    • - What did you make the of the game? Did Swindon deserve to win? Was the late penalty award harsh on the home side? Let me know on Twiter (@grahamruthven).
    • - What an incredible end to the match! Swindon looked to be taking a slim lead into the second leg but a penalty in the final minute of stoppage time has denied the Robins. A tale of penalties for Brentford, once again. This one a much happier tale for them, of course.
    • 95' FULL TIME: Swindon Town 1-1 Brentford
    • 94' Sensational! Luongo, the Swindon scorer, brings down Forrester in the box and O'Connor sweeps home the penalty to level the score.
    • 93' GOAL! Swindon Town 1-1 Brentford (93 mins - Kevin O'Connor).
    • 93' PENALTY TO BRENTFORD!
    • 92' Just a minute of added time to be played and Swindon are holding on a little here.
    • 91' Luongo knocks the ball into the Brentford half and the visitors will come back at Swindon.
    • 90' Three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the second half.
    • 89' Luongo breaks forward but can't direct his shot on target and the ball flies over the bar.
    • 88' Now it's Swindon's turn to slow the play down, with Brentford complaining that the hosts are time-wasting.
    • 87' Brentford seem to have weathered the Swindon storm and are committing bodies forward. Rosler's side isn't settled for a 1-0 defeat.
    • 85' Dean heads over from Forrester's corner as Brentford push for a leveller.
    • 84' El Alagui jinks his way through the Swindon backline but McCormack comes across and throws himself in front of the shot. The home crowd greeted that challenge with a hearty roar!
    • 83' That change makes sense for Swindon. By bringing on Collins they've called on their top scorer.
    • 82' Swindon sub: Simon Ferry OFF, James Collins ON.
    • 81' Brentford sub: Adam Forshaw OFF, Sam Saunders ON.
    • 80' Swindon are really putting the pressure on Brentford now, landing crosses and long balls on top of Moore. The Brentford keeper is dealing with it very well, though.
    • 78' Replays show that Brentford were very lucky not to concede a penalty a few minutes ago. El Alagui was all over the back of Flint in the box.
    • 77' Brentford sub: Lee Hodson OFF, Harry Forrester ON.
    • 76' It might not be very pretty but this is play-off football!
    • 75' It's all getting a bit heated now. Another claim for a spot kick is turned down after El Alagui looked to climb on top of a Swindon attacker.
    • 74' Rooney is played through on goal with the Brentford defence missing but with the angle closing Moore charges down the shot.
    • 73' Good chance for Rooney after a deep freekick is worked into the danger area. Swindon claim a penalty should be given for O'Connor using his arm but the referee continues with play.
    • 71' Rosler is urging his team up the pitch as they get pegged further back by Swindon who are in control of this tie now.
    • 70' Great strike by Luongo who virtually passed the ball into the net from the edge of the box. He used the Brentford defender as a screen to guide his right-footed effort into the net.
    • 69' GOAL! Swindon Town 1-0 Brentford (69 mins - Massimo Luongo). Stunning opening goal from the on loan Spurs man.
    • 68' El Alagui comes on for Brentford to provide a more dynamic threat up front. He scored 28 goals for Falkirk in Scotland last season.
    • 67' Brentford sub: Bradley Wright-Phillips OFF, Farid El Alagui ON.
    • 66' Donaldson tries to get away from three Swindon defenders but is dispossessed. The servive up to the Brentford frontman has been sparse.
    • 65' Luongo almost slips Rooney through on goal but Bidwell does well to defend and clear the danger for a throw-in.
    • 64' Ward completely miskicks his clearance high into the air under pressure, forcing teammate Flint to deal with it. In fairness, the Swindon centre-back did well to head it away.
    • 62' Just over an hour gone at the County Ground and still no sign of a breakthrough. Although the intensity is cranking up.
    • 61' Replays show that Flint certainly did use his arm in stopping Wright-Phillips' through ball but the incident took place a good yard outside the box.
    • 60' Wright-Phllips sees claims for a penalty kick turned down after Flint appeared to use his arm as the ball was played off him.
    • 59' Rooney tries to get on the end of McCormack's cross into the box but he bundles into Moore and a freekick is awarded Brentford's way.
    • 58' The hosts continue to peg Brentford back with possession in and around the penalty area.
    • 57' Rooney tries to flick the ball goalwards after a pacy cross is fired into the box but his effort drifts wide.
    • 56' Swindon are starting the turn the screw here, keeping the Brentford backline under pressure, but they're struggling to create any real goalscoring opportunities.
    • 55' Roberts plays a wonderful cross into Rooney but the bounce takes it away from the Swindon striker.
    • 54' Logan tries to knock the ball past Luongo and both players hit the deck. The linesman awards the freekick to Brentford and the referee gives it Swindon's way.
    • 52' Brentford have a very physical back four and are dealing with any long balls Swindon throw at them.
    • 51' Logan puts a good cross into the box but Swindon deal with it well.
    • 50' Wright-Phillips tries to play through Donaldson but his pass is intercepted and the chance on the counter-attack is gone.
    • 48' Swindon look to be playing the ball on the ground a lot more since the restart. Might be a wise strategy considering the wind.
