    • 90+4' Silva in an attacking position but wisely opts to go back to de Jong and the possession game recommences.
    • 90+3' Chelsea corner and Cech is up for it! Pantilimon catches and Aguero is going to look for room to strike from halfway... no, Ramires checks him. Surely a second yellow? Benefit of the doubt. Surely he would have been booked if not already on one?
    • 90+2' Dzeko is played in but Terry preys on hesitation by the big forward to lunge in and prevent a shot.
    • 90+1' Four minutes of added time. Late drama?
    • 90' Sarcastic jeers from Chelsea fans as Aguero puts a sitter wide, but with time ticking away it's City who are defending their lead in attack.
    • 89' Silva cannot connect properly with a Milner cross from the right and Cech saves.
    • 88' Final switch for City will burn a little time. Tevez makes way for Edin Dzeko.
    • 87' Neat move on the counter by Chelsea but Torres' flick-on towards Sturridge on the right is overcooked. Goal kick.
    • 85' Now City are regaining the tempo a little, but Lampard is fouled before Tevez can strike at goal. His effort is stopped by Cech, anyway.
    • 84' Cech out near the halfway line with everyone else forward to head a City clearance to a team-mate.
    • 83' Torres is unable to get to an early cross in from the left. City have been shaken by that last goal and need to get back to their possession game or else risk an embarrassing scenario.
    • 82' Milner is unable to keep Zabaleta's pass down the right channel in play. Goal kick.
    • 80' Pantilimon spills Strurridge's 25-yard rocket and Bertrand is quick to pounce on the rebound. The keeper refuses to relinquish the ball afterwards, angering the goalscorer, and both are booked for heated words.
    • 79' GOAL! Hope for Chelsea! Bertrand of all people has made it 3-2!
    • 78' Free-kick Man City on the right-hand flank. Milner takes it short, gets it back, and tees up Kompany with a low centre. The centre-back's shot is blocked.
    • 77' Nasri's match is over. On comes David Silva. Handy replacement to have, I guess...
    • 75' Nasri nutmegs Luiz with a ball into the area towards Kolarov, but Cech is there first.
    • 74' Another change for Chelsea with Daniel Sturridge replacing Mata.
    • 73' City are continuing to retain possession, making good on the extra space available.
    • 71' Hazard now makes way for Chelsea, who take a more defensive approach replacing him with Ryan Bertrand.
    • 70' Good challenge by Zabaleta to snuff out an attempt to break away by Hazard.
    • 69' Chelsea's remaining nine outfield players are camped in their own half and this may turn into an exhibition.
    • 67' Terry needs two attempts to head the corner clear before the rebound is sliced off-target by Nasri.
    • 66' City straight back on the attack but 4-1 is denied by the back line at the last ditch and City have a corner.
    • 65' Tevez again involved as he sets Kolarov free on the left to drive in a cross which the Frenchman deftly guides in on the volley. It's open season on Chelsea.
    • 64' NASRI! 3-1!
    • 63' Ramires warms up the gloves of Pentilimon with a decent speculative drive from 30 yards.
    • 62' Now it's Tevez bossing the show in the Torres style, and he wins a free-kick off Ashley Cole who also enters the book.
    • 61' That was a birdie of a shot from the tempramental Argentine.
    • 60' Tevez isn't done. He weathers a Luiz shoulder charge to keep the ball and whip in a cross which forces another City corner.
    • 59' Tevez cuts inside one man, he stays horizontal to shake off another, and he unleashes a wicked curling finish from inside the 'D' which leaves Cech stuck on the spot. It's on its head now and Chelsea will struggle to get back into this now.
    • 58' TEVEZ! WHAT A GOAL! CITY LEAD!
    • 57' Torres continues to attempt the work of two men with his side one short and he wins another free-kick, this time in the centre circle, as he is forced off the ball unfairly by two City players.
    • 56' Nasri finds space by the left-hand byline and picks out Milner who from two yards out is certain to score if not for Cole's vital interception.
    • 55' Cole's diagonal loft pass is no sweat for Pantilimon.
    • 54' Yaya creates the move with a good through pass out to the right where Milner is in space to float in a cross which Terry can only half-clear at full stretch. Toure collects, takes a touch and hammers the equaliser low past Cech.
    • 53' GOAL! Yaya Toure levels from just outside the box! 1-1
    • 51' Kolarov whips a free-kick from the right beyond the far post.
    • 50' Feedback on the Ivanovic red courtesy of you Twitter-loving readers: Fraser Duncan (@Frasito89): "As a #CFC fan it was a red, but Savic foul on Torres just before should have been a 2nd yellow surely". Winnie Wilson (@winniewlsn): "so if thats a 3match ban for #iva, #chelsea delegates will now be busy booking international call to #marseille"
    • 49' Torres is feeling this match now. He almost gets through again but instead draws a foul from Kompany, which sees the skipper booked.
    • 48' Great play by Torres, who takes the ball from the halfway line down the middle and into the box where Kolarov's superb slide in saves the day at the expense of a corner. The flag kick is half-cleared to Lampard, who skies his rebound half-volley.
    • 47' It will surprise nobody to know that Gael Clichy has come on for the second half in place of the booked Savic.
    • 46' Chelsea get the second period underway.
    • - Was the red card fair? Can Chelsea hold on against the league champions a man down?
