    • - Thanks for joining me tonight. Were City robbed? Were they even fortunate to be level at that stage? Let me know what you think via Twitter @liamhappe
    • 90+4' Last move of the match. Defensive City free-kick which Hart will pump towards all of his colleagues in the Ajax box. It's headed down by Dzeko and Balotelli has it with back to goal! Is that a shirt pull? Referee takes a long glance... but blows for full-time rather than a penalty! Van Rhijn was pretty clearly tugging on his shirt looking at the replays but it has ended 2-2 at the Etihad!
    • 90+3' The Ajax corner, bane of City's existence in the first half, flashes past the crowded box and to the feet of Fischer whose shot is so wide it goes out for a throw... Boerrigter is replaced by Tobias Sana in the final sub of the match.
    • 90+2' Fischer holds off his man and squares to Eriksen, who forces Hart to tip over a 20-yard drive!
    • 90+1' Into the first of at least three minutes of stoppage time, with the scores level and City on top...

    • 87' Dzeko goes wide from six yards under heavy pressure as Poulsen makes way for exciting prodigy Viktor Fischer.
    • 86' The third replacement wins City a corner within seconds but his own delivery is cleared.
    • 85' The flag kick comes to nothing as City make their final change with Alexsandar Kolarov replaces Barry.
    • 84' Cracking right-flank cross from van Rhijn, who has worked his tail off on the overlap in this match, but Kompany gets the decisive head to it at the expense of a corner.
    • 83' Nasri takes but Alderweireld nods it clear.
    • 82' Aguero brought down by Poulsen on the right wing and another set piece opportunity for a late winner...
    • 80' @IlyasDonxQuinte says via Twitter: "thanks to aguero.but they cant just depend on tied dont they.not with only 1 point here to stay alive on #UCL" - follow me @liamhappe and
    • 79' Foul on the right-hand side by Babel on Zabaleta as City come forth once more. Nasri whips in the delivery and Balotelli with the header! Fantastic diving save by Vermeer!
    • 78' Ajax look to shore up with fresh legs in the middle: Eyong Enoh is on for Schone in their first change of the match.
    • 77' Harsh offside flag against Aguero as City search for the lead.
    • 76' City have 14 minutes to complete the comeback. Can they do it? Will it matter in the group stage's long haul? Let me know on Twitter @liamhappe and
    • 75' World-class sliding challenge from Moisander prevents Zabaleta from bursting into the box from the right to collect a neat square pass.
    • 74' Again City go route one and this time it gets them parity. City fans finally finding their voice.
    • 73' GOAL! Aguero puts City level! Neat headed flick from Balotelli and Aguero latches on to drive the leveller low into the far corner! 2-2
    • 71' Ajax have a free-kick 22 yards out and de Jong will go for the hat-trick... again Hart saves!
    • 70' Hart comes way out of goal on the right-hand side to clear a loose ball but the rest of his team are well-enough situated to stop Ajax from having a dig at the open goal...
    • 69' City launch a break but it ends with a route one attempt to find Dzeko.
    • 68' Van Rhijn's driven delivery from the right is almost put into the City net by Zabaleta! But the ball bounces the other side of the far post for an Ajax corner.
    • 66' Like for like in City's second sub: Tevez off, Edin Dzeko on.
    • 65' Barry lets fly from 20 yards but slices miles off-target.
    • 64' Unfortunately for the Eredivisie side, their short corner play is telegraphed and cut out.

