.
    • 21' City pass the ball around in their half, and the game takes a breather. Dzeko continues to drop off the front line to link up the play to good effect.
    • 20' STAT: Man City have won two and lost none of their three home games in Europe against German opposition.
    • 19' Bayern stroke the ball around at the back in an attempt to calm the game down, but Nasri wins the ball back on halfway.
    • 18' The home fans are in full voice once more as they implore their side to press forward, and the tempo of the game is typically frenetic.
    • 17' Olic does superbly to skip between two challenges in the City half, and eventually the ball falls to Alaba who misses the target with a poor effort from close range!
    • 16' Everyone will have their own opinion about incidents like that, but there were no arguments from the City players, which is telling.
    • 15' GOAL? NO! City score as Silva's inswinging free kick is headed home by Lescott, but he is penalised for challenging in over-zealous fashion with Butt and the goal is overturned!
    • 15' Olic rather crudely hauls down Savic as the City midfielder wriggles clear and is about to cross into the box from the right. Olic is rightly booked.
    • 14' Big news: FC Basel 1-0 Manchester United - read all about it!
    • 13' Bayern break at pace with Petersen finding Olic, who fires a rasping left-footed effort which Hart does well to parry away for a corner.
    • 12' Dzeko is penalised for a tug on Badstuber inside the box, and Nasri's delivery comes to nothing as Bayern are able to clear.

    • 9' City pass the ball around in their half before Clichy looks to release Nasri with a sharp delivery down the line, but Rafinha is quickly across.
    • 8' Bayern have won just two of 16 European matches played in England (W2 D7 L7), losing the last three in a row.
    • 7' What a chance for Aguero! The Argentine steals in to meet a pinpoint cross from Nasri out on the left, but he misses the target with a poorly directed header he will not be proud of just 12 yards out. City could have scored already.
    • 6' Butt plays the ball out to Jerome Boateng, who receives a chorus of boos having left City for the German club. /// Otto Rock believes it all depends on how much City have promised Villarreal. There's always one!
    • 5' There are plenty of goals in this City side, however. Sergio Aguero has 11 in 13 in the league, while Edin Dzeko has ten in 11.
    • 4' Lescott brings the ball forward out of defence, and it's a fairly subdued start from both sides as Dzeko is dispossessed outwide.
    • 3' Savic looks very bright early on for City, and the hosts enjoy a good spell of possession with Bayern sitting pretty deep in their own half.
    • 2' Gustavo bundles over Savic, who does well to draw the challenge from the Bayern player with a sublime first touch.
    • 1' The first half is underway, and Bayern stroke the ball around patiently at the back from the outset and settle very calmly.
    • 19:45 The players emerge from the tunnel, and the atmosphere is electric at the Etihad as the usual anthem blares out... /// Saad reckons City will nick it tonight, while WaitForIt101 thinks City will draw 1-1 with Napoli beating Villarreal 1-0. Therealmogul is backing a 3-1 win to City. What do others think?
    • 19:40 Right, it's time for you all to post your pre-match predictions. What do you think the scoreline will be this evening and, crucially, do you believe that City will end up qualifying? Get in touch with me on Twitter...
    • 19:35 "Tonight, our old football friend permutations will be in vivid attendance at the Etihad stadium. City are dependent on results elsewhere. Not only do they have to beat one of the continent's form teams tonight, they have to hope for serious help from the group whipping boys. In his press conference yesterday, the manager's demeanour suggested he was preparing mentally for some busy Thursdays ahead." Read Jim White's excellent pre-match blog
    • 19:30 Mario Gomez has scored six goals in his five Champions League appearances this season and is joint-top scorer with Lionel Messi in the competition so far, four of his six goals have been from inside the six-yard box. City will be hoping that he does not come off the bench at any stage.
    • 19:25 The visitors confine an abundance of talent to their substitutes' bench in Philipp Lahm, Thomas Mueller, Frank Ribery and Mario Gomez, while City make five changes from the side that lost in Naples as Stefan Savic, Gael Clichy, Gareth Barry, Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero are all handed starting berths.
    • 19:20 With Mario Gomez on the bench, Nils Petersen will make his first UEFA Champions League start up front. City will not be disappointed to see Gomez, the competition’s six-goal top scorer, among the substitutes.
    • 19:15 Roberto Mancini: "If we go through it will be a big problem for the other teams ... I think that every team is worried regarding Manchester City because Manchester City in the future will become one of the top clubs in the world."

    • 18:55 TEAM NEWS: In-form Manchester City right-back Micah Richards is doubtful for their decisive Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. Richards has a slight calf problem and will be assessed but Pablo Zabaleta could take his place after recovering from a knock sustained in last week's Carling Cup win at Arsenal. Gael Clichy is likely to continue at left-back with Aleksandar Kolarov out for around three weeks with a groin problem.
    • 18:50 Bayern Munich will be without winger Arjen Robben and midfielder Toni Kroos for the match at the Etihad Stadium after the pair were struck down with flu. Forwards Thomas Mueller and Mario Gomez are also doubtful with similar symptoms.
