    • 90'+3 Full time - good to see Falcao back, but one gets the feeling that the game is just a warm-up for the main event of Arsenal v Benfica - which I'll be covering live shortly, with kick-off in about 20 minutes.
    • 90'+1 Very little happening now as the teams fundamentally go through the motions to see out the time.
    • 90' We're into the closing minutes now, with some time added on for those substitution breaks and the cramp Vezo suffered after that stretch to clear.
    • 88' Good ball from Falcao out to the right-hand side, and Vezo has to stretch to prevent the tap-in from the cross.
    • 87' This is feeling like a training exercise at the moment.
    • 85' Falcao is unmarked in the box, waiting for one of his team-mates to give him the ball. Doesn't look like he'll get it from Echiejile, whose cross is far over his head.
    • 84' So, with this eccentric Emirates Cup points system, both teams have a point each for the draw, plus an additional two points each for the goals scored.
    • 83' The pace was never that blistering from the start but this is slowing right down in the closing stages now.
    • 81' Such excitement as Falcao gets a touch!
    • 80' GOAL! Substitute Ocampos hits it low and hard and into the box from 20 yards out. Alves isn't anywhere near it, and that makes that wasted Gil chance even more important.
    • 79' Subasic comes out to stop the shot of Gil.
    • 77' Fabinho tries to see if he can conjure an equaliser from distance, but Alves grabs that.
    • 75' And then Echiejile tries to give his keeper a bit more to fret about, tripping over the ball and nudging it towards the goal, but Subasic's frayed nerves are still intact enough for him to collect.
    • 74' Looks like Subasic is panicking a little now. Again, the shot comes in, and it's going well wide anyway, but he makes sure that he waves his hands promptly in the direction of Vezo's rather soft shot.
    • 73' Monaco's defending is a shambles. No idea what Subasic was doing, but after gathering a shot that was not that vicious, he concedes a corner.
    • 72' And here's the substitution everyone's been waiting for! It's Falcao, who'll get just under 20 minutes as he replaces Berbatov, who is bade farewell with a chorus of booing and whistling - an elegant reception, however, for Falcao, who is cheered as he runs on. Nicely done. Raggi replaces Carvalho, but that's probably not as exciting.
    • 70' More substitutions. Guardado and Carlos Gil for Parejo and Andre Gomes.
    • 69' GOAL! Valencia draw attention straight back to the pitch. Great run from Cissokho and Paco Alcocer doesn't have to try too hard to tap home.
    • 68' The crowd, of course, are mostly Arsenal fans, and the team news there is just breaking...
    • 66' Bullet header from Germain, but with no direction - wide of Alves's post.
    • 65' As the stands fill up, the reaction from the crowd is also improving, which one hopes will improve the atmosphere here.
    • 62' If that substitute break idea is supposed to save time, it really doesn't.
    • 60' Substitution break! Alcacer and Ibanez replace Rodrigo and Rodrigo de Paul; Ocampos, Dirar and Echiejile replace Martial, Toulalan and Kurzawa.
    • 59' The captains clash as Germain grabs at Parejo and gives away a free kick.
    • 58' The crowd are beginning to filter in now, Arsenal fans preparing to see their new-look side in about an hour.
    • 57' A textbook catch from Alves, taking possession of an unthreatening Moutinho free kick.
    • 56' But that means there's nobody in the box for Monaco when they try to attack on the break. Simple header to clear.
    • 54' Indeed, he's side-galloping down the touchline as Monaco pack their defence to thwart Valencia some more.
    • 53' And as I say that, Martial has Alves beaten, but it whistles past his right-hand post.
    • 50' More good work from Rodrigo, but his colleagues aren't helping him out at the moment - the shooting has been largely on target but in general directly at the goalkeepers.
    • 49' Abdennour grimaces as referee Michael Oliver scolds him for a clumsy challenge. No booking though.
    • 48' Valencia on the attack, with Rodrigo continuing to press. Monaco's defence are keeping rather square but it's working for them at the moment.
    • 46' Kicking off the second half, then, and still a little quiet at the stadium. It would remind me a bit of a reserve game if it wasn't for the little buzzing undercurrent you get a whisper of every so often.
    • 45' Substitution break! Piatto on for Feghouli on the Valencia side of things, Ferreira Carrasco for Kondogbia for Monaco.
    • 45'+1 That's half-time. Equal pickings and equal own goals in the Emirates Cup so far in this entertaining but very definitely pre-season first half.
    • 45' Up the other end, Moutinho shoots directly at Alves from the edge of the box, and it's simply smothered.
    • - Rodrigo isn't giving up quite so easily, floating in a cross towards the far post, but Fabinho heads that neatly back to Subasic.
    • 44' A quiet conclusion to the half now, with Monaco reversing the pattern of the opening minutes, happily keeping possession in the middle.
    • 43' Feghouli is muscled out of it as he tries to create something down the flank.
    • 41' Play is stopped briefly as Moutinho takes the sharp point of Otamendi's elbow to his face.
    • 40' Berbatov gives away a free kick, leaning on the defender in the box. He seems nonplussed.
    • - GOAL! It's an equalising own goal from Carvalho, who's diving in desperately after Martial is caught out on the right.
    • 37' Rodrigo dribbles his way through, round the goalkeeper, and then shoots, but it's cleared off the line.
    • 36' Parejo gets his ankles clipped - free kick for Valencia.
    • 34' Valencia are clawing their way back into it, with Cissokho racing down the left and putting in a low, hard cross which Subasic gathers.
    • 33' Alves manages to get his hands on this one.
    • 32' Monaco are reinvigorated by that goal. Corner to them - let's see if they can do better from the left side, and let's see if Valencia can defend it any better.
    • 32' The bluntness of that Valencia official tweet indicates that they know precisely where the blame should be placed.
    • 30' Well, I think we can say that was probably against the run of play, but everyone in that Valencia defence should have done better. There were two men on the posts as well as Alves in the middle, and Abdennour didn't seem to make much contact with the corner as it swung in.
    • 29' GOAL! Moutinho takes it and Abdennour bundles it in with the aid of a deflection.
    • 28' Martial tries a little run down the left, and gets as far as the box before running into trouble. Corner to Monaco.
    • 26' Feghouli finds himself in acres of space as the Monaco defence stand off him. He opts to turn and strike rather than play in a team-mate, but it's off target.
    • 25' Kondogbia lines up a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but it's deflected out for a corner from the left once more.
    • 24' Monaco are getting into this more now.
    • 23' Falcao-cam - he's watching intently and resting his chin on his hand.
    • 22' A shot for Germain, who can't direct his attempted curl into the net.
    • 21' Free kick to Valencia in the centre circle, and they use it as an excuse simply to retain midfield possession a little more.
    • 20' A long and hopeful ball forward, but it's right through to Alves, and time for Valencia to pass their way into attack now.
    • 19' Another corner to Monaco, from the same side and the same player, and Alves punches it away.
    • 18' Corner to Monaco, taken by Kurzawa, but it comes to nothing.
    • 17' Berbatov is given far too much space, and eventually opts to control the ball with his posterior. Germain can't do anything with the cross, though.
    • 15' Rodrigo is certainly a tricksy player, and his guile and pace are likely to cause problems this afternoon.
    • 13' Some lovely play from Rodrigo and some confusion from Carvalho carves out a chance for Feghouli, who heads right at the keeper.
    • 12' The crowd have lost interest in booing Berbatov, who's working hard to claim possession in the centre.
    • 9' Subasic struggles to claim the ball from a corner, and if Valencia were thinking straight, they'd have been attacking that. He finally gets his gloves round it.
    • 7' Chance for Valencia, but Rodrigo de Paul's shot is always flying over the bar.
    • 6' Germain is offside after the Valencia backline push up cleverly and promptly. Do players get their teams points deducted for being offside? They should.
    • 5' Moutinho takes a rather limp free kick, which just about makes it into the box but is cleared easily.
    • 4' It's subdued in the stadium, and very much sounds like a friendly at the moment as the players' shouts echo.
    • 3' Valencia tap it about at the back, keeping patient possession.
    • 2' Scrappy so far as both teams settle in; Monaco are harrying Valencia down quickly and closely.
    • 1' Berbatov receives the ball on the left, and is booed roundly.
    • 14:01 Valencia kick off the match and the tournament.

