    • 90' FULL TIME. West Ham beat Hull 2-1 but must settle for third place due to Southampton's win. A long and difficult campaign will only conclude after the play-offs for West Ham.
    • 87' West Ham fans are doing the conga but they will have to settle for third place and the play-offs with Southampton winning 4-0 at home to Coventry.
    • 85' Richard Garcia heads home brilliantly but he is ruled just offside. West Ham were exposed at the back.
    • 81' GOAL! West Ham 2-1 Hull! A comical goal to concede. Demel is guilty of a shocking header in his own box and Green mistimes his jump, allowing Evans to beat him to the ball and head home.
    • 68' Hull push forward and Corry Evans breaks through, only to be denied by a smart save from West Ham keeper Rob Green.
    • 53' West Ham denied a penalty! Vaz Te was brought to ground and should have been awarded a spot-kick. That could prove controversial if Coventry can get a draw and goal difference comes into play.
    • 51' So, if West Ham can score a couple more, and Coventry can pull it back to 2-2 against Southampton, then the Hammers will be going up. Easy.
    • 49' GOAL! West Ham 2-0 Hull! Lansbury picks out Cole with a delicious pass and the striker chests the ball down before converting on the volley.
    • 47' West Ham open the second half with a rather ambitious effort from Mark Noble from long range. It flies wide. No doubt Allardyce has told his side that if they are to get promoted, their best hope is a big win combined with Coventry somehow snatching a 2-2 draw at Southampton. West Ham need goals.
    • 45' HALF TIME. Barring a spectacular collapse, Southampton will be promoted today as they lead 2-0 at home to Coventry. West Ham are doing what they need to do, Carlton Cole's goal giving them a 1-0 lead over Hull.
    • 38' Vaz Te breaks free and beats the offside trap to accelerate towards goal but the West Ham striker makes a mess of his finish as he scuffs his shot rather dramatically.
    • 37' That West Ham goal will only have an impact if Coventry can score three times, or if Coventry can score twice and West Ham can bag another three. Both scenarios look rather unlikely.
    • 36' GOAL! West Ham 1-0 Hull! Finally the home side make the breakthrough. Taylor with the corner from the right and Carlton Cole leaps above his marker to head firmly down and watch his effort sneak past the man on the line.
    • 35' West Ham hit the bar! Another cross from the left causes havoc as this time Matt Taylor's delivery curls in and bounces off the top of the bar.
    • 34' A good save by Vito Mannone, on loan from Arsenal, as he keeps out a ferocious low cross from Nolan that threatens to sneak in at the near post.
    • 31' Hull threaten again, this time through Joshua King as he finds acres of space down the right. However, his square pass is cut out as West Ham clear.
    • 29' Matty Fryatt gets free on the right and tries a shot from the tightest of angles that flies past the far post after searing across the face of goal. Not a bad hit for Hull.
    • 27' Chance for West Ham! In a congested penalty box, Kevin Nolan hooks the ball into the path of Lansbury, who leans back when getting his volley away and slams the ball over the bar.
    • 26' Still no shot on target for West Ham at home to Hull. If they don't win today then they can have few complaints. They must at least do what is in their control, and if events at Coventry keep them in third then so be it.
    • 21' Just to reiterate, this means that if West Ham are to be promoted, they now need to score at home to Hull and hope Coventry can get three from somewhere. If Coventry can get it back to 2-2, then West Ham need to win by four.
    • 18' At Upton Park, the news filters through and a fair few West Ham fans look downcast. They can only pray that Coventry can come back from this.
    • 6' That was a fantastic chance for West Ham to get a head start on Southampton. Goals scored could come into play today so they need to bag a few.
    • 4' A huge change for West Ham! Henri Lansbury delivers a brilliant cross from the left and Ricardo Vaz Te is unmarked at the back post. However, after leaping into the air he commits a horrible miss when heading wide from close range!
    • 2' Bubbles are floating in the afternoon air at Upton Park and a Hull cross soars in from the right, requiring Guy Demel to head away for the Hammers.
    • 12:24 TEAMS: West Ham: Green, Demel, Reid, Tomkins, Taylor, O'Neil, Noble, Nolan, Lansbury, Cole, Vaz Te. Subs: McCartney, Baldock, Maynard, Collison, Faubert. /// Hull: Mannone, Rosenior, Chester, Cooper, Dawson, Cairney, McKenna, Evans, Garcia, Fryatt, King. Subs: Oxley, Stewart, Brady, Bradley, Cullen.
