    Time:90'
    • Napoli
    • Bayern Munich
    • 90+4' The deluge of last-gasp substitutions take us into a fourth full minute of added time before the whistle finally goes. A point apiece means both sides remain in the winners' circle of Group A.
    • 90+3' Eye... Mascara... no? ANOTHER late switch for the sake of making it. Gomez is off, Luis Gustavo is on for a matter of mere seconds.
    • 90+2' These subs are all coming at once. Giuseppe Mascara will play about a minute and a half, replacing the disappointing Hamsik. Hardly enough time to catch the eye. Ha! I kill myself sometimes.
    • 90+1' There'll be three more minutes at the end of this one. Late winner, you reckon?
    • 90' And in the final minute of regulation time, we have our first Bayern switch. It's not Kroos, either: Ribery is the one making way for David Alaba.
    • 89' A second change for Napoli before we enter stoppage time: Mario Santana is on for Inler.
    • 88' Lavezzi holds the ball up well only to mis-hit his pass to Maggio who was sprinting down an empty right flank.
    • 87' Gomez fouls Campagnaro challenging for an aerial ball.
    • 86' Schweinsteiger capitalises on Napoli complacency but goes for goal instead of playing Gomez through. It's easily stopped by De Sanctis.
    • 85' The away side voluntarily put the ball out as Kroos goes down clutching his leg. There's five minutes left and three subs available to Bayern. It'd surely be foolish to make him play on?
    • 84' Maggio opts to try and find Hamsik short in the area instead of a traditional cross, but it's snuffed out by the Bayern defence. Real Madrid have made it 4-0.
    • 83' Yet another booking. This one's for Kroos for a foul on Inler.
    • 82' Boateng takes an errant arm to the face from the sub within seconds of his arrival.
    • 81' Ribery surges forward, is challenged by Maggio but gets back onto his feet and has to be thwarted a second time, this time by Cannavaro. We finally get our first change, it's Cavani making way for Blerim Dzemalli.
    • 80' It's Lavezzi involved again shortly after, having an attempted assist from the left collected by Neuer.
    • 79' Boatend eventually crosses low but Gomez attempts to leave it for Ribery and Napoli attempt to break immediately. It ends in the centre circle when Muller is booked for bringing down Lavezzi.
    • 78' Bayern playing keep ball again to loud jeers from the passionate home fans. Still no substitutes made tonight, 12 minutes remain.
    • 76' Lovely passing move by Napoli sees Cavani almost put through but he takes a touch too many and Van Buyten rescues the Bavarians.
    • 75' Kroos again has a shot blocked on the outer reaches of the Napoli box. Benfica are two up at Basel.
    • 74' Lavezzi wards off two markers to fire in a low cross which only gets as far as Van Buyten.
    • 73' Maggio still has plenty of energy, regardless of how much he's already exerted on this contest. He chases down a long raking pass down the right and his first touch beats Lahm but it's also heavy enough to take it off for a goal kick before he can continue on into the danger zone.
    • 72' ...until Bayern break magnificently and Kroos has a shot on the edge of the area closed down.
    • 71' Badstuber clatters Lavezzi. Napoli work the free-kick short before Kroos this time fouls. Again, Napoli are patient from the set piece...
    • 70' Van Buyten makes a rare error as a cross comes in, but Neuer is there to take the ball.
    • 69' Ribery fouls the lively Maggio inside the Napoli half.
    • 68' Another set piece from the hosts fails to get past the first man, this time Gargano at fault.
    • 67' Another looooong Bayern passage of passes, unable to breach the Italian area, before Napoli break and win a corner.
    • 66' Muller crosses, Maggio clears. Man United finally break the deadlock at Otelul.
    • 65' Not only does Lavezzi collect a needless booking for trying to edge the ball forward, the eventual set piece is poor and fails to beat the first man.
    • 64' After all of the free-kicks for the visitors in dangerous areas, now Napoli have a chance to send one into the zone from the right after Tymoschuk fouls Inler. But first, Lavezzi gets a yellow card for trying to move the free-kick forward.
