  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Hull City
    • Brighton and Hove Albion
    • - Both teams had chances to score, but poor finishing means neither side come out on top. It's a sixth successive clean sheet for the Tigers. You can continue the post-match chat via Twitter, here: @rich_newman
    • 90+2' That's it, all over at the KC Stadium.
    • 90+2' Hull attack and McLean gets on the end of a cross from Rosenior. The big striker tries an overhead kick but it doesn't hit the target.
    • 90+2' Buckley gets to the by-line and pulls the ball back towards Mackail-Smith but it's cleared away by Hull.
    • 90+2' Assulin, who has looked very impressive since coming on, attacks down the left but is tackled by Rosenior who plays a long ball towards Stewart which is cut out.
    • 90+1' Bridcutt looks for Buckley in the box, and it's a promising attack but it's cleared by the Hull defence.
    • 90' Bridcutt plays the free kick in and the ball eventually falls for Mackail-Smith but it's a rush of blood to the head for the striker as he lashes at a shot high and wide.
    • 89' Barnes is fouled and it's a free kick in the corner area for Brighton at the end of this half.
    • 88' Another promising attack breaks down for Hull, as the ball is played from touchline to touchline. Perhaps both sides are happy with the draw now.
    • 87' Koren turns on the edge of the area and gets past Greer, he takes a left-footed shot which goes out for the corner. Once again though, it comes to nothing.
    • 86' Assulin is taken down and Brighton take a quick free kick. Mackail-Smith heads in but the referee pulls play back, as the set piece wasn't taken in the right place. Poyet is livid.
    • 85' Buckley has scored plenty of last minute goals for Brighton this season. Can he do it again!?
    • 84' Stewart, who really should have scored this evening, can't get the better of Jara and it's cleared by Brighton. Really scrappy now.
    • 83' Indecisive play from Brighton as Buckley has the chance to attack down the wing, but he plays the ball back instead and the attack breaks down.
    • 82' Lovely looking through ball played into the Brighton box by Hull but it's held up in the mud! Proof of the pitch becoming far too heavy, and it's cleared by El-Abd.
    • 82' McLean plays a low cross into the penalty area, the ball ricochets in the box but it's cleared by Greer.
    • 81' 17,769 is the attendance at the KC Stadium this evening.
    • 80' Just over 10 minutes left in this match, both sides want a win to increase their play-off chances.
    • 79' Assulin looks bright already, a neat bit of skill to win a free kick. It's a good delivery from Bridcutt which is headed over by Greer.
    • 78' Former Barcelona trainee and Manchester City loanee Assulin comes on for his Brighton debut. He replaces his City team-mate Razak.
    • 77' McLean, just 6 yards out, turns and shoots but it's clipped the top of the crossbar. Big chance for Hull.
    • 77' Koren takes the corner but it's a poor delivery. Stewart lofts the ball back into the area but again it's cleared.
    • 76' Hull stroking the ball around nicely and it's all the home side now. Corner for the Tigers.
    • 75' Brighton have not looked as threatening in this second half. McLean has brought a certain spark to Hull since coming on.
    • 74' Buckley's first opportunity to get down the wing, he turns his man but the touch is too heavy and it's out for a Hull goal kick.
    • 73' Koren hits a right foot shot from outside the penalty area but it's high and wide. Hull in the ascendancy.
    • 72' Brighton struggling with McLean's power.
    • 71' Nearly another Brighton own goal! Heart in mouth moment for Albion fans as the shot from McLean is goal bound, Greer doesn't know where the ball is but it's just turned round for a corner. The Hull substitute has looked very bright.
    • 70' Mclean flicks on a cross and it falls to Chester but the ball is too high for him to hit it, as it hits his chest.
    • 69' Gone a little quiet at the KC Stadium, where there's not been quite as much spark in the second half.
    • 68' Where is this game going? Send your thoughts my way via Twitter: @rich_newman
    • 67' Buckley has been in good form for Brighton lately, and perhaps only missed out after suffering a slight knock in the game against Liverpool on Sunday.
    • 66' First substitution of the evening for Brighton as Buckley replaces LuaLua. For Hull, Cairney comes on for Evans.
