90'+2
Well, the home fans deserved that at least.
90'

GOOOOAAAAL! 1-6! The wonderful Schalke fans have a goal to cheer! Huntelaar catches a cross superbly to bury the ball into the top corner with a first time volley! Goal of the night!
89'

GOOOOOOAAAALLLL! 0-6! This is incredible! Ronaldo adds his second after Isco wins the ball in midfield, passes to Benzema who lays off Ronaldo to round the 'keeper and finish coolly.
87'
The rest of the Champions League will be sitting up and taking notice after this dominant Real Madrid performance. There won't be too many eager to be drawn against them in the quarter final.
85'

Another great move from Real Madrid but Benzema steps into an offside position as he collects Marcelo's pass.
83'
Santana showing who's boss as he easily shoulder charges Jese to the ground.
82'
Despite trailing by five goals, the Schalke fans continue to make all the noise. Fantastic support.
81'
Ronaldo skips past a Schalke challenge before unleashing a shot at the keeper from the edge of the area which the goalkeeper is equal to.
Real Madrid Substitution
79'

Jese - who holds the record for the amount of goals scored for Madrid's 'B' side - makes his way onto the pitch in place of Bale who won't get his hat-trick tonight.
77'
Schalke continue to put pressure on the Madrid defence but Casillas still hasn't been tested since the early stages of the match.
FC Schalke 04 Substitution
75'
Better football from Schalke who hold the ball around Real Madrid's final third but a poor cross from Howedes concedes possession.
74'

Kolasinac has collided with a Madrid player and seems to have hurt his jaw. He is replaced by Fuchs.
Real Madrid Substitution
72'

Ilarramendi replaces the classy Alonso who has been tireless tonight.
FC Schalke 04 Substitution
71'

Schalke are looking towards their next fixture against Bayern Munich - Obasi replaces Farfan.
70'
This is embarrassing for the hosts. Madrid are cutting their defence open at will and we could be seeing even more goals by the time the final whistle blows.
69'

GOAAAL! 0-5! Ramos plays a defence splitting pass which Bale runs onto before slotting home. Easy.
Real Madrid Substitution
67'

Madrid finally make a change as Isco replaces Di Maria.

The visitors come forward once more with Ronaldo running at terrified defenders, he finds Benzema at the edge of the penalty area but a good tackle is made by Santana.
65'
OptaFranz: Real Madrid have scored four goals in an European away game in Germany for the first time.
63'
No great tempo being shown from either side: the hosts dead and buried and the visitors in cruise control.
62'
Madrid win a corner which Pepe rises highest to but Huntelaar is back to do his defensive work.
61'
With 30 minutes still to play will Ancelotti start making changes with the Madrid derby to look forward to at the weekend?
59'

Finally Schalke make a substitution: Leon Goretzka replaces the disappointing Draxler.
FC Schalke 04 Substitution
58'
OptaFranz: Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 31 goals in his last 25 Champions League games.
57'

GOAAAAAL! 0-4! Benzema makes it four! One-two played with Ronaldo, the French man runs onto the return and he buries the ball into the back of the net.
54'
Schalke - who we can't forget are unbeaten in their last eight games and are only one point behind the automatic Champions League spot - have looked like little boys tonight.
53'
Game and tie surely over. Ronaldo's goal was coming. Poor Matip didn't know whether he was coming or going. You cannot afford to leave Ronaldo with that much space.
52'

GOAAAAAL! 0-3! And Ronaldo finally has his goal! Bale passes to Ronaldo who finds Matip on his own at the edge of the box, he sells the defender a couple of step overs before hammering the ball into the net.
49'
Madrid burst forward on the counter attack with Ronaldo driving down the left flank. His cross is unconvincingly cleared by Draxler for a Real corner.
48'
Half chance early in the second-half for Schalke as Farfan fires a shot from distance at Casillas who has to push the ball away from goal.
47'
In the first-half, Real Madrid completed 316 passes compared to Schalke's 212.
46'
And we're back! Real Madrid get us underway for the second-half.
45'+1
Another big save from Fahrmann as Benzema plays Ronaldo through on goal but the goalkeeper denies the Portugal star with his feet this time.
45'
One minute of added time to be played in a very one sided first-half. Schalke find themselves fortunate to be just two goals down.
44'
Marcelo finds himself in space on the wing once more, tries to pick out Benzema at the back post but the cross is just too far and the French star just can't reach it despite his best efforts.
43'
Farfan runs at the Madrid defence on the flank but Di Maria shows good strength to win the ball back.
42'
Bale picks the ball up on the flank before delivering a dangerous ball across goal but Schalke clear.
41'
The visitors, in no hurry whatsoever, are playing a patient game at the moment.
40'
Schalke dispossess Bale but give the ball straight back to their opponents, much to the frustration of the home support.
39'
The free-kick - which is taken by Ronaldo - is blasted into the wall.
38'
Boateng commits a late and silly lunge on Ronaldo and Real Madrid have a free-kick in Ronaldo territory.
37'
Ronaldo has scored 34 goals in 32 matches so far this season and I'd be surprised if he doesn't add to that stat tonight.
36'
Di Maria releases Ronaldo in behind the Schalke defence and from a tight angle forces Fahrmann into a good save. Corner.
35'
MATCH STATS: Real Madrid have had 58% of possession compared to Schalke's 42%. Madrid have had five attempts to the hosts' four.
34'
Schalke finally have 11 men again as Draxler makes his way back onto the pitch.
33'
The visitors completely controlling possession now. It's only a matter of time before they grab their third.
31'

