    Time:90'
    • Italy
    • Netherlands
    • FT And that is full time!
    • 90+2 I think all 21 players on the pitch just want this to end now. Very slow possession play in the midfield to finish this game off.
    • 90+1 A strong-ish finish from Holland as they put themselves about a bit more up front but Italy really do look comfortable.
    • 90' Fer wins a header against Bonucci but the flick finds only Kuyt who is forced to go backwards again.
    • 89' Parolo attempts a long raking ball through the middle for Giovinco but Cillessen is out to gather with ease. He plays it long to Kuyt but the veteran forward is offside.
    • 88' Blind attempts a long ball to Narsingh in behind but he only finds Bonucci who can head clear with ease.
    • 87' A poor pass from Giovinco finds Pieters. A poor pass from Pieters only finds Astori. This game is petering out...
    • 86' Wijnaldum comes off for Fer.
    • 85' Hate to repeat mself but it really is possession possession possession for Holland without going anywhere. An ambitious first time ball to the left from Blind goes out of play.
    • 84' Wijnaldum now with some careless play in the middle. Giovinco again almost dispossesses him but the Dutchman manages to rescue the situation and get the ball back to Cillessen.
    • 83' Narsingh finally enters for the Dutch as Kuyt makes way.
    • 82' Loose play from Blind on the edge of the area and Giovinco is almost played in by Destro but Holland manage to clear.
    • 81' Holland with the ball but it has been the story of their game. A bit of possession ends up with the keeper who is forced to go long and Italy get it back.
    • 80' Superb cross from Pasqual who whips it in to the middle. Cillessen comes into no mans land and Destro gets his head on it but gets underneath it and the ball flies over the cross bar. Conte is delighted with the football though.
    • 79' Bonucci gives away a free kick after a hefty challenge on Van Persie on the half way line. Appears to have hurt his own back in doing it.
    • 78' Italy's back three are under so little pressure Astori can mishead a ball and then Bonucci can walk over and Cruyff-turn to get the ball moving in the right direction again.
    • 77' Immobile coming off now for Giovinco.
    • 76' Good run from Candreva down the right but he is stopped by Blind. Italy retain possession though and now come down the left with Pasqual. A huge switch back over to Candreva is just too long though.
    • 75' Gregory Van Der Wiel has entered the frey for Janmaat at right back.
    • 74' Rhythm of the game affected now. Rannochia is dispossessed by Sneijder but a foul from Verratti to stop the break draws a yellow card for the young Italian.
    • 73' Darmian and Zaza come off for Destro and Candreva.
    • 72' Immobile involved in a scrap with Veltman. The Dutchman thinks he was elbowed but the ref just gives the pair a talking to. Looks like play acting from the central defender.
    • 71' Pasqual on for De Sciglio
    • 70' Holland with a free kick wide right which Sneijder takes but can't get it past the first man. Verratti breaks down the right but is bundled over by Blind.
    • 69' Free kick from distance which Bonucci strikes. He gets it all wrong though and slashes it well over the cross bar.
    • 68' De Rossi makes way for Parolo.
    • 67' ALMOST! Cillessen tries an ill-advised drag back as Immobile closed him down. He is lucky the striker dangled a leg and caught him or his slip could have been very costly!
    • 66' Pieters comes on for De Jong. Blind to central midfield.
    • 65' Darmian knocks it inside to Immobile who tries a little through ball to Zaza but he is caught on his heels and Veltman can step in to clear.
    • 64' Scrappy from Holland who are forced into some head tennis in the middle of the park only for Immobile to win the ball back.
    • 63' First change as Verratti comes on for Marchisio who has put a shift in.
    • 62' Dutch possession now and it is Italy's turn to chase the ball. They go all the way back to Cillessen who is forced to go long.
    • 61' An arrowed long ball to Van Persie in behind almost finds its mark but Sirigu is out quickly to collect. He distributes quickly and Italy are on the attack again.
    • 60' The Dutch with the ball now but again going nowhere as Italy utilise the extra man well to close down.
    • 59' Zaza with a long distance shot but Cillessen saves easily again.
    • 58' Van Persie offside this time as Sneijder heads the ball on. In fact it was Kuyt offside frm the long ball. and another Dutch attack comes to nothing.
    • 57' Immobile thinking De jong kneed him in the head deliberately. No chance. It was an accident.
    • 56' Bonucci from distance! He almost catches Cillessen asleep but the keeper gets back to clutch the ball before it rattles into the top corner from 40 yards.
    • 55' Holland with the ball now but again going nowhere. A long ball up to Van Persie sees him handle it to bring it down. Free kick given and Italy are back with the ball.
    • 54' Zaza lays a lovel volley into Immobile on the left wing. He attempts to get past Veltman and into the box but the Dutch defender does well to tackle for a corner which comes to nothing.
    • 53' More Italy possession. Pattern of the half is set I think. They're just popping it about coolly, using the extra man.