    • 66' McLean is fouled by Mattock. Dawson swings in the free kick into the box, the ball bounces around and it eventually falls to Stewart 10 yards out and he hits it wide. It was an awkward one.
    • 65' Dawson is up and running again, and Mannone restarts play.
    • 64' Bridcutt and Dawson go up for a header and the Hull man comes off worse and is flat out on the field. The medical staff are going to have a look at the defender.
    • 63' Substitution for Hull: Brady makes way for McLean.
    • 62' Jara caught late by Dawson, and he's booked. Quite a nasty looking high tackle.
    • 61' Brighton overplay the ball when they had the option to shoot, and Hull couner attack through Koren and Stewart. Eventually, the shot goes wide.
    • 60' Mackail-Smith has been bright this evening but looks isolated up front.
    • 59' Rosenior attacks down the right side, plays it into Koren who passes wide to Stewart. The ball comes in for Fryatt but it's over the striker.
    • 58' Powerful run from Mackail-Smith, he takes it past several players and attempts to play the ball back to Barnes, but it's behind his striker partner.
    • 57' Fryatt spins inside Navarro, and just when he's about to take the shot Bridcutt takes the ball off of him and it's cleared away.
    • 57' We haven't quite hit the heights of the first half, which was full of entertainment. Both managers will start looking their bench soon.
    • 56' Hull rush what looked like a promising looking attack and the ball is cleared by Brighton.
    • 55' Nothing comes of the corner for Brighton.
    • 54' Cross-shot from Mackail-Smith which nearly catches Mannone out, the ball goes out for a Brighton corner.
    • 53' Lots of crosses being pumped into both boxes, but there isn't much of an aerial threat for either side in the area.
    • 52' Stewart looks to make up for his early poor finishing as he gets the better of Jara down the left side. Hull don't make the most of their possession but they certainly look like they could threaten Albion again in this second half.
    • 51' Mackail-Smith gets on the end of a long ball again but can't create anything with his back to goal. The Scotland international will be hoping for more balls to feet to make more of his chances.
    • 50' Fryatt should really shoot early as the ball comes into him inside the Brighton area, but he takes an extra touch and then tries to chip the goalkeeper. All goes wrong, and Brezovan is a bit of a giant in the Albion goal.
    • 49' Brighton will be hoping LuaLua can threaten more in this second half, and he's just got down the left side past Rosenior, but his cross is claimed by Mannone.
    • 48' Stewart plays a low ball into the box from the left-side, it's a dangerous cross but it's hacked away by Brighton captain Greer.
    • 47' Hull have started brightly.
    • 47' Brighton’s on-loan midfielder Razak has shown some impressive touches and has picked some clever passes so far. Could be a crucial player for the Seagulls in this second half.
    • 46' We're underway in the second half.
    • - Quite an eventful first half, with both sides having very decent chances to go ahead. The quality of finishing has been poor though. Send your half-time comments my way, via Twitter
    • 45+1' Hull have a corner at the end of this first half after a good run by Dawson. Koren plays it short to Stewart who plays a ball into the box that hits the first man. With that, the referee blows his whistle for the end of the first half.
    • 45' Rosenior plays the ball into the area but it's over Koren. The ball eventually falls to Dawson who plays a long ball into the box, but it's cleared away.
    • 44' It's been a very tight first half, with both sides evenly matched.
    • 43' Brighton's short passing style is being hindered by the state of the pitch, which is also used for rugby. Lots of long balls being played up to Mackail-Smith.
    • 42' The best chances of the match so far have fallen to Stewart, who may feel he could have put Hull ahead.
    • 41' Stewart takes a right footed shot from the edge of the box, it's a powerful effort which hits the crossbar! So close for Hull.
    • 40' Razak has shown some spark for Albion this evening, some real moments of Premier League class from the Manchester City loanee.
    • 39' Lovely skill from Razak. The Congolese midfielder goes past several players and tries a curling shot which is tipped over by Mannone. The corner comes to Mattock who hits an air shot from 6 yards out.
    • 38' Stewart looked indecisive, had too long to think about the shot.
