    • Wigan Athletic
    • NK Maribor
    • 90+4' The referee calls time on a cracking match of football. No one could begrudge Wigan their victory but they were made to work for it in the second half...
    • 90+3' Crazy scenes at the DW Stadium. Wigan break forward at the death. A fourth goal beckons but it's headed over the bar.
    • 90+2' Nick Powell comes off to a standing ovation. Thoroughly deserved.
    • 90+1' GOAL! A hopeful ball through the middle soon finds its way to Powell. He strolls past one yellow shirt, then a second... Can he win it for Wigan? He can! The Latics are going to win on their European home debut!
    • 90' Great link up by Maribor finds Tavares in space on the edge of the area. He shoots... It's destined for the top corner... But Carson pulls off a stunning one-handed save to tip it over the bar!
    • 89' Maribor have a throw inside the Wigan half. A place for them to build a final assault on their opponents' goal.
    • 88' Filipovic takes a knee to the back and is stretched out on the turf in pain. Think he'll be alright.
    • 87' Wigan can take a bit of a breather as a wayward Maribor pass ends up in the stands.
    • 86' It turns out this Maribor side can pass the ball. Great build up from the Slovenians. Nerves aplenty.
    • 85' More groans as Wigan lose possession again. They soon have it back though, but there's no doubt that their passing is less crispy than the opening hour.
    • 84' Owen Coyle barks out another set of instructions from the sidelines. Powell goes to ground in the area. Penalty? No, just a corner.
    • 83' Two Maribor changes - Bohar and Mejac off. Viler and Fajic on.
    • 82' McClean finds Powell down the right wing but the forward can only concede a throw.
    • 81' Very edgy from Wigan. Maribor are chasing the ball down. Much improved from the Slovenian side.
    • 80' Into the final 10 minutes at the DW Stadium. Now it's Maribor lurking with intent on the edge of the Wigan area.
    • 79' Wigan begin another assualt on the Maribor goal but McClean loses possession.
    • 78' Nick Powell skips past his marker but can't quite a shot in at goal. Surely Wigan can't throw this away?
    • 77' And a change for Wigan too as Chris McCann comes on for Ben Watson.
    • 76' Dejan Mezga comes in for Maribor. Mertelj makes way.
    • 75' Yet another agonising moment for Wigan. Watson gets into the box, he sends one towards the far corner but Powell at full-stretch can't turn it in.
    • 74' Maribor pass their way into the Wigan half. Tavares has a crack from the edge of the area. Well held by Carson.
    • 73' A cross from the left goes over Powell. McClean didn't gamble behind him.
    • 72' Mendy makes a challenge, cleanly wins the ball but the referee sees it differently and awards a foul. Unhappy, the striker bounces the ball down in frustration. The referee sees that as dissent and books him.
    • 71' Wigan force a corner down the right. The big lads from the back are forward but for some reason they take it short. It's worked to McClean who drives his shot straight at a yellow shirt.
    • 70' Shotton slips and Mendy has the chance to run at goal... Captain Boyce is refusing to let his centre-back partner ruin this and leaps to his aid to win the ball back.
    • 69' Coyle saunters into his technical area and attempts to gee up his troops. They are just over 20 minutes away from a famous win.
    • 68' Ironic cheers sound out across the stadium as the referee awards Wigan a free-kick on the halfway line. Not sure why they feel that hard done by.
    • 67' Here is the substitution. The Wigan fans rise to their feet to applaud McManaman as he comes off the DW turf. James McClean joins the action.
    • 66' Maribor now knocking it about confidentally at the back.
    • 65' McManaman is strolling about the park. He's put in a real shift but is still lacking match fitness. Expect a change on the Wigan right.
    • 64' It's got a little nervy in the DW. The fans need to get behind their team again who are murmuring slightly. Someone should probably remind them that they're a second tier side playing the Slovenian champions. This is still a quality result.
    • 63' Beausejour tries to latch onto a clipped ball over the top. Handanovic jogs off his line to claim.
    • 62' Looks like the earlier praise of the Wigan defence was a touch premature... Shotton was rolled far too easily by Mendy.
    • 61' That in a nutshell is why a 2-0 lead is never enough. Wigan should be out of sight.
    • 60' GOAL! Shotton gets too close to Mendy and is turned. The Maribor forward shrugs off Shotton's challenge before cutting it back to Tavares who fires into the net. From nowhere, Maribor are back in this.
    • 59' Can't criticise a single Wigan player for their performance in the opening hour. Beausejour and McManaman have starred, but everyone has done their bit for the Latics.
