    • 90+4' Metin steps up... and thumps the ball well over the crossbar. And the final whistle goes! Germany are in the final after a truly extraordinary finale here in Basel. Turkey, the comeback kings, have been undone by just the kind of comeback in which they've specialised in this tournament, but they can go home with their heads held high after a commendable performance tonight.
    • 90+3' Ballack concedes a free-kick for a foul on Metin right on the edge of the German penalty area!
    • 90+1' Changes for both sides. Tumer Metin replaces Colin Kazim-Richards for Turkey, while German goalscorer Miroslav Klose makes way for Marcell Jansen.
    • 90' GOAL! 3-2 Germany! UNBELIEVABLE! Philipp Lahm picks up a pass into the Turkish box before coolly bending the ball past Rustu into the top-left corner! Sensational goal from the German left-back. Surely Turkey are beaten now!
    • 89' Semih puts a shot wide of the right-hand post from distance!
    • 88' Two minutes remain. Can either side find a winner? These Turkish players simply do not know when they're beaten.
    • 86' GOAL! 2-2! Sabri beats his man on the right and plays in a low cross that Semih sneaks past Lehmann at the near post! Incredible stuff! Semih's done it again!
    • 85' Another change for Turkey. Gokdeniz Karadeniz comes on for Ugur Boral.
    • 84' Podolski gets in behind the Turkish defence and drives in a low cross that Rustu pounces on!
    • 82' Turkey make their first substitution, with striker Mevlut Erdinc coming on for Ayhan Akman. Is another dramatic Turkish comeback on the cards?
    • 80' Turkey win a corner on the Turkey left. Altintop swings it in and Lehmann has to claw it away!
    • 79' GOAL! 2-1 Germany! Lahm crosses from the left, Rustu gets absolutely nowhere near it and Klose heads it home! From nowhere Germany lead!
    • 77' Klose puts a header wide of the Turkish goal, despite Ballack appearing to be in a good position for a knockdown.
    • 76' Germany are seeing a lot more of the ball now, but there is no movement from the forwards whatsoever.
    • 75' Fifteen minutes to go of normal time, and Germany still haven't turned up.
    • 74' Hitzlsperger looks for Podolski with a pass from the left but he mis-times it and Turkey clear.
    • 73' Ugur cuts inside Friedrich on the Turkey left before curling a shot straight into Lehmann's arms, before Hitzlsperger sends a fierce drive whistling inches wide of the left-hand post at the other end!
    • 72' The sky is darkening here in Basel, and it looks like we could be set for some rain.
    • 71' Kazim-Richards is penalised for a push on a defender as he advances towards the German box.
    • 70' Kazim-Richards goes down a bit weakly inside the German box after having his shirt tugged by Lahm, but the ref's not interested.
    • 69' The corner is headed away by Mertesacker. Sabri curls the ball back in from the right, and Schweinsteiger clears.
    • 68' Ugur wins a corner off Friedrich on the Turkey left.
    • 67' Sabri skins Lahm on the Turkey right but can't pick out a team-mate with his cross.
    • 66' Germany have been a shadow of the side that beat Portugal. There's no enterprise to their play, no zip to their passing.
    • 65' Friedrich's attempted cross from the right is blocked at close range.
    • 64' Hitzlsperger's pass towards Lahm on the German left is overhit and flies out of play for a Turkish goal kick.
    • 62' Lots of pressure from Turkey now, and they're stringing the ball around nicely. Germany can't get hold of the ball!
    • 61' Sabri bursts into space on the right and cracks in a low shot that Lehmann does well to hold onto.
    • 60' Altintop steps up... and cracks the ball miles over the crossbar! Commendable ambition from the Bayern Munich man.
    • 59' Turkey win a free-kick about 45 yards from goal, but Altintop looks like he fancies it!
    • 58' Ballack curls the ball straight into the wall.
    • 57' Ballack wins a free-kick off Altintop about 25 yards from the Turkish goal.
    • 56' Metzelder goes down in a heap after Semih slides in on him, but replays show that there was no contact whatsoever. Disappointing behaviour from the Real Madrid man.
    • 55' Good football from Germany. Schweinsteiger finds Friedrich in space on the right, but his cross is cleared by Topal. And then Hitzlsperger cracks a rising left-footer just over the bar from the edge of the box!
    • 53' Semih goes into the book for sliding in from behind on Frings.
    • 52' Loew came sprinting towards the touchline in protest then, and the replays will not make pleasant viewing for the referee.
