    • 90+4' FULL TIME. Denmark thought they had rescued a point right at the death, but Nielsen was denied and so Shaqiri's goal separates the sides.
    • 90+4' Denmark have the ball in the next but Nielsen is adjudged offside, rightly. How heartbreaking for the player, who reacted furiously.
    • 93' Shaqiri, the matchwinner, surely, is replaced by Timm Klose.
    • 90+2' Eriksen looks for the top corner, but, unsurprisingly, Sommer saves. This keeper has been outstanding.
    • 90+1' A late free-kick for Switzerland, and Eriksen lines it up...
    • 90' Confirmation that Patjim Kasami has come on for Admir Mehmedi for Switzerland.
    • 90' Dalsgaard appears to appeal for a penalty but it never was. Desperation is setting in for Switzerland here.
    • 89' Denmark really do deserve a share of the points here but Sommer has been excellent. Can they break his resistance in what remains of the game?
    • 88' Sommer comes out again to punch clear. What a game he has had for Switzerland.
    • 86' Sommer excels again as he produces a fine close-range save to deny Dalsgaard. He then gets to his feet and saves a header from Jensen. Superb work.
    • 85' Still Shaqiri looks for the unexpected pass. His shooting may have been a touch wayward at times but his goal divides the teams and some of his play has been brilliant.
    • 83' Jensen gets a toe to a ball into the box but it does not trouble Sommer in the Switzerland goal.
    • 82' Wass, who has played well and came very close to scoring, is replaced by Henrik Dalsgaard. Boilesen is also off as Jesper Juelsgard comes on.
    • 80' Jorgensen calls Sommer into action but his effort lacks the pace to beat the Switzerland goalkeeper.
    • 79' Shaqiri succeeds where Eriksen fails and actually pulls off a Zidane turn. However, his subsequent reverse pass doesn't find its man.
    • 78' Shaqiri works a corner short and Denmark clear as the delivery is lacking in danger.
    • 77' They may come to rue that chance missed by Wass. But there is plenty of time left in this game to grab a draw.
    • 75' Denmark are beginning to apply a lot of pressure, can Switzerland hold out?
    • 74' A lovely move from Denmark culminates in a superb chance. The Danes work the ball down the left and cut it back to Wass. His shot back across goal appears to be going in until he is denied by a wonderful reaction save from Sommer.
    • 72' Wass intercepts a square pass and slips the ball to Nielsen, but when the striker throws himself to ground after contact with a defender he does not win a free-kick.
    • 71' A good chance for Denmark as Nielsen rises high to meet the ball, only to be denied by a fine save from Sommer. That was a decent effort.
    • 69' Frei is replaced by Xavier Hochstrasser.
    • 68' Shaqiri, again, takes aim from long range but his effort flies high into the night sky. No bother, he will be dining out on that first goal anyway if Switzerland win.
    • 66' Switzerland fail to deal with a long throw from the left and the ball falls to defender Bjelland. However his stabbed effort is saved by Sommer at his near post. That was a decent chance.
    • 64' A free-kick from Shaqiri flats across the box and Andersen has to touch it wide for a corner. When Switzerland work the ball into the box, they are penalised for a foul on the keeper.
    • 63' A cross from Fenger takes a touch and Switzerland goalkeeper Sommer watches the ball into his hands. Good interception.
    • 62' Berardi booked for a poor challenge on Nielsen.
    • 62' Excellent run from Jensen but his cut-back from the left of the box fails to find a team-mate.
    • 61' Wass takes a knock in a challenge from Lustenberger but it will not force his withdrawal.
    • 60' There are 30 minutes remaining for Denmark to avoid disappointing a sell-out home crowd here in Aalborg. The chances have dried up a bit though.
    • 58' Nicolai Jorgensen replaces Kadrii. He was having a decent game.
    • 57' Great persistence from Koch as the right-back rides a challenge and bursts into the box. But his cross is cut out as he fails to find a Swiss shirt.
    • 55' Emeghara tries to pull the ball down in the box and for a moment looks to have it under control after a bout of juggling. However, Denmark clear.