    • 58' McManaman drives at his opposite number and sends in another low cross. It deflects out towards Beausejour. He has so much time to pick his spot, but he can't find the net.
    • 57' Wigan build from the back with Shotton and Boyce. Both have been excellent tonight.
    • 56' Maribor look all over the place. Surely it's only a matter of time before Wigan notch their third.
    • 55' Beausejour, involved again, flashes the ball across the area. Powell is arriving at the backpost. He must score... It hits the post... Rolls along the line... And doesn't go in! Wow. Still 2-0.
    • 54' The local drummer is really enjoying himself. It sounds like the Wigan are chanting 'Luis Suarez', so I've clearly misheard that one.
    • 53' The Wigan onslaught continues. Or it would have if Boyce hadn't cannonned a through ball off the park.
    • 52' Undeterred, McManaman works some space down the right flank again. This time his marker is forced to retreat into the area. The winger flashes in an effort at goal which Handanovic unconvincingly palms clear.
    • 51' Wigan camped on the edge of the Maribor box. McManaman breaks down the right, ghosts past Cvijanovic and gets tugged back. Free-kick Wigan. Nope, forget that. The referee has seen something else and given it the other way.
    • 50' Wigan work their way down the left but come up against a wall of yellow shirts.
    • 49' Former Barcelona player Jordi Gomez gets Wigan going forward again. The Spaniard played a grand total of 22 minutes for the La Liga giants.
    • 48' Beausejour tries a cheeky trick on the edge of the area. Wigan fans don't like that. They know how important the next goal is - as it always is in any football match where the score is 2-0...
    • 47' Maribor work an early opening down the left. Cvijanovic floats a cross to the backpost but it flies over everyone.
    • 46' Here we go then. Maribor get us up and running in the second half. The DW is rocking!
    • 45+1' Stunning first 45 minutes of home European football from Wigan Athletic. Maribor have seldom threatened but will surely improve after the break. See you in 15.
    • 45' McManaman breaks free down the right and heads at goal. Can he find the far bottom corner? Not quite. His shot flashes just wide of the post.
    • 44' Wigan just need to be a little bit careful so as not to concede. Maribor enjoying a good two minute spell.
    • 43' Cvijanovic balloons a shot over the bar after Mendy had broken clear of the Wigan defence.
    • 42' Gomez spots Beausejour in acres of space on the left but he can't quite pick him out.
    • 41' Given how well Wigan have played it might be worth UEFA considering awarding a Europa League place to the top few sides in the Championship...
    • 40' Maribor edge up the field down the left flank. They look pretty devoid of ideas at present.
    • 39' McManaman works an opening down the right flank and flashes the ball across the face of goal. It evades everyone and comes to Beausejour who clearly wasn't expecting the ball to reach him because he throws a panic leg at the ball. Big chance, that.
    • 38' Normal service resumed as Wigan get the ball down on the DW turf and knock it about with ease.
    • 37' Soares Arghus, who is having a bit of a shocker, concedes a foul on the halfway line.
    • 36' Another terrible mistake puts Powell through on goal. But the Man United loanee attempts a daft chip which sails over the bar. Surely he should have lashed that at goal? Wigan may just rue that miss...
    • 35' Finally Maribor win possession back when McManaman gives away a foul on the right.
    • 34' This is ridiculous. Wigan are toying with their opponents. They're enjoying so much of the ball.
    • 33' GOAL! Wigan knock the ball about for ages in the middle before Gomez eventually switches it out to the left. Beausejour whips in a cross and Watson diverts it past Handanovic with his head. Wigan are going to win the Europa League.
    • 32' Mendy has another effort at goal but he can't find the corner. Carson gathers.
    • 31' It's testament to the English game that a side from the second tier can look so comfortable in a European competition.
    • 30' Will it be Watson or Gomez to hit the free-kick this time? It's Watson. It's as poor, perhaps even worse, as his teammates effort.
    • 29' Quality dribbling tekkers from Beausejour as he weaves through a sea of yellow shirts. He lays it off to Powell who goes down under pressure. Referee says foul.
    • 28' Mendy shrugs off Watson, beats another and takes a pop at goal. It's straight at Carson but it's still a good stop.
    • 27' This is better from the visitors. They swarm forward with Tavares and pen their opponents in.
    • 26' Wigan won't mind that. Shocking set-piece from Maribor.
    • 25' But the visitors force a free-kick 30 yards from goal as McArthur brings down Marcos Tavares. Clumsy challenge.