    • 63' Hamsik is caught offside. The assistant had a choice of him and Cavani, in fact, when the ball was played.
    • 62' Another trademark spell of patient Bayern possession until Gomez is a little too patient inside the 'D' and loses the ball.
    • 61' Lavezzi bursts into the box from the left, but neither really shoots nor crosses and Neuer smothers it.
    • 60' Tymoschuk tries his luck from 20 yards first-time, and though it appears to catch Zuniga on its way wide of the far post, a goal kick is awarded.
    • 59' Ribery is booked for diving into the box.
    • 58' Napoli are on occasion finding gaps to squeeze into at lightning pace, and Zuniga does just that on the left wing, before sending a low centre into the box and finding Lavezzi... who for some reason takes a touch instead of trying to bury it, allowing Bayern to dispossess him and clear.
    • 57' Ribery plays a cut-back first time from the left to Gomez, who at the near post can't get enough space away from his marker to turn and shoot. It ends with a goal kick.
    • 56' 3-0 Real now against Lyon, who used to be such a thorn in the Madrid giants' side once upon a year.
    • 55' Boateng holds Zuniga and concedes a free kick which Napoli pass backwards and build up slowly.
    • 54' Bayern win two corners inside a minute. The first comes to nothing. The second comes to Van Buyten in the six yard box, he can't get a proper touch! Here's Muller on the rebound! Wide! Too close range for that to be forgiven.
    • 53' The kick is taken by Kroos, but dealt with by Napoli.
    • 52' Bayern win another free-kick, almost corner-like on the left.
    • 51' He's up now and play has resumed. Ajax are a goal to the good, and in the same group Real Madrid have doubled their advantage.
    • 50' Bayern have a free-kick on the right wing now. It's whipped past the far post where Schweinsteiger heads it across goal, but De Sanctis takes. He's down hurt after an ugly after-scene with both Muller and Cannavaro rushing in for the possibility of a spill.
    • 49' Gomez to take... SAVED AND HELD BY DE SANCTIS! Poor penalty low, slow, and far too central making it easy for the keeper. Justice?
    • 48' Hold that thought, we may have a goal in the opening four minutes of the half... Bayern have been awarded a penalty! Gomez's shot apparently hitting the arm of Cannavaro. Looked harsh to be honest.
    • 47' No shots at goal in the first two minutes of this half, unlike in the first. In fact Napoli have yet to shoot on target in this game and yet find themselves at 1-1.
    • 46' Bayern get the second half underway.
    • 45+2' Schweinsteiger runs onto a square pass and is denied access to the area by a pretty clear-cut foul, but no free-kick is given and the half-time whistle sounds almost immediately after.
    • 45+1' Just the one added minute here.
    • 45' Zuniga is now the next man booked as Muller attempts to break away for Bayern. We have a lot of players going into the second half one dodgy tackle away from an early bath. Many of them midfielders, too.
    • 44' Zuniga's cross is put out for another corner by Boateng. Man City have equalised.
    • 43' That goal, OG or not, has galvanised the home side a little. Eagerly pressing for possession now and it's working to an extent. Bayern not quite able to dictate the pace as they had for much of the first half.
    • 42' Maggio booked now for a wild challenge on Kroos.
    • 41' Campagnaro now to cross low from the right, and this one bobbles across goal but out for a goal kick.
    • 40' That was the first goal Bayern have let in since falling to a shock 1-0 defeat to Monchengladbach on August 7th, and their first conceded away from home since May. Wow.
    • 39' What a pass to Maggio on the right, he crosses low.... and Badstuber deflects it past his own keeper on the side! The clean streak run is over! Napoli are level!
    • 38' Better from Napoli now, in terms of possession, though it comes to an end when Zuniga jumps into Muller for the foul.
    • 36' Cavani and Lavezzi put tons of pressure on Neuer as he recieves a back pass, but the keeper is able to clear his lines.
