    • 90+3' The referee brings the game to an end. What an incredible finish to the match. It's finished Schalke 2-2 Montpellier. Thanks for joining us.
    • 90+2' Hilton is all over Huntelaar as the corner is swung in. The ball ricochets around the penalty area and strikes the hand of Yanga-Mbiwa but the referee blows for a foul as Papadopoulos pulls on his opponent's shirt!
    • 90+1' Farfan flies down the right and swings a devilish ball into the penalty area. Yanga-Mbiwa clears with a diving header. It's a corner.
    • 90' GOAL!! From nowhere Montpellier are level. Unbelievable. Souleymane Camara bends an unstoppable shot from the edge of the penalty area into the far corner. Unnerstall is left with no chance.
    • 88' HUNTELAAR SHOULD SCORE! Horrible miss. Barnetta finds the striker with a pass from the right. It eludes the defender and all Huntelaar has to do is beat the keepr from 12 yards. Somehow he manages to skew it horribly wide. Poor, poor effort.
    • 87' Stambouli's poor pass out wide is intercepted by Uchida, but the defender recover well to make the tackle.
    • 86' There are a lot of tired legs out there but the visitors have got to find something extra now. They've not posed a threat on Unnerstall's goal throughout the second half but will have to really go for it in these last few minutes.
    • 85' Cracking effort from Afellay. The Dutch winger cuts in from the left, knocks the ball past Yanga-Mbiwa and then attempts to curl it into the top right-hand corner. Jourdren is equal to it and makes a wonderful one-handed save.
    • 84' Uchida gets in a little nutmeg down on the right flank and then looks to be held back. He hits the deck but nothing is given.
    • 83' Tranquillo Barnetta is introduced and will take the place of Lewis Holtby who has worked very hard tonight.
    • 82' Poor. The ball into the penalty is hit straightg into the hands of Unnerstall. That is a complete waste.
    • 81' The visitors win a free kick in a dangerous position and, providing that the ball into the box is struck well, this could cause some trouble for Schalke.
    • 80' Schalke really don’t have to go and chase the opposition. They can afford to play a bit of keep ball which is sure to tire out Montpellier. 10 minutes to go to grab that all-important equaliser.
    • 79' If the French champions lose this, which is looking increasingly likely, they’ll almost certainly have to beat Olympiacos home and away and try to beat either Arsenal or Schalke in the return legs. A tall order.
    • 78' Cabella travels forward in a rare attack for the visitors. He should slide the ball into Tinhan but tries to go it alone. It's a very selfish decision and the forward is dispossessed.
    • 77' I've just heard that Julian Draxler is in an ambulance on his way to hospital. It didn't look too good for the 19-year-old as he fell awkwardly so he'll be going for an x-ray.
    • 76' As we enter the final quarter of an hour, this game is becoming very stretched. Both sides are guilty of giving the ball away far too easily.
    • 75' Hoger bursts through the middle and has options on either side. He delays his pass well and finds Holtby but the German's touch is poor which allows Yanga-Mbiwa to send the ball up the field.
    • 74' Afellay's long diagonal ball is brought down well by Huntellar but Yanga-Mbiwa is on hand, yet again, to mop up and head the ball into the arms of Jourdren.
    • 73' Fuchs is the man again to send the ball into the box. Papadopoulos misses the ball but Howedes follows up well. He looks to be caught out by the flight of the ball as it hits his arm and rolls out for a goal kick.
    • 72' Congre now goes into the book. There have been seven yellow cards tonight. The substitute Congre clips the heels of Afellay as the Dutchman attempts to race away down the left. No complaints.
    • 70' Cabella receives a yellow card for a very firm challenge on Neustadter. He gets an awful lot of the ball but does fly into the tackle.
    • 69' As expected another substitution is made. Jonathan Tinhan is sent on in place of Belhanda.
    • 68' Estrada is replaced by Joris Marveux as Rene Gerard sends a number of other players to warm up. This substitution could sharply be followed by another.
    • 67' Farfan has been a bit-part player for the German side so far this season, but he's been hampered with injuries so will be looking to get back to top form. A decent performance in the remaining 23 minutes will do him the world of good.
