    • 90+3 And that's it from St James' Park. A win on Saturday against Peterborough, coupled with defeat for Forest away at Bristol City and the home side will be promoted.
    • 90+2 The home faithful are in full voice. The Magpies could be promoted by Saturday evening following this result.
    • 90+1 Enrique confirms the victory with a great goal. He collects a short corner from Gutierrez, finds Ameobi and continues his run. Ameobi returns the ball back to the Spaniard who, from a tight angle, remains composed, drops his shoulder and fires past Camp.
    • 90' McCleary scythes down Gutierrez and is duly booked. Guthrie stands over the free-kick and gets it up and over the wall. Camp pushes it wide for a corner.
    • 89' Newcastle begin to run the clock down with a period of keep ball. Forest look a beaten side.
    • 87' Gutierrez wins a corner. Guthrie's delivery is cleared only as far as Routledge but the winger's effort is blocked.
    • 85' Routledge runs the clock down with a mazy cross-pitch run. Throw for Newcastle deep in Forest territory.
    • 84' McCleary gives away a free-kick when in good possession down Newcastle's left - Billy Davies looks far from happy with that show of petulance.
    • 83' Newcastle are far from sitting on this lead and go for the jugular but begin to look fragile on the break. McGoldrick leads a break but chooses the wrong ball and the Magpies clear.
    • 81' Good patient play from Newcastle and some great movement from the home side opens up enough space for Gutierrez to shoot, who sees his effort deflected over for a corner.
    • 78' Newcastle waste the corner for.
    • 77' Great save from Lee Camp. He gets a strong right hand to a well struck Kevin Nolan effort to keep his side in the game.
    • 75' St James' Park is absolutely bouncing.
    • 73' Routledge leaves his position on the wing to cut inside and sting the palms of the Camp in the Forest goal. The keeper can't hold onto it but a Forest defender sweeps clear.
    • 70' Goal for Ameobi and Newcastle. Nolan capitalises on some confusion in the Forest midfield and collects a loose ball before feeding Ameobi. The big striker turns his man before firing across Lee camp into the far corner.
    • 69' Simpson and Routledge make great strides down the right but the move falls away.
    • 69' McCleary for Tyson for the visitors.
    • 67' Forest continue to look dangerous on the break and it takes a great last ditch challenge from Williamson to deny Blackstock a clear cut opportunity.
    • 65' Newcastle begin to reaffirm their dominance on the game but Ameobi goes a fraction early.
    • 63' Tyson wins a corner from Coloccini. Blackstock almost connects with Majewski's delivery but a moment's hesitation allows Harper to collect.
    • 61' Guthrie's effort has plenty of power on it but is always rising.
    • 59' Ameobi wins a free-kick from Wes Morgan in a dangerous area and the big defender is in Wiley's book.
    • 58' Paul Anderson surges forward but Coloccini breaks from his position on the right of defence to block the midfielder's effort.
    • 56' Forest continue to play a high pressing game.
    • 54' Tyson is a lot more involved this half. He has been offside twice already this period but if he times that run right once he'll be clean through on goal.
    • 52' Scrappy start to the second period but Forest will be pleased with the way they've started it.
    • 49' Carroll can't quite get over that injury from the first half and is replaced by Ameobi.
    • 48' Harper leathers the ball up field and Camp collects.
    • 47' Early chance for Tyson. But, without realising the time he had, the striker snatches at the effort and scuffs into the arms of Harper.
    • 46' Back underway at St James'. Forest kick off.
    • 45+2 And that’s it from the first forty five. Newcastle have dominated but are yet to convert that dominance into goals.
    • 45' Enrique trashes wide from out on the wing but Newcastle continue to look threatening and it is surely only a matter of time before the hosts take the lead.
    • 43' What an incredible scramble! Carroll's flick hits the back of Lovenkrands and spins towards goal. Camp pounces on it but can't collect. Lovenkrands struggles with the 'keeper, who still can't claim it. Nolan joins in the melee but gives away a free-kick for what looks like stamping.
