    • 90+1' Into three minutes of time added on here in Newcastle.
    • 89' Taylor turns in the home area, but deemed to be fouling as he flashes a shot miles over the bar.
    • 88' Eto'o fouls Perch and Elliot can hammer this long into the Anzhi area.

    • 86' Logashov takes over from Eschehnko for the home side.
    • 85' Andrei Yeschenko needing a spot of treatment here. And on we go. Touch of cramp.

    • 82' Tioté replaces Cabaye for Newcastle. Almost over the line for a 0-0 draw.
    • 81' Zhirkov tries to go beyond Simpson, but the home defender does well to make sure he can't cause any damage.
    • 80' Russia national coach Fabio Capello can be found in the stands watching this match. Plenty of interest in this one for him.
    • 79' Ameobi penalised for a handball after racing onto the Sissoko pass. Newcastle showing a bit more adventure here.
    • 78' Newcastle once again content to use the wide open spaces of this pitch to keep the ball. Pardew demanding his side keep the ball here.
    • 77' Yeschenko comes up with a timely block on the shot by Marveaux. Did just enough to prevent that effort from travelling goalwards.
    • 76' Eto'o smashes the ball at goal from distance, but power carries it well away from goal after Cabaye had foulded Traore.
    • 75' Traore takes a bit of a dive under pressure 25 yards out, but he wins the free-kick for his side.
    • 74' Taylor takes over from Anita for the visting side for these final 15 minutes or so.
    • 73' Shatov takes up a menacing position in the box, but ends up striking the ball straight at Obertan, who has been a handy support figure for Newcastle in defence this evening.
    • 72' Newcastle into the final 20 minutes. This would be a great result for them to take back to Newcastle for the second leg, but work to be done yet.
    • 71' Anita breaks up the park at some speed. Unloads a shot from 30 yards that flies a couple of yards over Gabulov's bar.
    • 70' Shatov takes a tumble under pressure from Obertan. Never going to be a foul for that.
    • 69' Shatov running at Simpson, but Cabaye is on hand to cover his team-mate.
    • 68' Traore on the run through the middle at some pace, but Elliot is quickly off his line to clear the danger.
    • 67' Eto'o drops deep again, but that is another superb piece of defending by Cabaye to snuff out the attack.
    • 66' Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa with another super tackle on Ahmedov. He has had an impressive evening. No doubt about that.
    • 65' Shatov blasts an effort at goal from distance. Well over the bar from 30 yards out. Newcastle will take those all night long.
    • 64' Newcastle at home to Stoke City on Sunday. Obviously feel that Ameobi will be up to this on the plastic surface.
    • 63' Change coming for Newcastle as Ameobi takes over from Ben Arfa for the visiting team.
    • 62' Glorious chance for Ben Arfa. Sent in on goal by Cabaye, but his chip fails to deceive Gabulov, who makes a comfortable stop.
    • 61' Looks like Shola Ameobi is going to be wheeled on here for the visiting side.
    • 60' Shatov then fires a volley at goal seconds later, but the ball flies inches wide of goal. Much, much better from the home side.
    • 59' Eto'o drives a shot at goal from the edge of the box, but Elliot dives to make a superb diving stop. What a save that is.
    • 58' Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa with a strong challenge as he races back to halt the run of Traore.
    • 57' Eto'o fails to unlock the door for Anzhi with this latest surge forward as Obertan turns to wallop the ball long down the park.
    • 56' Moussa Sissoko seemed to catch Eto'o with a late one, but the play is waved on. Newcastle back on the ball with minimal fuss before a hopeful pass nestles in the arms of Gabulov.
    • 55' Newcastle with 11 men behind the ball here. Cabaye working ever so hard to mark space. A real spirit about the visiting team.
    • 54' Anzhi have certainly injected some life into their forward movements, but having very little joy in cutting open this visiting team.
    • 53' Shatov tries an adventurous pass into the Newcastle box, but easy pickings for Elliot in the visiting goal.
    • 52' Another poor, poor delivery from Eto'o. Easy stuff from Cabaye as he nods clear the corner. Pardew cutting a fairly calm figure.
    • 51' Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa not messing around as he hoists clear the cross from Ahmedov. And that will be a corner to Anzhi.