    • 37' Long ball over the top for Hull, Stewart is one-on-one wth Brezovan. The big Slovakian stands up tall and blocks the shot, and Stewart can't get the rebound on target. Best chance of the match.
    • 36' Fryatt inside the penalty area after being played inside from Koren, he pokes the ball across goal and it's tipped away by Brezovan for a Tigers corner.
    • 35' Ironic cheers from the Hull fans after referee Berry awards a free kick to them. They clearly feel decisions are not going their way.
    • 34' Fryatt with a volley on the turn after the ball comes into the box from the right hand side, it's straight at Brezovan.
    • 33' Clean strike from Bridcutt from just outside the box and the ball is fumbled by Mannone. He gathers it.
    • 33' Koren appears to be a player the Hull fans get a little frustrated with. A very talented player - but sometimes overplays it.
    • 32' Razak seems like he's settling well into the Brighton midfield.
    • 31' No goals yet. It's been a game full of pace, without many clear cut chances.
    • 30' Stewart swings in a low ball into the Brighton area. Koren thinks he's been impeded by Mattock and goes down in the area, but nothing is given. Would have been a soft penalty.
    • 28' Ball whipped into the penalty area by Jara but the ball is claimed by Mannone.
    • 27' Brighton look incredibly dangerous on the break. Hull are struggling to deal with the pace of Mackail-Smith and LuaLua.
    • 27' More Championship news: Cardiff manager Malky Mackay has signed a contract extension until 2016.
    • 26' Brady plays in Fryatt who cuts in field and into the edge of the Brighton box. It's a promising move but El-Abd clears it. Mackail-Smith is on the end of it once again, but the chance comes to nothing.
    • 25' The pitch is cutting up a little at the KC Stadium. The ball is bobbling around and it's not suiting the Seagulls' style.
    • 24' Neither side can get a grip on the game, but Brighton have looked bright in the last 5 minutes.
    • 23' Barnes intercepts a poor back-pass, beat Mannone to it and takes it past the goalkeeper. His first touch is poor though, and he takes it too wide and fires the ball high over the crossbar from a very tight angle.
    • 23' Koren is at the centre of all attacks for Hull, and he looks bright tonight.
    • 22' Barnes does well on the right hand side and there's a chance for Mackail-Smith but the ball is hacked away by Hobbs.
    • 21' Mackail-Smith, again full of running, gets on the end of a ball that he shouldn't be entitled to. He switches the ball on to his right foot and hits a snap shot straight at Mannone.
    • 20' A Brighton attack breaks down and Koren brings the ball forward, tries a shot from 20-yards out and it's gone high and wide. It was 3 on 3.
    • 19' Mackail-Smith tries an overhead kick himself - but that went very wrong. Ball back with Hull.
    • 19' Brighton manager Poyet has been shortlisted for ‘Outstanding Managerial Achievement’ at the Football League Awards this morning. Albion’s Lewis Dunk is up for nPower Football League Young Player of the Year as well. The young defender isn't playing tonight.
    • 18' Koren takes a corner which falls to Brady, the young Irishman tries an acrobatic overhead kick which is hit straight at Brezovan.
    • 17' Hull take a free kick which is floated into the Brighton box but it's headed away by El-Abd.
    • 16' Worth noting LuaLua has scored from free kicks in his last two matches for Albion.
    • 15' The free kick is hit by LuaLua, who can't repeat his thunderbolt strike from Sunday's game at Liverpool. The winger can't connect with the set piece as he wanted to, and it's gone wide.
    • 14' Mackail-Smith chases what looks like a lost cause. Hobbs can't keep up with him and he's conceded a free kick on the edge of his own area.
    • 13' It's a little quiet at the KC Stadium, though there's not much going on right now to excite the fans.
    • 12' High ball played into the Brighton box by Rosenior which is cleared by Greer. The Tigers' right back has looked dangerous down that touchline.
    • 11' Bridcutt, so unlucky on Sunday when he conceded two own goals, saved his side with the goalline clearance. Could that be crucial?
    • 10' Brighton have given the ball away a little too much in the opening 10 minutes. Razak is trying to settle in at his new club.