    • 52' Van Persie holds the ball up well and spreads it to De Jong. He gives it to Sneijder who attempts one from 40 yards. He hits it well enough but Sirigu has everything behind it to save.
    • 51' Italy probing but not moving forward too quickly. Plenty ahead of the ball but a lack of urgency so far in this half.
    • 49' MISS! Van Persie suddenly finds himself in after a quick header from Blind into his path. On his left foot he strikes low but it flies past the post. Bad miss.
    • 48' Italy now with it. De Rossi is absolutely bossing it from deep in mifield. Zaza works some space on the left side of the box but his low shot hits the side netting.
    • 47' Holland so far with all the ball. Not going anywhere with it, but they've retained possession well.
    • 46' The teams are back out. I have a feeling this second half could be a bit of a procession for Italy. The Dutch playing for pride now.
    • HT And that is half time! It's been all Italy.
    • 45+1 Italy again just playing possession stuff here. Waiting for the half-time whistle. Holland have lookd ready for it since the red card...
    • 45' More beautiful football from Italy as Zaza lays it off to Marchisio who almost plays in Immobile on the inside left channel but Veltman does well to step up as the last man and play him offside.
    • 44' De Rossi lays it inside to Marchisio and he attempts a no-look pass to Immobile into the box but he overcooks it and it runs out for a goal kick.
    • 43' De Rossi with a lovely switch out to De Sciglio. He could take it down and cross but he opts to go backwards and Sneijder wins it back. He releases Kuyt down the right be he doesn't have the pace to get away and De Sciglio makes a 40-yard dash to get the ball back. Great defending. Conte looks delighted.
    • 42' Italy looking very comfortable now. Just stroking the ball about at the moment. Looks like they're ready for a well-earned half-time break!
    • 41' De Rossi tries a one-two with Zaza in the middle of the pitch but De Jong does brilliantly to slide from behind and hook the ball away from De Rossi before he can take a touch and get a shot away.
    • 39' Calm play from Italy. Only De Rossi and the back three have touched it so far. Darmian gets in behind though from another De Rossi raking pass. Cillessen gathers the low cross though.
    • 38' Lovely from Zaza as he steps over a pass to him and spins in behind with Immobile able to lay him in. His pace isn't enough to get away from De Vrij though and the defender gets a clearing tackle in.
    • 37' Nice low ball across the box by Blind but he finds nobody as they've all run ahead of the ball. Italy clear.
    • 36' Poor control from Zaza on the right wing not once but twice allows Blind the ball. Whatever Conte told him just moments before, clearly hasn't worked.
    • 35' Antonio Conte giving his players some animated instructions as De Rossi gets treatment from a kick to the head by Ranocchia of all people...
    • 34' Marchisio does well to rob Blind and set up another Italy attack. He switches it out to De Sciglio on the left but he comes back inside and the Dutch are back in numbers.
    • 33' Holland back with the ball but going nowhere with it as yet. Back to Cillessen it goes.
    • 32' De Rossi with yet another of those passes. He tries to find Immobile spinning in behind but Cillessen is alive to it and comes out to gather.
    • 31' Chance! Lovely ball from De Sciglio into Zaza who chests the ball into the penalty area for Immobile but his volley flies over the crossbar. Lovely football.
    • 30' And Italy start again with Bonucci who gives it to De Rossi. He just calmly strokes the ball about.
    • 29' Italy back with the ball for their first bit of controlled possession since the red card. Ranocchia srides forward abd finds Zaza who lays back to De Rossi. He tries one of those quarterback passes but this time Blind reads it and clears.
    • 28' The ball comes in but Sirigu is up to collect for his first touch of the ball I think...
    • 27' De Rossi fouls Van Persie and Holland get a free kick which they won a corner off.
    • 26' Scrappy period of play as Holland retain the ball.
    • 25' Holland have slowed the game entirely now. Italy not getting near the ball.
    • 24' De Jong spreads it wide to Janmaat but he gives it away to De Rossi in the middle. He tries to hit Zaza straight away but De Vrij heads away.
    • 23' Surprisingly since going down to ten men, Holland have bounced back really well and have dominated much of the ball. Italy are pressing hard though and have created the chances.
    • 22' Darmian breaks down the right and wins a corner off Blind. Marchisio meanwhile is not happy about a late De Jong tackle. Didn't look too bad on the replay. The corner comes to nothing.
    • 20' SAVE! Side to side, side to side the ball goes as Holland retain possession. Immobile suddenly breaks down the left wing before laying in Zaza one-on-one but his finish is tame and Cillessen can save a certain goal.
    • 19' Holland have really settled well now. They're moving the ball about much better as De Vrij comes out of defence. He strides into the Italy half but is forced backwards as De Rossi closes.
    • 18' Marchisio does well to close down and win back the ball but his pass to Immobile forces th striker backwards. He then tries an ambitious ball over the top for Zaza but it is far too long and Veltman can clear up.
    • 17' More Holland possession this time Wijnaldum who plays it forward to Van Persie. His lay off is a bit heavy and Darmian is able to clear.