    • 50' Decent turn of pace by Traore. Hammers in the shot, but an excellent block by Perch on the edge of his box. Solid piece of defending in keeping with Newcastle's stance in Moscow.
    • 49' Very much a defensive effort from Newcastle, who have gone almost five hours now without a goal in Europe in open play. They won't care if this remains 0-0.
    • 48' Tarore trying to lead the charge for Anzhi, but Obertan is back in his home half helping out.
    • 47' The first shot in Anzhi vs Newcastle Utd officially came in the 39th minute, the longest wait for a shot in a Europa League game this season. Weird stat.
    • 46' Off we go then for the second period. Newcastle can't be too perturbed about how that first period has work out.
    • 45+1' There goes the whistle for the break. 0-0. Let us hope the second half catches fire a bit.
    • 44' We are into one minute of time added on in this first period.
    • 43' Newcastle letting Anzhi work the ball across the face of them. Diarra caught offside from Zhirkov's pass. Almost time up for this half.
    • 42' Marveaux with the free-kick. Threw the ball in with a decent amout of pace, but Traore used his height to clear the danger with a header.
    • 41' Ahmedov is penalised for a foul on Haïdara, and Newcastle have an attacking free-kick out wide.
    • 40' One shot at goal from Eto'o is your lot for this half so far. Not exactly the best advert for the world game, but watchable enough fare.
    • 39' Zhirkov penalised for a late challenge to relieve the pressure on Newcastle. And on we go at 0-0.
    • 38' First real trouble of the night for Newcastle. Alan Pardew out of his technical area doing a spot of arm-waving.
    • 37' Eto'o hammers a shot at goal from distance. Plenty of pace on the shot, but a fine save by Elliot to make the block. Vital stop by the visiting goalkeeper.
    • 36' Anita concedes a free-kick for a foul on Shatov, but Newcastle win it back before Elliot hammers it long from deep seconds later.
    • 35' Simpson using all of his experience to win the ball in the middle of his half. Sends it straight back to Elliot as Newcastle prefer to retain possession.
    • 34' Only two yellow shirts in the Newcastle half. Don't need to go anywhere with it. And aren't really interested in throwing bodies up the park. Newcastle only 10 minutes or so away from 0-0 at the break.
    • 33' Sissoko picks out Simpson out wide. But Newcastle seem to be under instructions to keep the ball rather than bound up the park.
    • 32' Odil Ahmedov pulled back by Haidara, who is booked for that tug on the shirt. But another poor ball this time from Shatov buries the attack.
    • 31' Yeschenko with a hopeful ball into the middle, but headed out by Perch. Elliot thumps it long seconds later. Anzhi trying to assemble some pressure.
    • 30' Eto'o looks to pick out Traore on the run through the middle, but he is inches offside. Decent movement.
    • 29' Newcastle continue to look to keep the ball and keep it deep. The yellow shirts drop deep again. The conservative approach to this match continues.
    • 28' Newcastle have lost only four of their 42 European games since September 2003 - winning 29, and drawing nine. Not a bad record by any standard.
    • 27' Haidara does well to charge down the ball from Eto'o after he had smuggled it away from Simpson. Eto'o appealing for a handball, but referee not interested.
    • 26' Traore crunches into a late tackle on Cabaye. And Newcastle can retain possession. They win their first corner of the night.
    • 25' Simpson picks up the loose ball after Traore tried a neat little lay-off. I'm not obviously sure that the big forward will be the answer here for Anzhi.
    • 24' Eto'o forced to drop a bit deeper with Willian out of the action. Newcastle looking very comfortable at the moment. Without tempting fate here.
    • 23' Samuel Eto'o has mustered 22 shots in the Europa League, the joint-second most this term. But none tonight so far.
    • 22' Lacina Traore is introduced to take over from the hobbling Willian for the home side. Which is a bit of a blow to their hopes.
    • 21' Ahmedov is caught narrowly offside. Meanwhile, it looks like Willian may be departing the action here.
    • 20' Marveaux doing well to cut out the run of Shatov. Once again Anzhi quicker to these second balls to pick up possession. But they are content to keep it and build slowly.