    • 9' Hull have looked the better side in the early stages.
    • 8' LuaLua takes a shot from well outside the box, but it's straight at Mannone in the Hull goal.
    • 8' Brighton give the ball away to Fryatt who plays the ball to Koren. Brady takes a shot from the edge of the area which is well saved by Brezovan.
    • 7' Fryatt twists and turns and gets the ball into the box. Koren goes up for the header, it goes over him and falls to Stewart who takes the shot. Brezovan is in no mans land and Bridcutt is there to clear the shot off the line. Perhaps the Tigers really should have taken the lead there.
    • 6' Brezovan tries to be a little too clever in playing the to Jara Reyes, and he gets lucky as the ball goes out for a throw. The Seagulls goalkeeper had an awkward game against Liverpool at the weekend.
    • 5' LuaLua's first chance to attack down the wing, beats Rosenior and puts in a decent ball that Mackail-Smith can't quite get on the end of.
    • 4' Both sides are getting a feel for each other, as possession changes hands several times. Fryatt looks fine now.
    • 3' Fryatt has gone down injured outside the Brighton box. We’ll have a slight gap in play.
    • 2' This could be a tight match this evening. Hull begin in 7th, with Brighton 8th.
    • 1' Hull kick off and we’re underway in Hull.
    • 19:44 The teams are out at the KC Stadium.
    • 19:43 There’s plenty of football tonight, Champions League and SPL action. Manchester City have thrashed Porto 4-0 already this evening to progress to the last-16 of the Europa League. Read about that here: Europa League - City thrash Porto to advance
    • 19:40 Hull fans, are you surprised by how well Nick Barmby has settled into management? Leave your comments at the bottom of this page or via Twitter
    • 19:35 So is Poyet going to Wolves? Rumours are the Premier League side would have to cough up £2million for him. It doesn’t seem clear who their first choice is.
    • 19:32 Our referee tonight is Carl Berry.
    • 19:30 Hull haven’t conceded in the league since the beginning of January. That’ll be a scary thought for Brighton’s Mackail-Smith, who hasn’t exactly been in prolific form recently.
    • 19:28 These two sides played out a 0-0 draw at the Amex earlier in the season.
    • 19:25 Brighton manager Gus Poyet has brought in five loan signings since January. The Seagulls boss insists it’s still too early to talk about promotion, but they could move up to seventh, one place outside the play-offs, with a win tonight.
    • 19:22 Abdul Razak makes his debut tonight for the Seagulls after signing from Manchester City on loan for the rest of the season. His City team-mate, Gai Assulin, starts on the bench.

    • 19:18 Hull’s five game run without a defeat has propelled them into promotion contention after an inconsistent first half of the season. Goals have been hard to come by for the Tigers, but they do boast the best defensive record in the Championship. They’ve kept a clean sheet 14 times, and conceded the least goals.
    • 19:15 Brighton are unbeaten in the league this year. After a difficult end to 2011, Gus Poyet’s side have been on an impressive run since the beginning January, which began with a 3-0 victory over Southampton at the Amex.
    • 19:13 TEAMS – Hull: Mannone, Rosenior, Dawson, Chester, Hobbs, McKenna, Evans, Stewart, Brady, Koren, Fryatt. Subs: Gulacsi, Dudgeon, Cairney, King, McLean. /// Brighton: Brezovan, Jara Reyes, Greer, El-Abd, Mattock, Bridcutt, Navarro, Razak, Barnes, LuaLua, Mackail-Smith. Subs: Ankergren, Calderon, Buckley, Vokes, Assulin.
    • 19:10 It’s not been a bad start to Nick Barmby’s management career at Hull. The Tigers find themselves sitting just outside the Championship’s playoff places. They could move up to sixth this evening if they win and gain a superior goal difference over Middlesbrough.
    • 19:05 Brighton were given a bit of seeing to by Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, and find themselves with the unfortunate record of being the only team to have scored three own goals in one match in the history of the competition. The scorer of those goals, Liam Bridcutt (2) and Lewis Dunk, will be hoping for a clean sheet tonight. FA Cup - Brighton self-destruct as Liverpool hit six
