City are sitting back and taking stock of their certain defeat here. Plenty of food for thought for Manuel Pellegrini, mainly the performance of Fernando, who hasn't looked at all comfortable.

2 - This is only the 2nd time Man City have shipped 3 or more goals in any of their last 34 games (all comps). Shellshock.

Manchester City Substitution
74'

City sub: Richards on, Kolarov off.
71'
The third goal has extinguished City's hope, and the game has become a damage limitation exercise for them now.
Arsenal Substitution
68'
Arsenal subs: Flamini & Rosicky on, Wilshere & Cazorla off.

Zucilini gets a thumping welcome to the Premier League after a mid-air collision with Szeszcny. Both are receiving treatment but should be ok to continue.
64'
City's task now is surely to avoid losing by five or six. Arsenal are looking unstoppable today - and to think the World Cup winning trio of Ozil, Mertesacker and Podolski are yet to return...
62'
A penny for Joe Hart's thoughts?

Arsenal fans are now mocking Man City by doing a Poznan. Yeah. #afc #mcfc

60'

GOAL! Giroud makes it 3-0! Fantastic strike out of nothing by the Frenchman, who curls in from 25 yards. Absolute stunner and Arsenal are surely home and dry now.
Manchester City Substitution

58'
Kolarov races clear of Oxlade-Chamberlain to reach the byline but cannot keep the ball in as Szeszcny comes out to smother.
55'
Very good save by Szeszcny, who is down well to his right-hand side to save from Jovetic, whose decent effort from 15 yards stays out. Best moment of the game for Szeszcny.
53'
Nastasic clears for a corner as Arsenal maintain the pressure, but Kompany heads clear the dead ball from Alexis.
52'
Jovetic hits the post! The striker leaps high to head the ball against the outside of the left hand post - that's the closest City have come to scoring today.

Fernando, first caution in English football. Not exactly a surprise.

50'
Yellow card for Fernando, who shamelessly tugs back Wilshere. Clear yellow for the new City midfielder, who's not had the greatest competitive debut for the champions.
49'
Just a few minutes into the second half and it's already clear that Silva's introduction will be a big positive for City. The Spaniard is already seeing plenty of the ball in central areas for City.

HT Arsenal 2-0 Manchester City. A richly deserved lead for the Gunners, who have been head and shoulders above the Premier League champions. One way traffic at Wembley.
44'
Arsenal could be 3-0 up! Alexis bursts clear on the break but delays his pass and possession is eventually lost.

This time next year Ramsey will be preparing for his Barcelona debut.

42'

GOAL! Ramsey makes it 2-0 to Arsenal! Sanogo's run takes out two City defenders before feeding the Welshman, whose first touch creates the space to drill into the bottom corner. Arsenal cruising!
41'
Chance for City as Dzeko cuts the ball back towards Jovetic but the ball just fails to reach him.
40'
A big cheer goes up for vanishing spray, which is used by referee Michael Oliver for the first time in English football. It's being used to keep the Arsenal wall back.
39'
Nasri could have scored in front of the Arsenal fans, but Kolarov's pass to the Frenchman is deflected away to safety for the Gunners.
37'
Jovetic tees up Yaya Toure, but the pass is just behind the Ivorian and he cannot get a shot away. Promising move by the champs.
36'
Arsenal very good value for their lead here. City seeing more of the ball now than they have all half but Koscielny and the young Calum Chambers are looking very comfortable. You'd have to say City's best chance at the moment is from a set piece.
34'
City go forward through Navas, but he overhits his cross and it goes out for a goal kick - that pretty much sums up the half for City so far.
32'
Cazorla has taken a blow after an aerial challenge with Clichy. Looks like the former Arsenal man stepped on his foot.
30'
The resulting corner from Cazorla is a wicked outswinger that reaches Sanogo, but his header lacks power and Caballero plucks it from the sky.
28'
Cazorla follows up but his shot is blocked by Clichy for a corner.
26'
Sanchez instigates another blistering Arsenal counter-attack but he can't quite squeeze the ball through to Wilshere. City just cannot handle these Arsenal breaks.

Can't understand why #mcfc play Toure this deep when he's so devastating further forward. #afc

24'
Pellegrini is on the touchline and looks utterly perplexed with what he's seeing. City just aren't at the races.

Arsenal have won their four of their last five games v City after opening the scoring.