    • 24' Will that goal wake Maribor from their slumber? They've not looked that interested to this point.
    • 23' After his early save from Powell it seemed Handanovic would be the man to thwart Wigan tonight. Instead he claims an assist for their opener.
    • 22' GOAL! Beausejour's cross deflects high into the Wigan sky and Handanovic comes to punch clear. Terrible punch! It loops behind him towards Nick Powell who can't miss. Wigan have scored their first ever European goal!
    • 21' Shocking effort from Gomez who strikes his free-kick straight into the wall. It limply bounces out for a throw on the other side...
    • 20' Just spotted Roberto Martinez in the stands - the man responsible for Wigan's place in the Europe League... And the Championship. Wigan force a free-kick on the edge of the area...
    • 19' Wigan deal with the set-piece but can only clear as far as Ales Mejac. He powers a drive at goal, it looks destined for the net, but it arrows narrowly wide.
    • 18' Down the other end, Cvijanovic takes a strike at goal which deflects behind for a corner.
    • 17' Watson works a clever corner to McArthur on the edge of the box. The midfielder's shot sails past the goal.
    • 16' Beausejour forces a throw for Wigan on the halfway line. The home side start spraying it about once more.
    • 15' Ryan Shotton, on loan from Stoke City, tries to switch the play. Pretty poor execution sees it shoot out for a throw.
    • 14' Watson is forced towards his own corner flag but managed to work a yard and hack the ball away.
    • 13' McManaman looking lively as he darts inside past a few yellow shirts before sensibly laying the ball off inside.
    • 12' A long crossfield pass out towards Callum McManaman is a touch overhit and the youngster can't quite catch it.
    • 11' McArthur and Ales Merelj look in a spot of bother after a clash of heads. Both sluggishly return to their feet.
    • 10' Very impressive start from Wigan. Maribor can't get out their half.
    • 9' The resulting corner is headed out to James McArthur on the edge of the area. His shot flashes narrowly wide.
    • 8' Sloppy Maribor inadvertantly slips in Nick Powell. He's one-on-one with Jasmin Handanovic but the keeper stays big and gets a hand to the shot and tips it wide.
    • 7' This time it's Wigan's turn to concede a foul as Jordi Gomez clips a yellow shirt.
    • 6' Jean-Philippe Mendy hauls down Watson in the middle of the park. Wigan free-kick.
    • 5' Wigan getting rid of their early nerves by calmly keeping hold of the ball.
    • 4' Maribor suffered a night to forget in their opening group stage fixture when they were thumped 5-2 by Rubin Kazan.
    • 3' It's swung in towards Emmerson Boyce but it just evades the defender. The knock down falls to Ben Watson, the crowd urge him to shoot, but he elects to pass it backwards.
    • 2' 13,000 odd fans have come out tonight and are in good voice. Beausejour wins a free-kick down the left...
    • 1' Wigan's European home adventure has begun. The hosts in their traditional blue and white strip with Maribor in yellow.
    • 20:00 Five minutes until the showdown begins. The players are in the tunnel...
    • 19:55 Will this European run hamper Wigan's chances of bouncing straight back into the Premier League? Wigan sit 15th in the Championship, albeit with two games in hand, and face a season with little rest should they progress in the Europa League given the demanding domestic schedule.
    • 19:50 This was the fixture that jumped out at everyone when the fixtures were revealed – Championship side Wigan’s home debut in Europe. In all seriousness though, this should be an enjoyable game as Wigan will want to put on a display for the home fans.
    • 19:45 Not many familiar players in the Maribor line-up but remember that this was the side who held Tottenham to a 1-1 draw last season.
    • 19:40 Wigan manager Owen Coyle makes a fair few changes to the side which drew 0-0 with Zulte. Leon Barnett, Jean Beausejour, Ben Watson and James McArthur are the four trusted with responsibility tonight after missing the match in Belgium.
    • 19:35 TEAMS – Wigan: Carson, Shotton, Boyce, Perch, Barnett, Beausejour, Watson, McArthur, Gomez, McManaman, Powell… Subs: Nicholls, Rogne, McCann, McClean, Espinoza, Garcia, Dicko /// Maribor: Handanovic, Filipovic, Milec, Mejac, Tavares, Mendy, Cvijanovic, Rajcevic, Bohar, Arghus, Mertelj… Subs: Pridigar, Mezga, Fajic, Dervisevic, Potokar, Viler, Dodlek.