    • 16' Injection of pace as De Jong races down the right but a poor pass from him sees Italy back with it. Blind then picks up the pieces on the left and wins a throw which he akes backwards.
    • 15' De Jong brings some calm to Holland. Sneijder comes to collect it but he has no options in front as is forced sideways to Janmaat.
    • 14' Italy in full control here. Holland have barely touched it since the red card. De Sciglio on the left now comes back and plays it to De Rossi to start another attack.
    • 13' Italy in full control here as Van Persie is robbed before they control the ball in the middle of the park. A long ball from Marchisio goes long though and it is a goal kick.
    • 12' And here it is as Veltman comes on for Lens.
    • 11' Holland look shellshocked. It looks like De Jong has dropped in to centre back and there are only two midfielders for Holland in the middle. A sub is being readied.
    • 10' GOAL! De Rossi steps up confidently and passes the ball into the bottom left. Cillessen went the wrong way. This game looks over already!
    • 9' PENALTY AND A RED! Zaza uses his body well to get onto another through ball from De Rossi. Martins Indi trips him as he gets in on goal and a penalty is given. Last man gets the red. Harsh in a friendly though!
    • 8' Chance for Holland as Wijnaldum gets behind the Italian defence on the left. He cuts the ball back to Sneijder on the edge of the area. He shapes to bend it right footed into the top corner but gets too much on it and it goes over.
    • 7' Sneijder holds off De Rossi well and lays it to Kuyt but his pass backwards slows the attack and Italy look comfortable in their shape.
    • 6' Darmian gets in down the right wing from another beautiful long range pass from De Rossi. His cross almost finds Zaza at the near ost but Martins Indi does well to get a toe in first.
    • 5' A poor lay off from Wijnaldum as Darmian applies pressure on the left wing sees Italy back with the ball. Definitel startd the more aggressive of the two sides.
    • 4' Holland with the ball. They look happy in possession but when Italy apply the squeeze, they get shaky.
    • 3' GOAL! De Rossi plays a ping of a ball over the top of the Dutch defence to Immobile who rounds the goalkeeper and slots home into an empty net. Lovely goal!
    • 2' Holland start well controlling possession. Italy are pressing high but can't get the ball off them. Eventually a poor pass from Cillessen sees Italy back with the ball in the middle.
    • 1' And we're underway here at San Nicola. Can Antonio Conte give this 50,000 crowd the start the Italian fans will want to this new era!? The Azzurri kick us off.
    • 19:40 Just five minutes until kick-off now. Italy and Netherlands have played each other 18 times in history with the Dutch coming out on top just three times. Despite this, the Netherlands are unbeaten in their last three games, winning in 2008 and drawing the two games since then in 2009 and 2013. Both sides will want to start their new ears with a win - but only one team can do it! Who will it be? Stick around to find out.
    • 19:35 Feyenoord have a strong presence in this Dutch squad tonight. Shame they couldn't keep the players together at the club. Finances rule all apparently.
    • 19:30 Should Hiddink be nervous about his second stint as Netherlands boss? Probably not. Here's what Sneijder had to say about him: "I have never worked with Hiddink before but everyone loves him and I had heard good things about him. People I tend to get on with, he's a bit softer than van Gaal. I think he will change things in the team, especially against Italy, because some important players aren't available and some are still short of fitness."
    • 19:25 Conte's comments before his first ever match as Italy boss were very strong indeed: "I expect to see people starting to understand the ideas of the football I want. We want to delight the Italian fans and you can rest assured that my players will leave the field with their shirts covered in sweat after 95 minutes. I've seen a very positive atmosphere these days. There's a great feeling of responsibility and we want to be an example. It takes something special to be a winner and we hope to be special straight away."
    • 19:20 Hiddink hands Sneijder his 106th cap to take him to fourth in the all-time Dutch capped players list. He is now just six behind leader of that list Frank De Boer. Apart from Jermain Lens up front and no Ron Vlaar at the back, the line-up doesn't look much different from the one that took to the field in Brazil. Robben is missing while De Vrij and Martins Indi are trusted to keep the shop shut at the back. Manchester United new-boy Daley Blind starts at left back.

    • 19:15 Conte has decided to go with a prety new-look starting line-up. Goalkeeping legend Buffon is replaced in goal by Sirigu, though apparently we shouldn't read too much into that. Chiellini loses out to Astori in the back three while Giaccherini, who missed the World Cup, is back in the starting line-up. Talisman Mario Balotelli was left out of the squad so Sassuolo striker Zaza will get his first cap starting alongside Immobile up top. De Rossi captains. No Pirlo though... poor spectators.
    • 19:10 The interesting news is not necessarily who is starting but which formations Guus Hiddink and Antonio Conte have chosen in their first game in their resective nations' new era. Conte has chosen to adopt the 3-5-2 system which the Dutch so effectively made their own at the World Cup. While Hiddink has reverted to a 4-3-3 which served Italy so badly during their World Cup campaign.