    • 66' Pukki, who has done well tonight, is replaced by Jefferson Farfan.
    • 65' WHAT AN EFFORT!! Afellay sends Holtby down the left and the young German cuts the ball back and pulls the ball back to Huntelaar on the edge of the area. The Dutchman lashes a first-time volley straight at the keeper who parries it away. Either side and that was a goal!
    • 63' Montpellier, to their credit, are still trying to play attractive, free-flowing football but it’s difficult for them with only one man up front.
    • 62' Fuchs' corner is met by Hoger but the midfielder can't keep it down from 12 yards. One more goal now, and this game should be all over.
    • 61' It looks all too easy for Schalke now. They’re taking advantage of the numerical difference and are stroking it from left to right. Uchida wins a corner.
    • 60' Camara does go into the book. It was a real striker’s challenge as he chases Holtby. He’s not a million miles away from the ball but it is definitely a yellow card.
    • 59' Holtby concedes a free kick on the half way line. He’s a fraction late on Estrada but the referee opts not to book the midfielder for the second time tonight, despite Estrada’s pleas.
    • 58' Congre can play in a central defensive role, but Rene Girard may go for three at the back and push the substitute into midfield in the hope of his side finding a goal.
    • 57' They’ve played very well so far, Montpellier, but you can’t help but think it is going to take something extra special if the French champions are to get anything out of this match.
    • 56' Montpellier are also forced into a change following the red card. Karim Ait-Fana is replaced by Daniel Congre.
    • 55' Terrible news for the hosts, and for Draxler who has been the stand-out man so far, as he is forced to go off. He fell awkwardly as he was brought down and has injured his forearm. He is replaced by Ibrahim Afellay.
    • 54' It was Bocaly that received the red car, by the way. It was a very clumsy challenge.
    • 53' GOAL!! Schalke are in front. Huntelaar missed his last penalty against Olympiacos but slides it into the right-hand side and sends the keeper the wrong way.
    • 52' PENALTY!! RED CARD, TOO! Draxler does the business, yet again. Somehow he manages to wriggle through three challenges before being brought down in the box.
    • 51' The home side have had the majority of possession in this second half so far. The two wingers for Montpellier are playing deep as the visitors look to hit on the counter attack.
    • 49' Fuchs' corner from the right is met by the towering Papadopoulos. The headed effort is on target but Jourdren saves well with his feet. It's all Schalke at the minute.
    • 48' The resulting corner is very poor and is cleared at the near post. Montpellier look to attack in numbers down the right.
    • 47' Schalke go close instanly. Pukki finds a bit of space on the edge of the penalty area and sends a shot across goal. Jourden is down very well to palm it around the left post.
    • 46' The second half is under way.
    • 45+1' The referee brings the first half in Gelsenkirchen to an end. 1-1.
    • 45' We have our fourth booking of the night.. Estrada overruns the ball and then lunges into a challenge with Pukki. It's another nasty one and the Montpellier man rightfully goes into the book.
    • 44' Pukki has an effort on goal from 25 yards but could’ve advanced on goal, had his first touch been better. Huntelaar again finds him but the control is weak which allows Hilton to put on the pressure. Pukki’s toe-poked shot is sent wide.
    • 42' Yanga-Mbiwa then nearly loses the ball on the edge of the penalty area as the two Schalke forwards try to crowd him out. The experienced defender dinks the ball in between them both and is able to carry it upfield.
    • 41' Cabella, defending deep, almost puts his team in real trouble when he tries to run it out of his own box instead of clearing it. Huntelaar wins it back but is then tackled by Hilton and the ball rolls into the hands of Jourdren.
    • 40' The home crowd are livid and so is Papadopoulos. Belhanda shows a turn of pace to flick the ball past the defender but then goes down very easily. The referee buys it but it’s soft.
    • 39' Fuchs’ inswinging corner is met by the towering Papadopoulos. The centre-back’s header is mistimed and goes wide by some distance. He should have done better with that from 10 yards.
    • 38' Uchida flies down the right before rolling the ball into Pukki. The front-man has a shot at goal which takes a deflection and out for a corner.