    • 35' Replays show the cross actually came off the arm of Schweinsteiger. Napoli have struggled to impose themselves in the final third thus far but were unlucky not to have a chance from twelve yards there.
    • 34' Now it's time for the first Napoli corner. Lavezzi's low cross blocked. Played short to Campagnaro who crosses from deep to the far post where it's headed away.
    • 33' It's headed away at the far post but only to BOATENG! Volley is low but parried by De Sanctis! Another corner coming up. Now 4-0 to Bayern in corners, but this one's away danger-free.
    • 32' Great ball down the right flank by Boateng to pick out Muller, who wins a corner off his marker.
    • 31' Ribery wins a free-kick for himself soonafter, being pulled back by Maggio along the halfway line.
    • 30' Ribery harrasses Campagnaro as a long ball goes up the pitch, but fouls him in the process.
    • 29' Cannavaro will now miss the return game at the Allianz with his disciplinary record reaching the limit.
    • 28' Cannavaro also goes into the book moments later, presumably for failing to keep his thoughts to himself.
    • 27' The first corner leads to another, which leads to a foul by Bayern. Schweinsteiger is booked for a foul on Aronica, which was exaggerated by the defender.
    • 26' There's four players standing over this one, but it's Van Buyten who'll try to hammer it home... it's an awkward excecution, bit of a slip, and it flicks off Muller and out for a... corner? Bad call there.
    • 25' Muller runs into a dead end a few yards behind the 'D' and gladly accepts the free-kick given to him by Gargano's clumsy challenge.
    • 24' Cavani's progress is thwarted by Badstuber as the Italians look to conjure up a swift-moving attack.
    • 23' Tymoschuk gets a bit of further treatment on the touchline before coming back on after a long wait for the signal from the ref. Inter lead at Lille.
    • 22' Tymoschuk lands awkwardly going up for a high ball with Lavezzi. He's up, but limping. Benfica and Real Madrid are both ahead.
    • 21' Maggio brings the ball forward just on the right side of a central position and takes an ill-advised crack at goal from a similar distance as Gomez moments ago. His effort limps horribly wide.
    • 20' Lovely turn by Gomez, he's 25 yards away from goal but that's not going to stop him... fierce hit! Just wide!
    • 19' The hosts catch Bayern napping, however, and once again Cavani is unable to latch onto a quick through pass.
    • 18' Napoli's free-kick, a good 40 yards out, is sent into the area but dealt with and Bayern begin another patient spell of possession from the back.
    • 17' Tymoschuk escapes a booking with a late challenge on Inler. Helping his case was the ridiculous fall the Swiss playmaker took to make it look even worse than it was.
    • 16' Zuniga's cross looks for Cavani, but only finds Neuer. Napoli quickly get the ball back and go forward again, only for Van Buyten to prevent a final ball reaching Cavani with a full-stretch interception.
    • 14' Inler wins possession inside the centre circle and embarks on a decent run before his through ball to Cavani runs past the striker and out for a throw.
    • 13' Bayern end a portion of Napoli pressure by winning a free-kick against Gargano, who upended Kroos.
    • 12' A Maggio cross is blocked and then hoofed away by Lahm.
    • 11' Napoli's back line almost fluff their lines at the worst possible moment with Ribery and Muller pressing hard, but they eventually deal with the pressure. They've had a rough start so far.
    • 10' Kroos has a massive chance at a second both for him and for Bayern. A lengthy spell of patient possession inside Napoli's final third is capped by a Schweinsteiger cross to find the attacking midfielder at the far post, unmarked - but Kroos mis-kicks from close range.
    • 9' Hamsik's daisy-cutting ball forward is ridiculously heavy, going all the way back to Neuer, defending his 12-game clean sheet streak tonight. Unbelievable feat which may become 13 here in Italy.
    • 8' A Napoli counter-attack is nipped in the butt by the offside flag against Lavezzi.