    • 19' Ben Arfa just offside as he came face to face with Zhirkov. Hiddink well wrapped up in that Anzhi technical area.
    • 18' Anita slides the ball out to Ben Arfa. Very conservative from the visitors who move forward before moving the ball all the way back.
    • 17' Shatov takes another corner for Anzhi while Willian receives some treatment. Cabaye does his job well at the near post to head clear.
    • 16' Willian drives that corner in with some pace, but seemed to catch the ground first. Easy enough clearance for Cabaye to make.
    • 15' Haidara back to block Willian and Anzhi will have a corner here. Chance to get their bigger men up into the box.
    • 14' A bit more like it from Anzhi, but Elliot yet to make a stop. While Gabulov might suffer from frostbite at the other end. He has only touched the ball a couple of times.
    • 13' Willian eluding a couple of Newcastle shirts. Some purposeful play, but runs out of ground and thumps a shot into the side netting.
    • 12' Great run and cross by Shatov. Tries to pick out Willian, but Newcastle do enough to clear with Simpson struggling to race back. Nice passing movements by Willian again.
    • 11' The Anzhi fans making themselves heard in this vast arena as Anita picks out Obertan. But Jucilei breaks up the move.
    • 10' For all their pretty possession stuff, Hiddink's men have yet to get a shot at goal. Neither side have had a shot at goal. Lively start in one sense, sluggish in another.
    • 9' Newcastle's 1-0 win at FC Metalist Kharkiv in their round of 32 second leg ended a run of five away games without a win in Europe - three draws and two losses. They chase another win here this evening.
    • 8' Willian tries to pick out Eto'o, but Cabaye is alert to cut out the danger. Diligent defending by the French international.
    • 7' Anzhi are a very neat, neat side. Shatov trying to bring Willian into the action as much as possible in these opening exchanges.
    • 6' Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa takes out Eto'o with a late challenge, but Willian's free-kick is deflected high into the Moscow sky before Elliot collects with some ease.
    • 5' Vladimir Gabulov tries to pick out Eto'o with a long ball down the middle, but he is marked by two or three figures.
    • 4' Cabaye slides into a strong challenge. Vital that Newcastle get a feel for the ball. Andrei Yeschenko takes a throw-in for Anzhi.
    • 3' A first trip to Russia for Newcastle with around 100 fans behind them. Zhrikov keeping the ball well before picking out Diarra, but the home side not going anywhere with it.
    • 2' A stadium that holds 78,000. Only about 12,000 inside this vast arena. Decent cross by Obertan, but danger is cleared by the yellow shirts.
    • 1' We are off and running then on the plastic. Newcastle get us started.
    • 16:55 The teams on their way out for this one. Looks to be a freezing night in Moscow. An evening for gloves and woolies. Snow adorning the side of the artificial park.
    • 16:50 Match odds for this one if you are after a bet: Anzhi 4/6, Newcastle 5/1, Draw 14/5. That 5-1 on Newcastle seems like an appealing option to me. Or draw at 14/5 could be a better option.
    • 16:45 Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been dealt a major blow by the news skipper Fabricio Coloccini could be out of action for up to seven weeks. "Colo has gone back to Argentina," said Pardew. "There's no treatment he can have - he's broken two of the bones in his back. We think it's going to be anything between three and seven weeks. He's gone back for a week."
    • 16:40 Anzhi coach Guus Hiddink: "Newcastle did not start the season well, but they have improved a lot in recent weeks. They are a strong team that plays modern football. They have powerful and skilful players in every position, such as Moussa Sissoko. I'm sure they want to be in the final in Amsterdam on 15 May."
    • 16:35 Anzhi have a full squad to pick from - bar the suspended Mbark Boussoufa - and start with former Premier League players Yuri Zhirkov and Lassana Diarra. January signing Willian will also play in a three behind lone striker Samuel Eto'o, formerly of Inter and Barcelona.
    • 16:30 Newcastle hand a first start to Hatem Ben Arfa since December after he recovered from a hamstring strain. Rob Elliot, central defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, and midfielders Yohan Cabaye and Moussa Sissoko are the only survivors from the weekend defeat to Swansea. Teenage forward Adam Campebell is on the bench for the visiting side.