    • 54' Eriksen guides the ball out for a corner as Denmark look to respond.
    • 53' If Switzerland do win tonight then you would fancy them to coast through the group. On the evidence of the earlier game, they will be fine against Belarus and Iceland.
    • 51' So how do Denmark respond? They were arguably the better side in the first half and need to get Eriksen on the ball.
    • 50' Now Shaqiri produces a back-heeled pass. What a player this 19-year-old is.
    • 48' GOAL! Shaqiri with a moment of brilliance! Collecting the ball in the centre of the pitch, Shaqiri turns and ghosts away from three or four players before slotting his shot back across goal and past Andersen. Fantastic.
    • 47' Kadrii makes space in the box but cannot find a team-mate with his cross. Still, an encouraging start for Denmark.
    • 46' No changes from either side by the way.
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • 45+1' HALF TIME. Not a bad game so far, but no goals. Denmark have been on top.
    • 45+1' Lovely stuff from Denmark. Wass produces a sumptuous ball with the outside of his right boot to release Nielsen and the striker's volley flies towards the top corner of the goal but swerves off target.
    • 45' One minute of added time.
    • 45' Again Shaqiri shoots wide from just outside the box as he curls an effort inches wide. If he keeps having these chances eventually one will go in. Denmark need to deny him space.
    • 44' Wass charges 30 yards or so to nick the ball away from Berardi and wins a free-kick. The keeper claims the ball from Eriksen's delivery though.
    • 42' Emeghara slips a pass out wide to Shaqiri but the Basel man cannot find a team-mate with his cross from the right.
    • 41' Eriksen points for the pass and gets the ball where he wants it from Wass as he charges into the box, but his cut-back is blocked by a sliding challenge.
    • 40' Emeghara threatens to break away but runs straight into the redoubtable figure of Mads Fenger and his slightly unhinged run comes to an abrupt end.
    • 39' Emeghara pulls out a clever 180-degree turn and the ball rolls into the path of Shaqiri. He takes the ball on ten yards but his shot is high and off target. He has been a bit wayward in his finishing so far.
    • 37' Philippe Koch fouls Boilesen to give Denmark a free-kick on the left wing. Eriksen's delivery flies into the grateful gloves of Sommer though.
    • 36' And now Shaqiri responds. He collects the ball again from the right wing and cuts in before dragging a low shot wide of the post. He has done that twice now.
    • 34' Delicious from Eriksen. He gives Lustenberger the eyes as he spins and drags the ball away from the defender. His cross deflects to Kadrii and the striker sees his deflected effort saved.
    • 34' Berardi's cross from the left has far too much on it for Switzerland. His delivery needs to be better than that.
    • 33' Kadrii looks a decent player, and lifts the ball over an incoming sliding challenge. However the move breaks down for Denmark.
    • 31' A decent chance for Shaqiri. He takes a square pass with a fine first touch to spin into space and drills a low shot just wide of the post.
    • 30' It might be a minor hamstring problem but he is back on the pitch for Denmark to a generous round of applause.
    • 29' We have a stoppage as Frei is down clutching his thigh. He looks in some pain but walks off the pitch.
    • 28' Eriksen flicks a high ball forward to Jensen and he appeals for a free-kick when colliding with Francois Affolter and falling to ground. The referee is unimpressed though.
    • 27' Berardi with a cross but Denmark captain Andreas Bjelland is robust when heading clear.
    • 26' Kadrii takes a nice touch as Denmark attempt to launch an attack down the right wing, but from a throw the hosts are unable to carve out a decent chance.
    • 24' Denmark win a free-kick to the right of the box and instead of delivering a cross, Eriksen smacks the ball into the wall. Disappointing from the Ajax man.
    • 23' Jensen pings through an early pass for Bashkim Kadrii but the forward is unable to collect and Switzerland mop up.
    • 22' It's been a bit of a cagey start but both sides have shown flashes of quality and the game has a nice flow about it, so let's not complain too much, eh?