    • 7' The Portugese official has a reputation for being very strict, and it's on display with the first booking of the game coming just seven minutes in. Badstuber gets a yellow for a sliding challenge on Lavezzi which comes nowhere near the ball.
    • 6' We also have an early goal in Group A's other fixture tonight - and shockingly enough it's Villarreal who'#ve taken the lead at Man City.
    • 5' Bayern surge forward again but it's an excellent tackle on Gomez by Cannavaro. Bayern have an attacking throw but it's cleared.
    • 4' Napoli go immediately on the attack to compensate for such a disatrous start, but Lahm prevents Hamsik from getting in a cross from the right and the hosts eventually give away a free-kick.
    • 3' An advanced Boateng does well to pick out the central run of Kroos into the box and he slots coolly past De Sanctis.
    • 2' GOAL! Bayern make a very early breakthrough, and it's Kroos!
    • 1' Napoli get the game underway.
    • 19:45 Napoli in their traditional sky blue tonight. Bayern are in all black. The teams are on the pitch and kick-off is next!
    • 19:40 "It's either a draw or a win for Bayern but I wish for a Napoli win" – Hussam Saleh, Tue 18 Oct 11:07AM
    • 19:35 Of course, while their collective stronghold would be broken in that scenario, only Napoli can be overtaken tonight. Bayern are guaranteed to retain at least a two-point cushion over third place, whatever happens. Tonight's official is Olegario Benquerenca (Portugal).
    • 19:30 The only way these two sides will not end the evening in the two all-important qualification spots is if Bayern defeat Napoli AND Man City see off Villarreal. The Italians have a four-goal edge in the goal difference stakes which would need to be overcome, too. Group A Standings
    • 19:25 The omens don't look good for the home side, I'm afraid: Napoli have lost their last four games in European competition against German opposition, while Bayern have kept four clean sheets in their last five Champions League matches.
    • 19:20 Speaking of dangerous forwards, Mario Gomez starts up front for the visitors, flanked by Ribery and Muller, and if he is able to net a hat-trick tonight he'll surpass Michael Ballack as Germany's top Champions League marksman. Gomez currently has 14 goals to his name, Ballack's 16 is the figure to beat.
    • 19:15 Both sides are almost at full strength tonight. No Arjen Robben for Bayern, but Luis Gustavo and Rafinha return to the squad on the bench. Britos, Pandev & Donadel all injured for Napoli, though the dangerous front three of Hamsik, Cavani & Lavezzi are intact.
    • 19:10 TEAMS - Napoli: De Sanctis, Campagnaro, Cannavaro, Aronica, Maggio, Gargano, Inler, Zuniga, Hamsik, Cavani, Lavezzi. Subs: Rosati, Fideleff, Dossena, Mascara, Santana, Dzemaili, Fernandez. /// Bayern Munich: Neuer, Boateng, Van Buyten, Badstuber, Lahm, Tymoschuk, Schweinsteiger, Muller, Kroos, Ribery, Gomez. Subs: Butt, Olic, Rafinha, Pranjic, Contento, Alaba, Gustavo
    • 19:05 Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri was equally respectful of the opposition: "The Germans are a team of champions," he said. "It will be very tough. We know we have to play the perfect match to beat Bayern. In football, you cannot take anything for granted and we will be trying our hardest."
    • 19:00 Heynckes seemed well aware of the task awaiting his Munich side when addressing the media this week, saying: "The atmosphere inside the stadium will be on fire. We have to be careful."
    • 18:55 Their last competitive tussle should seem ages ago, but nonetheless the Bayern manager for those games was none other than... current boss Jupp Heynckes. Now in his third spell as Bayern chief, the legendary boss hopes to add to his 1997-98 Champions League medal, won whilst in charge of Real Madrid, this season.
    • 18:50 These two sides have only crossed paths in European competition on one prior occasion - over twenty years ago. Napoli came out on top, with the Italian side winning 2-0 at home and earning a 2-2 draw away in the 1988-89 UEFA Cup semi-final.