    • 45+3' Adding to Chelsea's frustrations toward Kevin Friend is the referee blowing for half-time as Lampard and Hazard look to conjure a late attack. Half-time and the blues lead by Torres' goal but are down to 10 courtesy of a two-footed tackle by Ivanovic.
    • 45+2' Dangerous in-swinging corner from Milner may have qualified as a shot on target, but for a shove on Cech which leads to a free-kick.
    • 45+1' Lampard booked for going recklessly in on Milner, who evades contact but a definite yellow.
    • 45' Three minutes added onto the first half.
    • 44' And if you swap Tevez for Milner, it's almost deja vu: inside curler parried by Cech, only this time down into the ground allowing him to keep hold.
    • 43' He goes in two-footed on Kolarov on the left wing and pays the price. City now have a free-kick near the left-hand corner of the box, similar to Tevez's early direct free-kick which Cech saved.
    • 42' RED CARD IVANOVIC!
    • 41' Savic appears to impede Torres as Chelsea seek a quick second, he's on a yellow! No, the referee rules it was Torres committing the foul. Free-kick City.
    • 40' GOAL! TORRES BREAKS THE DEADLOCK! Ramires skips inside his man and looks for a short square pass to Hazard just inside the box. The Belgian leaves it for Torres, who takes a touch and lifts it over the committed Pantilimon.
    • 38' So far Hazard has done okay, simulation aside.
    • 37' Cech almost spills a cross from the left but manages to get an additional paw to it to prevent Aguero spinning on it and firing into an empty net.
    • 35' Neat lobbed ball into the box by Ramires on the half-volley, but Pantilimon times his approach well to claim before Torres can get his head on it.
    • 34' Ashley Cole tries his luck from 20+ yards on the overlap. It's well off target.
    • 33' Hazard's failed heel flick from earlier has led to David Dunn trending on Twitter. Remember that?
    • 32' City break is stopped by a cynical challenge by Ramires on Nasri, which earns a mandatory yellow.
    • 31' Another corner for Chelsea now. Taken by Mata, headed away by Kolarov.
    • 30' Nasri with a cut-back from the right to Tevez in the box - blocked by Terry! Milner with the follow-up, again intercepted by JT.
    • 29' Better from Chelsea now, catching the City back line with a 3-on-3 which ends with Hazard cutting inside and seeing a decent effort held low by Pantilimon.
    • 28' It's floated backwards to Mikel, who for some reason tries a 30-yard and puts it well over.
    • 27' Chelsea win their first corner of the match, hoorah! 5-1 City in flag kicks.
    • 26' Aguero tees up Nasri for a delivery on the right, but Cole puts his fellow member of the Arsenal christmas card list under decent enough pressure for the attempt to sail out for a goal kick.
    • 25' Now Chelsea attack again and Ramires drives a low cross in from the right. Lampard mis-connects but still gets some decent force behind it, nonetheless Pantilimon has it covered.
    • 24' Good early ball from Milner on the right and Aguero times his run perfectly for the header! Across the face of goal! Only managed to get a glancer on it.
    • 23' Torres is unable to get onto a long ball forward from Luiz. You can tell by his body language it's not the service he really wants.
    • 21' Hazard again goes to ground, but this time because of a failed back heel attempt. The City fans chant "what a waste of money".
    • 20' Milner takes, Kompany with the back header towards goal but it's straight into Cech's waiting arms.
    • 19' Luiz beats Tevez to a through pass on the left-hand side of the area but slips in dealing with it, conceding City's fifth corner without reply.
    • 18' This one is nodded away from the far post but the league winners are starting to settle into control here.
    • 17' Good jaunt down the right by Milner but again Cole has him covered, deflecting the cross behind for another City corner.
    • 16' Nasri! Blocked Aguero effort falls his way at an angle but Cech comes out and blocks the toe poke. Corner is cleared but the breakaway is snuffed out.
    • 15' He shanks the cross after taking the throw and receiving the ball back, however, and Cech takes the goal kick.
    • 14' Milner draws a good challenge from Cole out on the right to earn an attacking throw.
    • 12' Free-kick Chelsea just outside the box but Mata drags the shot well wide of the far post.
    • 11' Advantage was given and play continues for over a minute before a stoppage allows a yellow card to be shown to the Montenegro defender.
    • 10' Savic clatters Hazard in a contrast of Eden's lighter trip to the grass five minutes ago.
    • 9' Again Kompany gets the better of Torres with a great slide in to prevent the Spaniard from surging into the box courtesy of compatriot Mata's ball inside.
    • 8' Flicked beyond the far post by Luiz, and another corner from the opposite side is coming up. Torres and Lampard are back for it and combine to clear the danger.
    • 7' The Brazilian centre-back heads out a Nasri cross for a corner, which the French forward will take.
    • 6' Definitely contact by Luiz on Aguero, however, and City take a free-kick inside the centre circle.
    • 5' Hazard's reputation for going to ground easily makes an appearance five minutes in. Boos aplenty for the Belgian who is warned by the referee.
    • 4' Plenty of empty seats here in Birmingham.
    • 3' Free-kick City near the left-hand corner of the box. It's a good direct hit from Tevez and the curling effort dips towards the near bottom corner where Cech parries.
    • 2' It takes three Chelsea defenders to deal with the threat of Nasri as he dribbles towards the penalty area. A blues break sees Torres fail to get past Kompany.
    • 1' City, wearing their red away strip, kick us off.
    • 13:30 The teams are on the Villa Park pitch. The anthem has been played. It's time to start the domestic season off proper!