    • 21' Emeghara wriggles away from Wass on the left flank and is brought down by the Denmark man. He was lucky not to get a booking, but Switzerland fail to work an opening from the free-kick.
    • 20' Fabian Frei takes a corner for the Swiss but the top scorer in qualifying - with three goals - gets his delivery wrong.
    • 19' The Swiss resort to a searching long ball but striker Emeghara cannot get on the end of it.
    • 17' Eriksen attempts a Zidane-esque flick and turn but is halted as he is crowded out by Switzerland players. They would do well to deny him space tonight.
    • 16' Both sides have settled into a passing rhythm and are comfortable in possession. As an international side should be of course.
    • 14' Gaetano Berardi charges forward from left-back for Switzerland but has his run halted by a sliding challenge. He had the right idea though.
    • 13' Shaqiri draws a free-kick from Denmark midfielder Mike Jensen.
    • 12' A neat reverse pass from Eriksen forces the Swiss defence into emergency action and a hurried clearance gives Denmark a throw in an advanced area. However, the visiting side clear.
    • 11' Now Wass is caught offside as he lingers in the box.
    • 10' Kasper Povlsen launches an ambitious ball out wide to Daniel Wass on the right wing and his team-mate can only gaze as the ball flies out of play.
    • 9' Nielsen strikes a low shot at goal and with six in his last six at this level he is entitled to. Yann Sommer is equal to it though.
    • 8' So an early chance for both sides - an improvement on the first half of the opening game between Belarus and Iceland. That ended 2-0 to Belarus, putting them in pole position in Group A.
    • 7' First chance for Eriksen as he finds space from 20 yards and drags a shot just wide. He will look to pop up in pockets of space like that at any given opportunity.
    • 6' Denmark launch a long ball forward to striker Nicki Bille Nielsen, who represents Villarreal, but he is unable to connect with a header.
    • 5' That early chance doesn't appear to have unsettled Denmark although they will be concerned that their defence was opened up quite so easily in the early stages.
    • 3' A good early chance for Switzerland. Innocent Emeghara collects a sumptuous dinked pass over the defence from Shaqiri and swings his boot at goal, only for Mikkel Andersen to save.
    • 2' There's something very pure about the fact that both Shaqiri and Eriksen are in the number 10 shirts for their respective sides. Anyway, it's a quietish start from both sides in front of a full house in Aalborg.
    • 1' KICK OFF!
    • 19.45 Oh, you can follow me on Twitter should you wish, by the way. Tom Adams on Twitter
    • 19.45 So, Denmark v Switzerland, Eriksen v Shaqiri. We are just seconds away from kick-off in the second match of these European Under-21 Championships.
    • 19.40 Denmark are missing Nicklas Bendtner, who snubbed the competition in order to spend time with his family. But why would you miss a lumbering striker when, in Ajax's 19-year-old Eriksen, you have a playmaker of real vision and ability. He could be quite the player this one.
    • 19.35 This tie takes place in Aalborg and we will be subjected to a mini-opening ceremony first. You know the drill: local dancers, bad pop music, strange mosaics. Heopfully it will be over soon.
    • 19.35 Switzerland have a good crop of players coming through and won the Under-17 World Cup in 2009. Granit Xhaka, who started against England last week, was a member of that side.
    • 19.30 TEAMS: Denmark: Andersen, Zanka Jorgensen, Bjelland, Boilesen, Wass, Jensen, Eriksen, Fenger, H. Nielsen. Povlsen. Kadrii. /// Switzerland: Sommer, Koch, Rossini, Lustenberger, Emeghara, F. Frei, Shaqiri, Mehmedi, Xhaka, Affolter, Berardi.
    • 19.25 Switzerland, though, have their own gifted playmaker in Xherdan Shaqiri, of FC Basel, who started against England in last weekend's Euro 2012 qualifier.
    • 19.20 Denmark are the hosts and in Christian Erikson boast a player who has the potential to be the player of the tournament. A full international already, the Ajax playmaker is making his Under-21 debut after being fast-tracked into the senior side.
    • 19.15 Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the second game of the European Under-21 Championship between Denmark and Switzerland.