22'
Almost 2-0 to Arsenal! Sanogo misses the target after Cazorla slipped in a perfectly-weighted pass through the City back line and the young striker should really have scored.
21'
It's a completely deserved opener for the Gunners, who have been far better than City. The referee played a good advantage in the build up, allowing play to go on after Wilshere was fouled on the edge. Cazorla collected the ball and did the rest.
20'

GOAL! Cazorla makes it 1-0 to Arsenal! The little Spaniard finishes neatly into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to give the Gunners a deserved lead.
19'
Dzeko has just gone off to tie his boots. City down to ten men for a few moments.
18'
It wouldn't be unfair on City to say it's been all Arsenal so far. The Premier League champions have been distinctly second best.
17'
Opening for Arsenal as Gibbs picks Clichy's pocket and drives forward but Gibbs sees his effort blocked well.
15'
Gibbs is late on Clichy. The pair clatter into each other at pace and the Frenchman comes off worse - Gibbs could have seen yellow for that.

Those Arsenal shirts simply cannot be comfortable to wear. They look like they've been vacuum-packed on.

13'
Navas enjoying his first meaningful touches of the game. He finds Nasri, whose shot is blocked well. First positive moment for City here.
11'
Cazorla whips in a corner for Arsenal but it's firmly headed away towards the halfway line and reaches Jovetic.
10'
Frank Lampard in the crowd for today's game, but lacking the match fitness to be considered for today's game.
8'
This is a really good spell by Arsenal but it's still 0-0. Arsenal are frustrating City, who look a little rigid and unable to handle the Gunners runs from midfield. Fernando, in particular, looks a little lost.
7'
First chance! Debuchy whips in a devilish cross from the right but City scramble it away ahead of Sanogo.
6'
Chambers has enjoyed a few encouraging touches early on. Big day for the young £16m defender.
5'
Nasri trots across to take a corner in front of the Arsenal fans - as is obvious by all the boos and jeers.
4'
Ramsey drives into the box but stumbles at the vital moment. He manages to keep the move alive but City eventually hack it away. Arsenal have started the brighter here.
3'
Sanchez gets his first touch and drives forward before laying it off to Wilshere, but the ball just skips away from the England midfielder.
2'
First free kick conceded by new City signing Fernando, who brings down Wilshere.

Right then, who will win the Community Shield and take the first silverware (sort of) of the season? Well, David Moyes certainly counts it as a major trophy...

City win the tracksuit war at Wembley. Those are some fine "anthem jackets"

After Embrace, the weird sort-of-Game-of-Thronish ominous piece which now precedes every Wembley, er, showpiece.

14:45
Samir Nasri not a popular figure of course. And he had something to say about Arsenal fans today: "The abuse doesn't affect me on the pitch, I just think it's stupid," Nasri told several national newspapers. "I'm not an Arsenal fan, I am not from London. If we want to be honest, we are players who look at what is in the best interests for us and our career.

Huge boos from Arsenal end for Nasri, natch. City fans tried to cheer even louder in reply. It didn't work. #afc #mcfc

14:35
Manuel Pellegrini on the furore surrounding City's capture of Frank Lampard: "I think as managers we have enough problems with our own teams to be talking about other teams. The only thing I can say is that we have important restrictions about the amount of money we can spend, and Frank Lampard was a free player - we didn't spend any money in bringing him from New York City to Manchester City. I don't understand the reaction of Chelsea fans who say he is a traitor."
14:30
Arsene Wenger: "We are less vulnerable now, that is for sure. In the last two years we bought Ozil and Sanchez - five years ago we would have lost Ozil and Sanchez. We have more money available to buy today than we had five years ago. We can compete better. For years we have lost top players without the ability to replace them because of financial management. It is tiring to lose players - whether it be to Man City or somewhere else - it is the same."

Absolutely torrential rain pouring from the sky at Wembley. Referees' warm-up halted. #CommunityShield kick-off in 40mins.

Roy Hodgson at Wembley for the Community Shield. Three English players starting.

14:25
TEAMS: Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Chambers, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Wilshere; Ramsey, Alexis, Cazorla; Sanogo. Subs: Martinez, Monreal, Flamini, Campbell, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud. /// Man City : Caballero, Clichy, Boyata, Nastasic, Kolarov, Navas, Fernando, Toure, Nasri, Jovetic, Dzeko. Subs: Hart, Richards, Rekik, Milner, Sinclair, Silva, Zuculini.
14:20
Two big pieces of team news here at Wembley: Alexis Sanchez, the biggest Premier League signing of the season, starts for Arsenal, while Joe Hart is dropped for Willy Caballero for City. A big statement by Manuel Pellegrini before the start of the season?