    • 51' PENALTY SHOUT FOR GERMANY! Lahm gets absolutely poleaxed by Sabri on the edge of the Turkey box, but referee Busacca gives nothing! A poor decision from the Swiss official. The German bench is livid.
    • 50' Ugur's curling free-kick is easily claimed by Lehmann. Ugur then jinks towards the edge of the German box from the left, but Friedrich produces an important interception.
    • 49' Lahm is penalised for a foul midway inside the German half.
    • 48' Turkey knock the ball around at the back. You could see their self-assurance growing in the first half.
    • 47' Podolski motors away down the German left but clips his cross out of play for a Turkey goal kick. Great acceleration from the Bayern Munich man.
    • 46' Germany make a change at half-time, with Frings now coming on for Rolfes. Turkey kick things off in the second half.
    • 45+1' The half-time whistle goes. 1-1 the score at the break, but it has been all Turkey and Germany can count themselves lucky to be on even terms.
    • 45' There will be one minute of injury time.
    • 44' Looks like Loew has seen quite enough of this, and he's about to send on Torsten Frings, despite the fact he has a fractured rib. But then Rolfes comes back on, heavily bandaged, so Frings has to put his bib back on and sit down!
    • 43' Hitzlsperger concedes a free-kick for a foul in midfield.
    • 41' Altintop looks to latch onto a pass into the German area but Friedrich intervenes just in time! And then Sabri Sarioglu cracks a right-footer just over the crossbar from the edge of the box!
    • 40' Ouch! Big clash of heads between Simon Rolfes and Ayhan right on the touchline on the near side. The physios come on to patch both players up.
    • 38' Topal whips the free-kick goalwards with his left foot and Lehmann firmly punches it away!
    • 37' Kazim-Richards wins a free-kick off Lahm just outside the German area on the Turkey right.
    • 35' Kazim-Richards puts a right-wing cross over the German bar.

    • 29' Hitzlsperger's inswinging free-kick is headed away at the near post.
    • 28' Schweinsteiger wins a free-kick off Ayhan on the German right.
    • 26' GOAL! 1-1! Podolski gets away down the German left before putting in a low cross that Schweinsteiger deftly flicks past Rustu with the outside of his right foot! Moments earlier, Aurelio had flashed a header across goal from a corner on the Turkey right. Turkey were ahead for just four minutes!
    • 25' Semih has a shot from the edge of the German box deflected behind for a corner by Metzelder.
    • 24' What a turn-up here at St Jakob-Park. It's a shock scoreline, but thoroughly deserved. Lehmann might have done better as well. Ugur's shot was straight at him but he was already falling backwards and couldn't prevent the ball crossing the line.
    • 22' GOAL! 1-0 Turkey! A cross from the right is half-volleyed against the crossbar by Kazim-Richards, and Ugur volleys the rebound through Lehmann's legs from six yards!
    • 21' Kazim-Richards is well tackled by Lahm on the Turkey right.
    • 20' Friedrich looks for Klose over the top but Gokhan gets back to clear.
    • 19' Podolski's pass towards Klose down the German left is overhit and runs out for a goal kick.
    • 18' Rustu punches the resulting corner from the German left clear.
    • 17' Hitzlsperger curls the ball into the box with his left foot but it's a comfortable save for Rustu. Schweinsteiger then breaks forward down the German inside-right channel before throwing himself to the ground on the edge of the box, but the ref's not interested. And then Topal reacts sharply to hoof the ball off Ballack's toes inside the Turkish area.
    • 16' Ugur concedes a free-kick for a strong challenge on Klose on the Germany right. Turkey have made a great start here though.
    • 15' Ballack heads the corner clear but Turkey are quickly back on the attack, with Simon Rolfes having to jab the ball away from the advancing Akman inside the German box.
    • 14' Schweinsteiger rather hesitantly concedes a corner on the German right.
    • 13' TURKEY HIT THE CROSSBAR! Ayhan Akman cuts the ball back from the right and Kazim-Richards cracks a right-footed effort against the bar from 15 yards!
    • 12' Ugur gets away from Arne Friedrich down the left and swings in a cross that's headed clear.
    • 11' Ballack plays a rather aimless ball down the German right that Mehmet Topal mops up. It's been a sluggish start from Joachim Loew's men.
    • 10' Lahm cuts out a pass intended for Kazim-Richards on the Turkey right.
