FULL-TIME: Besiktas 0-0 @Arsenal. The tie remains finely poised for the return leg at Emirates Stadium next week http://t.co/YU5QRxNYHR

There goes the final whistle. It has ended 0-0. The second leg is next Wednesday at the Emirates.
Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic has been sent to the stands for complaining.
We are into four minutes of time added on then.
Arsenal Substitution
We are heading into injury time in Istanbul. A goal at either end will win this one now.
Giroud guilty of fouling Franco after a fine run and cross by Debuchy. Arsenal nearly over the line for a 0-0 draw.
Besiktas Substitution
On comes Rosicky for Arsenal as Cazorla departs the scene.
Zengin was beaten by the power of the shot, but the goalkeeper managed to get a hand on the ball to deflect it onto the post. Superb goalkeeping.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has hit the post. So unfortunate. Brilliant little run and finish, but the ball comes back out. Almost a dramatic late winner.
Arsenal have a corner here that Oxlade-Chamberlain will throw over. Devilish corner, but Chambers and Giroud fail to connect. Decent chance for Arsenal not taken.

5 - Arsenal's last five goals in Champions League qualifying away games have all arrived in the second half. Patience.

1 - Aaron Ramsey has been sent off for the first time in his club career. Rambo.

Motta takes up a decent position out wide, but he lifts the cross straight out of play. Poor, poor delivery.
Besiktas Substitution
Oguzhan Ozyakup is going to depart the scene with Kerim Koyunlu taking over.

.@AaronRamsey pulls back Ozyakup and receives a second yellow card. @Arsenal have to play the final minutes with ten men (81) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Arsenal will need to survive with 10 men for the final 10 minutes or so. Wenger is none too happy with the referee's decision, but not much else he could do with that one.
A second yellow card for Ramsey, and he is off the park. Red card for Ramsey after taking out Oguzhan Ozyakup.
Monreal drives the free-kick through the wall, but straight into the arms of Zengin, who manages to collect the loose ball at the second attempt.
Late challenge by Ismail on Monreal that time. Cazorla to take this free-kick.
Oguzhan Ozyakup was booked for dissent, but Arsenal have been awarded a free-kick here. This could bring something.
Oguzhan Ozyakup goes into the book. This match all a bit messy and ragged with neither side creating much.
Besiktas Substitution
Arsenal Substitution
This game threatening to boil over with Motta late on Ramsey this time. Both sides need to keep their cool.
On comes Tore for Besiktas, off goes Sahan.
Sanchez departs the scene to be replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the visiting team.
Ramsey goes in late on Motta. Didn't look too much in that challenge.
Ismail taking up a good place on the run down his right flank. Throws over the cross, but Szczesny is again alert to gather.
Szczesny off his line to punch clear the Ozyakup corner. Solid piece of goalkeeping.
Giroud just failing to connect with his right foot. One of Arsenal's best attacking moves of the night, it must be said.
Sanchez to Debuchy, ball comes across the face of the Besiktas goal, but nobody on hand to convert. Real chance for Arsenal.
Monreal goes in late on Pektemek. And he is going to be booked for that one. Can have no complaints.

The second half has settled down after a breathless opening 15 minutes. Besiktas are offering more going forward, though (60) 0-0 #BESvAFC

So we head for the hour-mark. A poor challenge by Giroud on Kavlak. Miles late with that one. Not sure what he was doing there.
Franco collides with Giroud, but no free-kick to the Arsenal forward, who doesn't look too pleased with that decision.
Motta with a shot at goal from distance, but the ball is blocked. Arsenal with plenty of bodies back.
Ramsey picked up his booking after taking out Necip Uysal. Bit silly from him. The home fans again making plenty of noise.
Aaron Ramsey has gone into the book for a late challenge, and Flamini then brings down Kavlak. Referee Milorad Mazic suddenly busy.
Slaven Bilić in a stand-off with the referee. Bilic sporting quite a daunting beard it must be said.
Motta has picked up a booking for a late, late challenge on Sanchez as he went to ground.