    • 37' Hoger controls the ball superbly on the right wing, produces a lovely drag-back to beat his man and then attempts a dinked reverse ball but it's cut out and sent into touch for a Schalke throw.
    • 36' Pukki is sent through down the right but Yanga-Mbiwa is across quickly to shield the ball and see it out for a goal kick.
    • 35' There's another yellow card, and it's a ridiculous one. Saihi is all over Neustadter and gives away a free kick. He then barges into the Schalke man as the free kick is about to be taken and goes into the book for his troubles.
    • 34' Holtby goes into the book and he’s pretty unlucky. It’s a heavy collision, but the german is attempting to make a block. His momentum sees him clatter into Bocaly and the referee shows a yellow.
    • 33' We’re tightly poised here. Many predicted Schalke, considering their current run in the champions league which has seen them win their last five at home, would win this comfortably but this could go either way.
    • 31' Holtby gives the ball away to Yanga-Mbiwa who suddenly picks up the ball. The referee looks confused but then realises that the Montpellier captain is holding up a flat ball. Bizarre.
    • 30' CHANCE FOR BELHANDA!! The No. 10 shows excellent footwork to evade two challenges on the edge of the penalty area and make space for a shot. It’s a decent shot that has the keeper beaten but it flashes narrowly wide.
    • 29' Good football from the home side. Huntelaar’s movement allows him to find space in the centre of the pitch and play in Uchida. The midfielder’s touch is poor and the ball runs out of play.
    • 28' There’s suddenly a very different atmosphere in the Arena AufSchalke. The home crowd are making a lot of noise as Schalke look to add a second.
    • 26' GOAL!! Fantastic goal from the hosts. It's Draxler. He's looked most likely to do something for Schalke. The 19-year-old makes a great run which is spotted by Huntelaar. The ball is weighted perfectly and allows Draxler to round Jourdren and slide the ball into the net.
    • 25' Huntelaar goes into the book. It’s probably a bit of frustration creeping in as he lunges at the ball and leaves his leg in. Saihi feels the full force of the challenge which is enough for the referee to brandish a yellow.
    • 24' Montpellier look to counter as Pukki loses possession near the half way line. Estrada looks to lead the counter but Fuchs is across to commit a cynical foul. Lucky not to be booked.
    • 22' Huntelaar pulls away from his defender and attempts to chest down a monstrous throw-in. It looks to hit his upper arm but the referee waves play on. The tall striker smashes a wild-half volley at goal which goes out for a throw-in. Poor.
    • 21' The visitors have the luxury of being a goal ahead and are really taking their time in playing it around the park. They’ll struggle doing it all night but this will frustrate the Germans.
    • 20' Draxler again. The 22-year-old german, Holtby, plays in Draxler down the right. He drops a shoulder before delivering a slap-shot across goal. The keeper looks confident of it going wide, and it does. Just.
    • 19' Holtby now guilty of making the wrong decision. He intercepts a poor pass and looks to break. Huntelaar is in acres of space but the youngster squares it to Draxler who wastes the chance. The Dutch striker is not too pleased.
    • 18' Draxler in the thick of it once again. He trades a one-two with Huntelaar and then has a pop at goal from 30 yards. Not one of his finest efforts as the ball sails high and wide.
    • 17' Since that goal, it has been all Schalke. Draxler should do better with the ball on the edge of the penalty area after some quick passing from the hosts. He elects not to shoot and looks to play in Huntelaar but it’s the wrong decision and the pass is cut out.
    • 16' Draxler pulls away from his man and receives the ball 30 yards from goal. He skips past one challenge and then rifles a low shot at goal. Jourdren is down well to hold on.
    • 15' What a goal that was. It came from nowhere. It had been a very cagey opening ten minutes but the visitors are in front.
    • 13' GOAL!! Great goal from Karim Ait-Fana. What a finish. Cabella does well to beat a number of men in the middle of the park before rolling it across to Ait-Fana. The winger takes one touch before unleashing a wonderfully-curled effort into the far corner from 18 yards.
