    • Newcastle United
    • 90+4' The referee decides not to use the full five minutes and blows the whistle. A fitting tribute to the fans lost in the Malaysian Airlines tragedy and a good result.
    • 90+3' Timetheou does well down the right flank. Sydney bossing the last couple of minutes. Ryall’s cross blocked for a throw.
    • 90+2' There have been a lot of substitutions but five minutes of additional time does seem excessive in a friendly.
    • 90+1' Good cross from Timetheou into a dangerous area but cleared by Yanga-Mbiwa.
    • 90' Chants from Newcastle fans of ‘We want five’. And they will get five. Minutes of stoppage time, that is...
    • 89' Confidence-building claim from Necevski but he’s had a night to forget.
    • 88' Triantis shown a yellow card as Sydney keep fighting. Ameobi wins another corner.
    • 87' Almost a cracking consolation for Sydney but perhaps Elliot had it covered...
    • 86' Great effort from Triantis flies just wide of Elliot’s post!
    • 84' Antonis tries to beat one man too many on the edge of the box and should really have passed. Chance gone.
    • 83' Not a great night for Sydney and they’ll want the end of this match now. Pardew will be happy with the performance.
    • 82' Goal Newcastle! Lovely run and pass from Campbell to find Armstrong and his composed finish beats Necevski.
    • 81' Sydney sub: Gameiro off for Timetheou, Newcastle sub: Campbell on for Coloccini.
    • 80' Abeid takes and Perez gets a head on it but it lacks power and loops onto the roof of the net.
    • 79' Strong run from Ameobi and he does well to win another corner.
    • 78' More of an attritional pre-season friendly in the second half after the entertainment of the first. Still a decent tribute though.
    • 77' Ameobi wins a corner. Abeid takes but beyond Coloccini. Abeid penalised for hand ball.
    • 76' A good work out for the Newcastle team. Seven changes so far and maybe more to come.
    • 75' Newcastle subs: Gouffran off for Armstrong, Taylor off for Satka, Haidara off for Dummett.
    • 74' Dangerous cross from Ameobi but nobody gambling in the centre.
    • 72' Ognenovski did in fact get a yellow card for that challenge.
    • 71' Perez caught late by Ognenovski and it’s another free kick.
    • 70' Haidara tries to whip in a dangerous cross but it deflects back off him for a Sydney goal kick.
    • 69' Hopeful ball forward, easy for Coloccini who has been solid.
    • 68' Newcastle subs: Colback and Aarons off for Abeid and Ameobi.
    • 66' Shot from Perez over the bar after a neat bit of footwork.
    • 65' The lost Newcastle fans being honoured.
    • 64' He has a save to make now as he scrambles clear a shot from Gameiro.
    • 63' Sydney still to really threaten Rob Elliot. He hasn’t had a save of note to make.
    • 62' Sydney sub: Brosque off for Triantis.
    • 61' Gouffran almost clear but Ognenovski does well to clear.
    • 59' Haidara brought down by Ryall and Newcastle have a free kick on the edge of the box. Sydney clear.
    • 58' Vuckic on the charge and Newcastle win yet another corner. Colback delivers and Taylor close to getting on the end of it. Sydney clear.
    • 57' It’s a wasted first Sydney corner that floats over everyone. Disappointing.
    • 56' Quiet opening to this second half. Onus on Sydney to attack but they won’t want to get caught on the break as it could become embarrassing. They force a corner.
    • 54' Sydney sub: Dimitrijevic on for Carle.
    • 53' Deflected effort loops over Necevski and over for a goal kick. Riviere off for Perez.
    • 52' More movement on the Newcastle bench. Expect more subs imminently.
    • 51' Gouffran forces a corner for Newcastle. Colback takes, Sydney clear through Carle.
    • 50' STAT: Elliot only made two premier League appearances for Newcastle last season. Both were 4-0 defeats.
    • 49' A bit more composure from Sydney at the start of this second half.
    • 48' Bright start for Newcastle again. Another dangerous run from Aarons but his cross is cut out.
    • 46' One change for Newcastle as De Jong is off for Vuckic.
    • 45' We’re back underway here in Dunedin.
    • 45' No stoppage time here and that’s half time. Comfortable for Newcastle.
    • 44' Riviere crowded out and it’s back to Necevski. Newcastle build again from their own half.
    • 43' Newcastle still playing it around nicely before the break. Sydney will want that half time whistle.
    • 42' Shot from Gouffran deflects off De Jong and behind for a goal kick.
    • 41' The flag stays down and Gameiro is inches away from bringing it down with just Elliot to beat.
    • 40' De Jong takes and it’s well wide. Perhaps Colback should have hit it.
    • 39' Yellow card for Petkovic for handling Gouffran’s long ball.