Big chance for Besiktas. Olcay Sahan is found in space and curls past the far post. This game is so open now... (48) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Arsenal Substitution
Arteta in a spot of trouble here. Hobbling heavily. Looks like he may have run his race for this evening.
Glorious chance for Sahan, but he knocks the ball wide of goal after managing to turn inside Koscielny, who again gets beaten far too easily. Poor, poor defending really.

.@AaronRamsey pounces on a mistake and plays a return pass with @_OlivierGiroud_ but his touch lets him down and Zengin sm (46) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Off we go then for the second period. Arsenal get it off and running.

HT: Besiktas 0, Arsenal 0. All square so far at a loud Ataturk Stadium. Good chances for both sides. #UCLonFOX http://t.co/wG1R0pCxMm

Not sure there is going to be much time added to this first half.

What a chance! @AaronRamsey lifts a terrific pass into @_OlivierGiroud_ who mis-controls and Besiktas recover (45) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Giroud cutting a frustrated figure. Golden chance for Arsenal to open their account this evening.
Lovely pass from Ramsey to find Giroud, but he can't cash in as the ball drops into the arms of Zengin.
Error by Chambers, but Ba can't punish the youngster. Bounds in towards goal, but drives the shot wide from 16 yards with Szczesny diving to his left. Sholud have been the opener.
Franco goes in late on Giroud, who is going to need some treatment. That was a solid challenge.
Giroud tries to flick the ball on, but ends up finding nobody as Zengin comes out to collect.
Ismail has a go at goal from distance, but the ball trundles harmlessly into the arms of Szczesny. All very tame.

.@JackWilshere plays a one-two with @_OlivierGiroud_ and tries to bend home an effort but Zengin saves (39) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Kavlak has looked lively for the home side this evening, but well off the target with a volley on that occasion. High and not so handsome.
Sanchez with his latest run and cross, but all too easy for Zengin to come off his line to collect.

Ba drives at @CalumChambers95 but the young defender times his challenge to perfection and clears the danger (33) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Chambers with another excellent tackle to win the ball from Demba Ba this time.
Chambers having an assured night so far. Sanchez on the run for Arsenal, but he is relieved of possession. Too many bodies chasing him.
Sanchez with another burst into the home box, but he runs out of ground before he can come up with the cross. Goalkick to Besiktas.
Kavlak decides to go for goal. Plenty of power on the strike, but straight into the arms of Szczesny. Comfortable enough in the end.

.@_OlivierGiroud_ clips a clever cross towards @Alexis_Sanchez but Motta just gets there before the Chilean to turn behind (26) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Chambers deemed to be late on Ba out wide. Referee having a word with the £16m man.
Chambers with a timely challenge on Kavlak after the ball had gone through the legs of Monreal. Appeals for a penalty, but nothing doing.
Arsenal have never lost in 90 minutes against a Turkish side, conceding just twice in seven meetings: W4 D3 L0 (W2 D1 L0 at home, W2 D1 L0 in Istanbul). They did, however, lose the final of the 2000 UEFA Cup 4-1 on penalties against Galatasaray after a 0-0 draw after extra time
Arsenal keeping the ball. Trying to take the sting out of this match a bit. As they should be doing. Not too many chances at either end.
Ismail with a run and cross, but it flies behind for a corner to the home side.
Sanchez with a deflected cross, but flies straight into the arms of Zengin. And on we go then with the score level at 0-0.
A late challenge by Arteta on Kavlak, and that will be a free-kick to the Turkish side around the halfway line.
Plenty of noise from the home supporters, but Arsenal don't seem too ruffled by what they are facing.
Besiktas with a bit of possession football before Ismail throws a cross straight into the arms of Szczesny in the visiting goal.
Chambers goes in a bit late on Ba, and that will be a free-kick to the home side inside their own half. Not the worst free-kick to give away.
Giroud nods harmlessly over the bar from the Sanchez corner. Couldn't keep the ball down in a crowded area.
Sanchez again on the run for Arsenal. Superb speed by the former Barcelona winger, and he earns a corner for his side.