    • 62' Eriksen is surrounded by light blue shirts but nonetheless gets a shot at goal which goes wide.
    • 61' Zabaleta looks to feed Barry but the ball runs straight to Vermeer.
    • 60' Aguero picked out by a good cross-field pass and Vermeer has committed himself! The Argentine leaves him behind with a great turn! He's out of position for a shot but Balotelli is in the six yard area waiting... no, Aguero slips again! Ajax rescue the hairy situation!
    • 58' Such a cultured attempt there from the Ajacied skipper. Was dipping perfectly under the crossbar but the England keeper met it well.
    • 57' Now Babel orchestrates an Ajax counter and de Jong strikes from distance in search of a third! Great parry by Hart!
    • 56' Though the corner is cleared, Ajax have some work to do to keep City at bay as they retain possession on the outskirts of the area.
    • 55' City are turning the screw and Balotelli has space on the left-hand side of the box! Looks to push in a low centre for a tap-in but Poulsen intercepts for a corner!
    • 54' Half-time reaction from the Tweeps: Donx Quinte says "Barry kinda mess there.he seem had trouble marking ajax player.they should hav do better in the next 45" while Black Mamba is unashamedly partisan: "As a Manchester United fan i believe CITY will lose this" @liamhappe is the Twitter handle if you want to chime in...
    • 53' Clichy gets the loose ball and crosses diagonally to pick out Aguero perfectly! But the forward being offside helped out... he puts it in but it won't stand.
    • 52' The latest City set piece is 25 yards from goal and central but Toure blasts it into the wall.
    • 51' The away side spent most of the first half standing up their opponents in possession but are getting stuck in from the get-go here, mostly resulting in free-kicks.
    • 50' Another two rough slides in by Ajax players: first Alderweireld escapes a booking for bringing down Aguero and then Eriksen cuts through Tevez in virtually the same area on the left wing.
    • 49' Aguero looks to advance into the box for a crack at goal but slips on the pitch and the visitors clean up the danger.
    • 48' Blind enters the referee's book for a rough late challenge on Nasri.
    • 47' It's unsurprisingly an attacking switch as Balotelli does indeed make an appearance for Garcia.
    • 46' Ajax kick off the second half, leading by two goals to one against City, who have made a half-time change...
    • 45+1' In fact, there will not be a second straight flag kick as the whistle sounds. City trail to Siem de Jong's early brace but Yaya Toure's skillful volley gives them hope of surviving in the competition. Big 45 coming up. What will the full-time score be? Send me your predictions
    • 45' City win a corner at the end of the half, which Vermeer flaps at but manages to push away from danger at the expense of another one from the other side.
    • 44' Dortmund have re-taken the lead on the stroke of half-time! But who got the goal...? Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund: LIVE
    • 43' Ajax have settled back into the match following that mini-revival from City and the noise in the stadium is once again all from the away end.
    • 42' Moisander again answers the call for the Ajax defence as he beats Aguero in the air with ease to clear Toure's loft pass.
    • 41' Tevez may have half a case as he goes down under pressure from Alderweireld but the free-kick is given against him...
    • 40' The last few minutes of Ajax pressure, funnily enough, finally sparks some passion from the City fans as they urge their side to re-take control.
    • 38' Boerrigter cuts inside from the right and unleashes a decent drive, only narrowly over.
    • 37' Daley Blind is unable to keep an overcooked Eriksen cross from the right in play on the opposite flank.
    • 36' The match is growing a bit more quiet now after a lively start, which suits the home crowd who have made little to no noise thus far...
    • 35' Oh, and it's 1-1 at the Bernabeu now... Live updates
    • 34' De Jong, on a hat-trick of course, fires a low 20-yarder wide of Hart's goal. The keeper saw it going off-target safely.
    • 33' Despite Toure pulling one back, Neil Doherty (@manning0330) isn't a fan of Mancini's approach so far: "How can Mancini with so much talent at his disposal get it so wrong so often in crucial matches, it beggars belief!!"
    • 32' Tevez looks to play a final ball into a packed Ajax box but it misses every last leg and rolls through to Vermeer.
    • 31' Babel is put through one-on-one by Eriksen but the striker was offside.
    • 30' Great cross from the left and Zabaleta is there to meet it! On-target header but Vermeer gets a one-handed block before holding on.
    • 28' Dortmund lead at the Bernabeu! For more details check out Dan Quarrell's matchcast: Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund LIVE
    • 27' More pressure from City and Nasri's cross is deflected onto the path of Aguero, who looks to pick out Tevez only for van Rhijn to head it over the bar for a corner.
    • 26' Alderweireld does well to keep with Aguero and prevent him from meeting Tevez's through pass.
    • 25' Not only is it working in that respect, but van Rhijn is able to force Kompany into defensive action with a clearance of his cross from the right.
    • 23' Ajax do the right thing from the restart, looking to string together careful possession and frustrate a City side searching for a leveller with their newfound momentum.
    • 22' GOAL FOR CITY! One pulled back early as Nasri slices in a cross from the right off the outside of his boot and it's Yaya Toure who takes it down superbly and lashes in hope for the hosts. 1-2!
    • 21' It's back and forth stuff but still goalless between Real and Dortmund. LIVE updates
    • 20' Mario Balotelli is warming up already. Panic button changes?
    • 19' A tantalising cross from the right by Nasri almost finds Barry but Ajax get it away.
    • 18' Oh dear. It's going very wrong for City early at home. Anyone fancy a 3-2 comeback? Anyone...?
    • 17' GOAL AJAX! Two corners and two goals for de Jong! He heads home Eriksen's set piece at the near post. It's 2-0!
    • 15' Babel wins Ajax a second corner on the left off Zabaleta.
    • 14' Helping the fans' mood is their side's reaction to the opener: tails are up and the visitors are doing a much better job pressing the Citizens in possession now.
    • 13' Ajax have brought a good number of fans and as you can imagine, the atmosphere in the away end is up to new highs.
    • 12' Again Vermeer comes out with the ball from a traditional corner delivery. Will City's confidence take a huge hit from conceding so quickly and cheaply despite controlling the early stages?
    • 11' Ex-Liverpool man Ryan Babel, back helping to defend, has a heavy touch and concedes City's second corner, from which they win a third after taking it short.
    • 10' GOAL FOR AJAX! The sloppy defending continues as the hosts struggle to deal with Moisander's half-attempt from the set piece and allow Siem de Jong to slide in and poke home the opener from an angle. 0-1!
    • 9' Nastasic makes a hash of clearing a cross from the right and knocks it behind for a corner.
    • 8' Zabaleta has a crack coming inside from the right! Over the bar.
    • 7' The corner is caught by Vermeer but City are soon back in possession and Poulsen fouls Barry in the centre circle.
    • 6' Aguero has a crack from 20 yards and it nicks off the head of a defender for the first corner of the game.
    • 5' Good point from Edward Manning (@EdwardoManning) via Twitter regarding the pre-match experience debate: "Spurs made it to the quarters in a tricky (but easier) group. Experience isn't everything"
    • 4' Vermeer plays dangerously to allow a long ball to bounce into his area, where he can make the claim, despite Tevez being close by.
    • 3' Now the visitors, in navy blue and bright green away colours, make their first advance but the attempt to play Eriksen through on the right is off-key.
    • 2' City begin with steady possession along the back line before charging on their first attack, but Nasri's wizardry is unable to beat the numbers advantage of two Ajax defenders.
    • 1' The home side kick off what could be a crucial Champions League group stage fixture!
    • 19:45 Emmet Gates (@E_I_M_G) says he would be surprised with anything other than a home win. "Surely City'll get their win back!? Tevez and Aguero to score 1 each" well the teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is moments away.... keep your thoughts coming via Twitter @liamhappe
    • 19:40 Who will emerge victorious tonight? Will City be all but out of the group stages once again come 9:45pm? Who is your pick to get on the scoresheet? Send me your views and predictions...
    • 19:35 Worth an extra browser tab/mobile phone toggle job is the LIVE matchcast of the group's other game as Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund do battle in a Bernabeu blockbuster which could have implications on whatever result the two sides pick up at the Etihad. Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund: LIVE
    • 19:30 Ajax assistant coach Dennis Bergkamp's record against City as an Arsenal player was nine wins out of nine.
    • 19:25 Manchester City's media team speculate on how exactly tonight's line-up will operate via the official club Twitter: "We reckon Barry and Garcia shielding, Yaya with freedom to roam, Nasri/Tevez on the flanks." Reckon this will prove affective against the young, hungry Dutch academy club?
    • 19:20 City have won 14 and drawn four home matches in UEFA competition since September 2008, although Ajax dazzled their rivals and neighbours Manchester United in last season's Europa League, winning at Old Trafford in the second leg and almost dumping Fergie's men out entirely. Man Utd 1-2 Ajax
    • 19:15 It was just a fortnight ago that the Eredivisie club, winners of this very trophy in 1995, put City to the sword in the second half at the ArenA to leave Mancini's men in danger of an early exit. Here's Eurosport's own Jonathan Symcox with the blow-by-blow report from Amsterdam: City in damaging defeat at Ajax
    • 19:10 Is Mancini making excuses by suggesting City lack "Champions League experience" when in fact they have more experienced players in this competition than the rest of Group D? Or is there a fair point to be made that the club as a whole need time to adjust to participating in the competition? Follow me on Twitter - @liamhappe - and tweet over your views as we will be looking to publish them here on the matchcast.
    • 19:05 Ajax coach Frank de Boer: "All the teams in this group want to be playing Champions League football after the winter break. But, of course, Manchester City want to get nine points from their remaining matches. We will try to get a result here. We are not going to throw it all open but it is not in our nature to play defensively. We want to show how we play at Ajax, whether we are at home or away."
    • 19:00 Man City boss Roberto Mancini: "It is our second year in the Champions League and so we probably need more experience – not as players, because we have some who have played in the Champions League many times, but as a team. We also need some luck, because this group is very difficult and we made some mistakes in the games against Madrid and Ajax."