    • 9' That was a bit of a scare for Germany. It was an uncharacteristic lapse in concentration from Lahm, who has had an excellent tournament so far.
    • 8' Chance for Turkey! Hamit Altintop pounces on a mistake by Lahm on the Turkish right and Lehmann has to save with his feet!
    • 7' Mehmet Aurelio is penalised for a foul on Ballack in midfield. And then Kazim-Richards advances into space in the Turkey inside-right channel before thumping a shot straight at Lehmann from about 25 yards out.
    • 6' Kazim-Richards/Kazim plays a cross to the back post from the Turkey right, and Schweinsteiger heads it away.
    • 5' Ugur Boral gets away down the Turkey left before driving in a cross that Christoph Metzelder clears from right in front of his own goal.
    • 4' Gokhan Zan goes down after colliding with Klose on the Turkish left, but no free-kick is given.
    • 3' A long, hopeful ball from deep inside the Turkey half bounces through to Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.
    • 2' Philipp Lahm looks for Podolski with a pass from the left, but it's intercepted. The Turkish defence faces a stern test tonight.
    • 1' The first semi-final of Euro 2008 is under way! Albeit slightly behind schedule. Germany kick off, and they will attack from left to right in the first half.
    • 19:44 Turkey captain Rustu Recber and German counterpart Michael Ballack read out anti-racism messages, which are respectfully received by both sets of fans.
    • 19:42 Our referee tonight is Massimo Busacca of Switzerland and he leads the teams out onto the pitch, which is looking slightly less patchy following its recent re-laying. The teams line up for the national anthems, Germany in white shirts, black shorts and white socks, Turkey in all red.
    • 19:40 It's another beautiful evening here in Basel, with the sun just dipping behind the stadium. There's moisture in the air though, as well as a light wind.
    • 19:35 So, neutrals, who are you rooting for? Love or hate the Germans, you simply have to admire their resilience and consistency. But then Turkey have really caught the imagination with their run to the last four, and a win for them tonight would rank right up there alongside Greece's escapades in 2004.
    • 19:30 Perhaps worryingly for Turkey, Germany have lost just once in five European Championship semi-finals, to the Netherlands in 1988. But then Turkey have been up against it throughout this entire competition, so the statistics and the history probably won't concern them one jot.
    • 19:25 FATUOUS STAT: Germany's Bastian Schweinsteiger already has a goal, an assist, a yellow card and a red card to his name in this tournament. The only other player to achieve this feat was Denmark's Klaus Berggreen in 1984. So now you know.
    • 19:20 This will be only the second major championship semi-final that Turkey have played, after their 1-0 defeat to eventual champions Brazil at the 2002 World Cup. The Germans, of course, are old hands at this semi-final malarkey. This will be their 16th appearance in a major tournament semi-final, but Turkey can take heart from the fact that Germany have not beaten them in the last three meetings between the sides.
    • 19:15 GERMANY TEAM NEWS: Midfielder Torsten Frings returned to training after sustaining a fractured rib in the Portugal game, but he has to make do with a place on the bench as Joachim Loew sticks with the same XI that sent Cristiano Ronaldo and co packing. Lukas Podolski continues to partner Miroslav Klose up front, with Bastian Schweinsteiger on the right of midfield and former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger on the left.
    • 19:10 TURKEY TEAM NEWS: Semih leads the line for the Turks in the absence of Tuncay and Nihat, while former Bury, Brighton and Sheffield United man Colin Kazim-Richards - or Kazim Kazim as he's known in Turkey - starts on the right of midfield. With so many players absent, Turkey coach Fatih Terim is able to name just four players on the substitutes bench.
    • 19:05 Turkey have made something of a habit of late comebacks in this tournament, having also come from behind to beat Switzerland and the Czech Republic in the group stage. But they go into this match severely depleted, with Emre Belozoglu, Nihat Kahveci, Servet Cetin and Ugur Boral injured and Emre Asik, Tuncay Sanli, Arda Turan and goalkeeper Volkan Demirel all suspended. Germany, meanwhile, are expected to be at full strength.
    • 19:00 Good evening and welcome to LIVE coverage of the first Euro 2008 semi-final between Germany and Turkey from St Jakob-Park in Basel. The Germans moved ominously into form with their 3-2 quarter-final victory over Portugal, while Semih Senturk's late, late, late extra-time equaliser inspired Turkey to a penalty shootout win over Croatia in their last-eight tie. Kick-off is at 19:45 BST.