.@Alexis_Sanchez finds @19SCazorla, who makes room for a shot but it fizzes across goal and wide. Better from @Arsenal (13) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Sloppy defending by Besiktas, but Cazorla drives the ball wide of goal from the Sanchez pass. Decent hit and run, but just off target as the shot sails wide.
Both of the Besiktas full-backs trying to get up the park to support their midfielders. Should give Sanchez plenty of scope to thrive.
Giroud with a chance at the other end, but he can't turn in time to stab the ball home from the Sanchez ball. Zengin eventually picks up. Decent enough defending by Besiktas.
Szczesny with a fine stop from a Ba volley. Ozyakup with the cross. Superb little delivery from him.. Fine attacking move.

Besiktas have made the brighter start with Ba, Mustafa and Ozyakup looking threatening... (5) 0-0 #BESvAFC

Debuchy is limping here after a strong sliding challenge by Uysal. Back on his feet seconds later. And on we go.
Motta swings over a cross from deep, but Chambers with a superb clearing header in the visiting box.
Koscielny wallops the ball long down the park. Mustafa doing well to win the ball. Rolls it back to his goalkeeper Zengin seconds later.
The Ataturk Olympic Stadium's surface may cause the visiting side a few problems. Besiktas certainly starting this match in a lively mood.
Right from the kick-off that one. Arsenal need to be careful here. Pitch looks awful for playing football as Szczesny comes off his line to collect a loose ball.
And the home side hit the bar. Demba Bar hits the bar from the halfway line. Not sure Szczesny was getting there. So unfortunate.
Off we go then with Besiktas taking the kick-off. The home side get the ball rolling.
Fair old home crowd have turned up for this one. Plenty of empty spaces, and a running track around this park. One minute's silence for Süleyman Seba, the former club president and player. And we are almost ready to go here.
Arsenal have never lost in 90 minutes against a Turkish side, conceding just twice in seven meetings: W4 D3 L0 (W2 D1 L0 at home, W2 D1 L0 in Istanbul). They did, however, lose the final of the 2000 UEFA Cup 4-1 on penalties against Galatasaray after a 0-0 draw after extra time. Demba Ba, who scored a hat-trick for Besiktas in his first start for the club in the third qualifying round, struck twice against Arsenal on 29 December 2012 –i n his last match for Newcastle United. The Magpies lost that match 7-3.

Arsenal's season is still in its infancy but already the Gunners find themselves under huge pressure as Arsene Wenger takes his side to Istanbul for a crunch Champions League qualifier against Besiktas. Qualification for the group stage of the competition is crucial, both in terms of success on the pitch and in financial terms - some would argue the two are mutually exclusive - and Wenger himself has admitted his "desperation" to get through. He won't be helped by something of a defensive crisis in the Arsenal ranks, although he has reinforcements to call on in Istanbul, and the Gunners.
Besiktas have concerns over midfielder Atiba Hutchinson, who has a hamstring problem and is rated as only 50-50. Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba, who scored a hat-trick in the second leg of the third-round tie against Feyenoord, is expected to lead the line for the Turkish side Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering bringing defender Per Mertesacker back from his post-World Cup layoff early as injury cover. Defenders Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs suffered knocks in Saturday's last-gasp 2-1 win over Crystal Palace meaning Mertesacker, who last week announced his international retirement, could be drafted in to play in Turkey.
Arsene Wenger: "We are desperate to go through, no matter what it costs we want to go through. We have always a difficult draw, we had Fenerbahce last year, this time we have Besiktas. It's difficult. It is a big test. We had a short preparation, and we know that in one week we have three big games. Besiktas home and away, and Everton in between. Every game you win makes you stronger. On that front winning games helps you to gain confidence. The group still needs to grow."
Slaven Bilic: "Arsenal are the favourites, but we also try our best. We have a dream and we will do our best to make it happen. We are ready with everything for this game. We know very well the opponent and have prepared well. We have respect for our opponents, because we are playing against one of the strongest teams in Europe. We have a game plan, and the players have to implement this plan."