    • 41' The Magpies come again with Gutierrez but Perch puts in another well timed challenge. The resulting corner is easily dealt with by the visitors.
    • 39' Newcastle break but Lovenkrands' intended ball for Carroll has too much on it and Forest have a goal kick.
    • 37' Great block from Nolan. The former Bolton man throws himself in front of Moussi's powerful effort that was almost certainly hitting the target.
    • 35' Danny Guthrie unnecessarily gives away a free-kick, and, in doing so, gives the visitors defence some respite. Hughton looks far from impressed.
    • 33' Chance! But, having ghosted in at the back post, Dexter Blackstock gets his timings all wrong and volleys wide of the target. Best chance thus far for the Reds.
    • 31' Routledge goes on another mazy run but ultimately he runs out of pitch when he really should have looked to have found a colleague earlier.
    • 29' All Newcastle now.
    • 28' Enrique takes aim from distance but his effort is charged down for a corner. He really got behind that one.The corner falls to Routledge, who beats a man on the edge of the area before seeing his effort blocked for a corner.
    • 26' Real end to end stuff here.
    • 25' Forest break to win a corner but waste it with a poor delivery.
    • 24' Guthrie picks the ball up in the middle of the park before breaking forward and firing goalwards but his effort is wide.
    • 22' How did Newcastle not score there? Lovenkrands exchanges passes with Routledge but is denied a clear cut opportunity by a timely James Perch challenge. The break of the ball falls to Carroll, but he elects to come back on himself rather than shoot and the chance is gone.
    • 19' Carroll is down injured following an aerial challenge and the physio is on, but the robust forward looks to be ok.
    • 17' But Forest break with Majewski, who goes down under the challenge of Simpson. Wiley waves away the muted penalty claims of the Poles' team-mates.
    • 15' Newcastle, having weathered an early Forest storm, are beginning to impose themselves on this one.
    • 14' Guthire wins a 50-50 in the middle of the pitch, drives forward and finds Routledge but the former Tottenham man's cross fails to get past the first man.
    • 13' Newcastle fail to capitalise from the resulting corner.
    • 12' What an effort. Routledge clips a great ball to the back post for Carroll, who does well to stretch and volley left-footed on target. Camp stays big to turn the effort around the post.
    • 10' Forest string together the first decent passage of play before Coloccini intervenes. He finds international colleague Gutierrez, who attempts an exchange of passes with Carroll, but the big front man's touch lets him down and the chance has gone.
    • 8' Camp easily claims a rather straight free-kick from Guthrie. His launch finds its way straight to opposite number Harper. The weather's not helping but there has been a real lack of quality thus far.
    • 6' Forest have an early opportunity to put some pressure on the Magpies' defence but the delivery by Majewski from the set-piece is easily cleared.
    • 4' Forest - fully aware of their hosts' imperious home form - have started with an incredible tempo, but will struggle to keep it up for the whole match.
    • 3' Forest break with Perch but Enrique recovers well to clear. Frantic start.
    • 2' Carroll draws a foul from the visiting defence that Simpson plays short to Guthrie, who finds Gutierrez. The Argentine international gets the ball caught under his feet and Forest clear.
    • 1' Referee Alan Wiley gets this one underway. The hosts - roared on by a wet yet boisterous home following - make much of the early running.
    • - Looking like a bitterly cold night up in Newcastle. Despite that, tonight's attendance is expected to be in the region of 50,000 - the biggest ever for a Championship game.
    • - Moments from kick-off at St James' or sportsdirect.com @ St James' Park to give it its full name.
    • - If they win tonight and stretch their unbeaten run to ten, the home side's return to the Big Time will almost be in touching distance. Chris Hughton's men are still unbeaten at home this season and victory tonight will put them four points clear of West Brom with a game in hand.
    • - Forest - third in the league - have been fantastic at home of late, but are on a horrendous run away from home, where they have lost six on the bounce. If they want to close the nine point gap on second placed West Brom, that form will have to improve and there's nowhere better to start than at the league leaders.