    • 12' There’s been no real pattern to the game as of yet. We’ve two very patient and cautious teams here. As I say that, Cabella finds some space out wide and sends in a ball. Papadopoulos reacts quickest and flicks it away.
    • 11' Uchida bursts down the right flank and pulls the ball back into the path of Pukki, but the forwards effort on goal is weak and hits the first defender.
    • 10' Rene Girard, the Montpellier coach, has often come under some criticism for perhaps being too cautions in the way he sets up his team. The visitors are set up well tonight and could prove some of those doubters wrong!
    • 9' It's Huntelaar and Hilton again challenging in the air from the free kick. The Dutchman beats the defender to the ball but can't quite get over it and sends it out for a goal kick.
    • 8' Huntelaar rises highest as he looks to flick on Papadopoulos’ lofted ball. Hilton crashes into the back of him and gives away a free kick. Dangerous position.
    • 7' Holtby and Uchida exchange a number of passes as they look to get their team further up the field. They're being very patient as Montpellier are keeping a disciplined shape.
    • 6' Bocaly goes on a marauding run down the right wing but is stopped in his tracks and is forced backwards. He slips just before releasing the ball and concedes possession.
    • 5' Most of the play so far has been in the Schalke half. Montpellier really look comfortable on the ball. They do lose it as Howedes clears and the hosts look to break.
    • 4' Montpellier, who have won five of their last seven games away from home in all competitions, are stroking the ball around well at the moment.
    • 3' Claims for a handball on the edge of the penalty area as Camara controls the ball well. It appears to strike the arm of Howedes but he could do nothing about it. No foul.
    • 2' The ball instantly goes all the way back to the goalkeeper. Benedikt Howedes collects it and plays it across to his defensive team mate, Papadopoulos. The ball is sent up field towards Huntelaar but is cut out.
    • 1' Russian referee Sergei Karasev sounds his whistle to get this match underway. The home side, in blue, kick off.
    • 19:40 Both teams are in the tunnel waiting to make their way onto the pitch. Germany international defender Benedikt Howedes leads the line for Schalke with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa ready to lead his side out.
    • 19:35 Two years later they reached the final yet again, beating MSV Duisburg in the semi-final, but this time were able to lift the trophy – beating Hamburg 3-0 on penalties after both legs ended in a 1-1 draw.
    • 19:30 Montpellier haven’t faced opponents from Germany since 1999. There only previous six fixtures all came in the Intertoto Cup. In 1997 they advanced to the final after securing a win against Cologne courtesy of the away goals rule. They lost the final to compatriots Lyon.
    • 19:25 Die Knappen’s only meeting with a Ligue 1 Club in the Champions League came in 2010 when they put Lyon to the sword. Jefferson Farfan scored the opener before a brace from Klaas-Jan Hunterlaar ensured a 3-0 victory.
    • 19:20 Their most recent ties against French teams saw Schalke victorious against AS Nancy-Lorraine in the 2006/07 EUFA Cup first round where they won 1-0, and then 3-1 against Paris Saint-Germain in the group stage of the 2008/2009 competition.
    • 19:15 This will be the first time that the two clubs face each other, but Schalke will be buoyed by previous encounters with French opposition. They have won all three home games whenever they have faced a team from neighbouring country France, although they’ve lost both away fixtures.
    • 19:10 Montpellier line up in a surprisingly attacking 4-3-3 formation. Karim Ait-Fana and Remy Cabella are the two wide men supporting Souleymane Camara, but you can’t help in thinking they’ll be very busy tonight – dropping deep to crowd the midfield in the hope of stifling the home team.
    • 19:05 The hosts line up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Teemu Pukki given the nod up front to partner Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Roman Neustadter is the holding mifielder as Lewis Holtby playing the attacking role in the midfield diamond.

    • 18:55 2011/12 French champions Montpellier had a contrasting result to that of Schalke’s in the opening round of this year’s champions league. They lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal and will feel that they need to get a result in this clash tonight.
    • 18:50 Schalke currently lie joint top of the table in Group B, alongside Arsenal, following their 2-1 victory over Olympiacos on matchday one.
    • 18:45 Good evening and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Schalke’s Champions League Group B match against Montpellier at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen.