    • 38' Decent delivery from Abbas but Brosque can’t quite get his head on it. Encouraging for Sydney.
    • 37'
    • 36' Terrible clearance from Petkovic but he gets away with it. Sydney look a little shell shocked.
    • 35' That was also Yanga-Mbiwa’s first goal in Newcastle colours.
    • 34' It’s a great first half so far for Newcastle. Certainly no sign of jet lag!
    • 33' GOAL Newcastle! And it’s Yanga-Mbiwa’s deflected drive that finds the back of the net. Slightly unfortunate for Necevski as it came off Ognenovski’s boot.
    • 32' De Jong almost releases Riviere through the middle but good defending from Petkovic, the last line of defence.
    • 31' Nice touch...
    • 30' After a quiet opening, De Jong has been more and more involved after giving Newcastle the lead.
    • 29' Great play from Anita and Gersbach hacks him down right on the edge of the box. Close to being a pen.
    • 28' Sydney win a rare free kick but De Jong is back to deal with the danger.
    • 27'
    • 26' So both Newcastle signings have made their mark. De Jong also scored netted last week.
    • 25' GOAL Newcastle! A nice cross from Gouffran finds Riviere who slots home for his first goal in a Newcastle shirt.
    • 24' Cross towards Gouffran but Necevski and his defenders scramble clear.
    • 23' Again Necevski in no man’s land and he is just able to hack clear on the edge of his own box.
    • 21' Newcastle fans in good voice now, letting the Sydney keeper have an earful for his howler.
    • 19' Sydney suddenly in disarray at the back. Coloccini has his shot blocked and it’s scrambled clear.
    • 18' Newcastle with their tails up now. They attack again and win a corner.
    • 17' GOAL Newcastle! It’s a moment to forget for the Sydney keeper. He gifted the ball to Riviere and he passed to De Jong to sidefoot into an empty net.
    • 16' Cross from Ryall on the overlap but well claimed by Elliot, his first real piece of action.
    • 15' Another good spell from Newcastle. Lots of neat passing but no real penetration.
    • 14' Mis-controlled by Gouffran this time. Not much of a flow to this friendly as yet.
    • 13' New signing Siem de Jong has not seen much of the ball yet. Has spent the last two years skippering Ajax, proven pedigree.
    • 11' Still Newcastle dominating possession but only that half chance for Riviere to show.
    • 10' Replays show good work from Necevski at the feet of Riviere to thwart the new striker.
    • 9' Elliot yet to get a tough in the Newcastle goal. All good so far.
    • 8' CHANCE RIVIERE: A good cross from Aarons and he gets to it but Sydney scramble it clear.
    • 7' Carle has Ryall in support in space on the right but it’s a poor ball and Sydney’s chance is lost.
    • 6' Riviere not seen a lot of the ball yet but early days. Free kick to Sydney.
    • 5' Promising run and dangerous cross from Aarons but Sydney survive.
    • 4' Good run from Gouffran steaming down the right wing. Petkovic does well to get a boot to his cross to clear.
    • 3' Good spell of possession for Sydney before Haidara gets a boot in.
    • 2' Aarons felled on the edge of the box but no free-kick given. All Newcastle in the opening two minutes.
    • 1' Newcastle setting up in an attacking 4-2-3-1 but will jetlag be a factor after only arriving two days ago? Yanga-Mbiwa looks for RIviere but Sydney clear.
    • We’re underway here in Dunedin following a moving minute’s silence for the fans lost in the Malaysian Airlines tragedy. Will be intriguing to see how Pardew’s new signings fare. Around 8,000 Newcastle fans here but the stadium about a third full.
    • 8.25 Alan Pardew: "It's important we represent ourselves in the right manner, especially after losing John and Liam - our supporters who were travelling out here. We have to conduct ourselves well on and off the pitch and get some strong results. That is what they would have wanted and that is what we want, so in memory of those guys in particular, we want this to be a successful tour. We have to honour these guys in the right manner because it does mean a lot to us. Their tragic loss has hurt the group. On Tuesday, I will be playing a very strong side. That is only right and fair in light of what's happened."
    • 8.20 Pardew has named a strong line-up for tonight’s match in Dunedin. Emmanuel Riviere starts six days after arriving from Monaco and new recruits Siem de Jong and Jack Colback are also handed starts.
    • 8.15 Players out on the pitch and warming up ahead of the game. Kick-off in 15 minutes.
    • 8.10 Following the news that Newcastle United fans John Alder and Liam Sweeney were killed on the MH17 flight, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has dedicated the forthcoming season to their memory. Pardew and captain Fabricio Coloccini will lay wreaths on John and Liam’s seats ahead of kick-off and a minute’s silence will be observed.