    • 13:58
    • 13:55 A large scattering of fans in the Emirates Stadium, ready to watch this opening match. The teams are in the tunnel and ready to file out with the traditional line of small children.
    • 13:50 Well, Falcao has made it through the warm-ups perfectly safely - fingers crossed for a second-half cameo?
    • 13:45 Oh, a quick recap of some more of the rules - seven of the 11 subs can be used, but there can only be three stoppages made to use all those replacements. Fundamentally and theoretically we should see lots of the ball in play and lots of shots.
    • 13:40
    • 13:40 Arsenal fans might be excited to get a glimpse of Alexis Sanchez's shirt (and will be even more excited to see him wearing it later), but football fans the world over will be gleeful at this next sight...

    • 13:40
    • 13:35 It's also been fairly busy on the trains towards N7 today as well, so there could well be a decent crowd over the course of the weekend.
    • 13:30 From my vantage point in north-west London, I can report that the sun is shining - the occasional cloud, and not so hot as it has been for the rest of the week, but generally a pleasant afternoon, and perfect for pre-season.

    • 13:10 TEAMS: Valencia: Alves, Vezo, Feghouli, Rodrigo, Fuego, Barragan, Rodrigo De Paul, Parejo (c), Cissokho, Andre Gomes, Otamendi // Monaco: Subasic, Fabinho, Kurzawa, Abdennour, Carvalho, Moutinho, Berbatov, Germain (c), Kondogbia, Martial, Toulalan.
    • 13:10 I've just been taking a quick look at the Emirates Cup Wikipedia page, and it proudly boasts that Arsenal are the most successful team in the tournament's history. Might be something to do with the fact that they've been in it every year since its inception in 2007 (although there was a break in 2012), what with them hosting it - the only other side who have been in it more than once is PSG, who've been in it three times.
    • 13:05 I should probably point this out now before we all get thoroughly confused - although there are three points for a win and one for a draw, the Emirates Cup brags that it wishes to reward attacking play. What does that mean in practice? Apparently one point for each goal scored - and shots on target to be taken into account should points and goal difference be equal at the end of tomorrow's matches.
    • 13:00 Good afternoon, all, and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Valencia v Monaco as part of the Emirates Cup. For those of you who aren't au fait with fancy pre-season friendlies, this is a one-weekend, four-team tournament, hosted at the Emirates Stadium (hence the name, you see), and also features Arsenal and Benfica (who are playing later today - and I'll be covering that for you as well).