30'
Ronaldo picks the ball up in space, drives forward, plays a couple of step overs before driving the ball low and hard at goal and only the post denies him. Brilliant.
28'
Di Maria - who has just picked up a booking for a tackle on Farfan - delivers a dangerous corner across the face of goal but Schalke clear.
27'
That second goal looks to have knocked the stuffing out of the hosts who now appear to be devoid of confidence.
26'
They aren't just as noisy but Schalke fans still making the most noise.
25'
OptaJoe: Five of Gareth Bale's seven Champions League goals have come away from home.
24'
Bale - full of confidence from that wonderful goal minutes before - blasts the ball over the bar from 25 yards.
23'
Get in contact through Twitter: @DarrenBeatz - I want to hear your thoughts on the opening 23 minutes.
22'
I predicted a score-line of 0-2 before kick-off but I didn't see Real Madrid leading by two goals at this stage. Ancelotti will be delighted with the start his side has made.
21'

GOAAAAAAL! 0-2 REAL MADRID! A stunning finish from Bale who beats three Schalke defenders before striking the ball with the outside of his boot beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
19'
Modric picks out Carvajal on the flank but the full backs cross is one of the worst you'll ever see and the ball rolls out for a throw-in.
18'
Some clever defending from Marcelo puts an end to Schalke's attack. It's been a very even match so far.
17'
Bale comes forward once more for the visitors but is held in his tracks by a tackle from Santana.
16'
The free-kick comes to nothing.
15'
Di Maria concedes a late foul on Boateng and Schalke have a free-kick.
14'
GREAT STOP! Draxler should score but a wonderful save from Casillas denies the forward who latches onto a cross but hits straight at the goalkeeper from close range!
13'

GOAAAAAL! 0-1! Benzema rattles in his 19th goal of the season and it's inspired by Bale! The Welsh wizard jinx forwards, plays a one-two with Ronaldo, the ball ends up with Benzema who makes no mistake with a concise finish.
11'
Benzema picks up the ball in space and tries to slide Ronaldo through with a searching pass but Fahrmann is quick to collect.
9'
Schalke come forward through Draxler, the ball finds Neustadter who fails to beat the first defender with a cross.
7'
Howedes makes a successful tackle on Ronaldo - much to the amusement of the home fans.
6'
Casillas hasn't conceded a goal in his last nine games.
5'
Madrid holding the possession but the Schalke fans making the noise.
4'

Another tight call but this time it's the right one as Benzema is called for offside. Schalke are playing a high line and they've nearly been caught out twice early on.
3'

Ronaldo is wrongly flagged offside, fortunately for the hosts as the Real Madrid star had found himself behind the defence.
2'
And an early Schalke corner causes mayhem in the Real Madrid danger zone. Howedes finds himself unmarked but can't get enough power on the header and it goes out for a goal-kick.
1'
And we're off!
-
Full-time! What a convincing victory for Real Madrid. 1-6.

The Veltins-Arena is bouncing and we're ready for lift off!
19.40
We're five minutes away from kick-off. Schalke boss Jens Keller insists his side need a minor miracle to progress to the final eight of the Champions League. Can they produce a surprise result tonight? We're about to find out...
19.35
Iker Casillas: "We are where we want to be. We are alive in three competitions and we are fighting to win them all. We know it's going to be difficult to win a treble but we will try. The team is playing well and we are going through a good spell. We are giving away few goals while we are solid in attack."
19.30
Huntelaar: "I think our best weapon is our attacking play. We can score a goal at any point during the match and we are always a threat up front. You know that Germany tends to be a nightmare for Real Madrid. It's a good sign but we will see what happens. After all, this is football."
19.25
I'm Darren Beattie and I can be found on Twitter: @DarrenBeatz. Feel free to get in contact and let me know your thoughts on tonight's match. I'm going for a 0-2 victory for the Spanish giants.
19.20
Ancelotti's men have had no problem scoring recently, they've netted 15 times in their last five games and they're sure to be even more destructive with the return of Cristiano Ronaldo who has missed the previous three league games. Ronaldo has provided nine Champions League goals this season, a record for the group stage. Real found the net 20 times as they dominated a pool which included Galatasaray, Juventus and Copenhagen.
19.15
Schalke 04 are boosted with the return of Julian Draxler who had missed out with an ankle injury. Kevin-Prince Boateng, Max Meyer and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - who plays against his former club - are also handed a place in the host's starting line-up.
19.05
If Real Madrid are to get anything from tonight's match, they will have put right their terrible right on German soil where they have just one win in 25 matches, and none in their last 10 visits.
La Decima is an obsession, says Carlo Ancelotti - Realmadridnews.com

Winning a tenth European Cup, La Decima, is an obsession for Real Madrid, according to boss Carlo Ancelotti.

19.00
Can Schalke 04 stop this man tonight?
18.55
Tonight's hosts are unbeaten in their last eight matches, winning six and drawing two. Despite a poor start to the season, they sit fourth in their domestic league, just one point behind an automatic Champions League spot. Real Madrid meanwhile haven't been defeated in 27 games - winning 23 of those. Carlo Ancelotti's men are through to the final of the Copa Del Rey where they will meet Barcelona. They currently hold a three point advantage over their rivals in the La Liga.
