    • 19.50 Neymar has been Brazil's shining light at this tournament. The new Barcelona striker's two wonder goals have helped reiterate why he is his country's great hope ahead of the World Cup next year - but Brazil's technical director Carlos Alberto Parreira has made a point of playing down the pressure on the ex-Santos man. "Nobody here puts the responsibility to decide Brazil matches on Neymar," said Parreira. "Maybe in Santos it happened, but here we will not be Neymar dependent."

    • 19.35 Tonight's maths... Both sides have qualified for the semi-finals with six points from two matches, so this is a showdown for first position. A draw would be good enough for Brazil to top Group A as they have a superior goal difference. Italy must win to knock Scolari's side into second. There's a big incentive for the Azzurri too. If they can secure a victory they would avoid facing the Group B winners in the semi-final. Few would bet against that being an irrepressible Spain side.

    • 19.32 Meanwhile, Luiz Felipe Scolari insists Brazil will go all out for a victory despite only needing a draw to top Group A. Scolari told reporters: "We are going to play to win, we may go for a draw during the game but we are not going to set out playing for a draw."
    • 19.30 With playmaker Andrea Pirlo out of the contest with a muscle injury and Daniele De Rossi suspended (two yellow cards), Prandelli is wary of the Samba Boys' threat. He told his pre-match press conference: "Brazil have personality, strength, a strong defence and four extraordinary forwards. But their main feature is when it comes down to one on ones. There are four players who can always invent a new play at any time. I'm expecting a difficult match."
    • 19.25 Brazil make one change from the 2-0 win over Mexico with Hernanes replacing Paulinho in the midfield. As for Italy, Cesare Prandelli has made some major adjustments to the side that saw off Japan in a seven-goal thriller. Antonio Candreva, Claudio Marchisio, Leonardo Bonucci, Iganzio Abate and Alessandro Diamanti all come into the starting XI.

  1. Take nothing away from Neymars sensational free kick but he definitely looking for the foul - you could see he planted his foot behind the defenders leg

From Paul, on Tue 25 Jun 11:10
  2. There's really nothing to this Brazillian outfit but cheating & the referees should stop falling for Neymar's diving tactics - this is how they won this game. I don't think Neymar is worthy of the "no 10" jersey cause he's the only weakling who's more on the floor than producing the spectacles he became known for back in domestic Brazillian league. Mark my words, he won't last in Europe. At least 3 of their 4 goals should not have been or has some ? to it. The first & the last should have been ruled off-side goals. The 2nd came as a result of Neymar's cheating. The only beautiful moment of the Brazillian effort for me was the cross from Marcelo to Fred that he converted into a goal. Italy played more beautiful football but history has shown that they are always hard done by dubious refereeing. Who knows Italy might end up in the finals against Uruguay or Nigeria.

From Anthony Moos, on Sat 22 Jun 23:33
  3. I have never seen so many players throwing themselves onto the pitch at the slightest challenge. Both Brazilians and Italians did it. Neymar did it and won a free kick and a goal. This kind of cheating is football's cancer.

  6. Eurosport is a biased P.O chit. 2 brazilian goals are offside and the neymar goal came from a no foul play. Plus Italy free kick shot broke a brasilian hand and the referee was so blind. shame shame

  7. Brazil will be happy, but looking at the replays of the goals, with marginal offside decisions, nothing to boast about really,

  11. Referee has dropped a bomb! He blew his whistle and pointed to the penalty spot before the ball crossed the line. The goal should not have counted.... FIFA's assessor will take a dim view of such a basic error...