  1. Where have all the City fans gone? second home game and nowhere near a full house. Seems the fans are jumping ship and going back to the clubs they used to support before Abu Dhabi arrived. Man United 12 Man City 2 0ne billion spent on players and wages and still can't qualify for europes biggest trophy. At this rate they won't even qualify for the Europa Cup. No more expensive signings for Mancini forget Neymar he is out of your league doubt if he would want to play for a bunch of losers

  3. I hardly think it's Mancini's fault completely in fact I'd be very disappointed if he left! He's the best manager we've had for a long time and having seen the game not only should we have won it 3-2 we should have had a clear penalty! So the person responsible for Manchester City's loss wthout trying to sound cliche was the referee! I don't think it can be argued that Manchin has no passion for my beloved club nor do I think there is a better man for the job, so I'll take a few poor results on the chin in Europe for a few season, after all we won the Premiere League and FA Cup Trophies in 3 years which is an achievement if you ask me and yes I want us to win more but I dont think firing the manager who achieved these things in short succession is the answer!

  6. This is ALL Mancini's fault, he is USELESS GARBAGE as I have beeen saying for years ! It is a CRIME to spend millions and millions on world class players and not being able to get out of group stage 2 years in row. ; not being able to assemble the team capable to beat Ajax at home, win Epl only on GOAL difference in EXTRA time !! The sooner Man. CVity FIRES IDIOT Mancini - the BETTER OFF they will be !

Referee was an absolute disgrace. At 87 mins City scored the winner only to have it waved offside, it wasn't by quite a long way. Then at 93 mins Ballotelli was literally dragged to the ground by his shirt in the box, clearly seen by the ref but he ignored it and blew for time. A clear an abvious penalty. The ref should be removed from duty and investigated for his dubious/questionable behaviour.