    • 47' Dean gets very close to Williams again. Maybe a little too close this time. The Brentford centre-back looked to have a hold of Williams.
    • 46' Devera plays the ball into the box where Rooney takes a touch past his marker but blasts his shot at the charged Brentford defender.
    • 45' Swindon get the second half under way!
    • - What have you made of the first half? Let me know on Twiter (@grahamruthven).
    • - A frantic first half at the County Ground, but very little quality on show so far. The clearest chance by far fell to Forshaw who should've found the net but on the whole Swindon have edged the opening 45 minutes.
    • 46' HALF TIME: Swindon Town 0-0 Brentford
    • 45' YELLOW CARD: Gary Roberts (Swindon)
    • 45' Just a minute of stoppage time to be played at the end of the first half.
    • 43' Just to demonstrate how strong the wind is, Dean's clearance has just been launched over the main stand and carried out the ground. New balls please.
    • 42' Luongo plays a really deep ball into the box, which is kept alive by Williams who heads the ball straight up on top of the keeper, but Moore gets up well to claim it.
    • 41' Just a handful of minutes until half-time and both teams are still struggling to settle and find their groove. Only one shot between them says it all.
    • 40' Brentford try to work a move forward but Donaldson is called offside.
    • 39' Luongo plays a long ball forward for Williams but this time Moore and Dean communicate better and the Brentford keeper collects with ease.
    • 37' Brentford top off a better spell of pressure with an effort on goal but Douglas' side-footed shot drifts over the bar.
    • 36' Jake Bidwell tries to get the better of Devera on the right wing but he's forced to settle for a throw-in.
    • 35' Douglas' passing is all over the place! Once again, he plays a relatively simple pass out of touch. Donaldson looks round at him disapprovingly.
    • 34' Roberts whips a wonderful left-footed delivery into the box which finds Williams unmarked six yards out but he heads his effort into the ground and Moore saves. Good chance. Mistimed his jump a little.
    • 33' Jonathan Douglas picks up the ball in the centre of midfield but passes it straight out play. That kind of sums up the performance of both teams' midfields today.
    • 32' Ward plays another long freekick from the back forwad but the ball drifts out of play after being carried by the wind.
    • 30' The strong wind is really spoiling this as a spectacle. Both teams resorting to the long ball too quickly.
    • 29' This game's getting lively now, mostly thanks to the developing duel between Rooney and Dean.
    • 28' Swindon have another corner but this one is played short. Different approach, same result. It's cleared by the Brentford backline.
    • 27' Dean looks to bring down Rooney as the Swindon striker charges down Moore, but the referee decides there was nothing wrong with the challenge.
    • 26' On second viewing, that save by Moore from Rooney was magnificent. Totally read the situation and pulled off a great diving save from close range.
    • 25' And now it's Swindon's turn to pass up a glorious chance in front of goal but Rooney sees his shot smothered by Moore as he rushed off his line.
    • 24' Stats show that Swindon have enjoyed more than 70 per cent of the possession in these last ten minutes. And we all know stats never lie.
    • 23' All of a sudden, this game bursts into life with both sides coming close to breaking the deadlock. Forshaw should really have put Brentford ahead.
    • 22' Great chance for Forshaw as he's released through one-on-one with Foderingham but the Bentford midfielder drags his shot past the post. Golden opportunity.
    • 20' First real bit of quality of the match, as Roberts fires a left-footed strike from 25 yards towards goal. A tiny deflection off a Brentford defender is enough to take it over.
    • 19' Moore comes a long way to clear a long ball played forward to Williams, but Dean gets in his keeper's way and between the two of them, a corner is conceded.
    • 18' And another corner. Same result. Again.
    • 17' Another Swindon corner is flung into the box but once again, it's cleared.
    • 16' Lee Hodson swings a delivery into the Swindon box but it's too heavy and Foderingham has a simple task of picking it up.
    • 15' Swindon are unbeaten in their last five home games and slowly but surely they're starting to take a little bit more control of this game.
    • 14' As I predicted earlier, Wright-Phillips is dropping off the frontline and into midfield. Perhaps Swindon would be better served using the wings more.
    • 13' Both sides have had a series of freekicks and corners but they're struggling to get any sort of goalward touch on the set-pieces.
    • 11' Dean tries to shephard the ball out of play but instead concedes possession and brings down Andy Williams. The resulting freekick is overhit and goes for a Brentford by-kick.
    • 10' Roberts' corner kick delivery is put right on top of the Brentford keeper where the giant Swindon defender Aden Flint is lurking, but it's headed away.
    • 9' Not a lot of quality on show so far, from either team. Swindon and Brentford can certainly play better than this.
    • 8' There's not a lot of time and space for either side in the centre of the pitch. It's very congested in there.
    • 7' Darren Ward lumps a long freekick forward from the back, trying to find Rooney, but it's cleared by Harlee Dean.
    • 6' Wright-Phillips picks up the ball in the centre of the pitch but as he turns and looks to move forward he's dispossessed.
    • 5' Wes Foderingham fists away the corner-kick delivery and the immediate danger is gone.
    • 4' Brentford have a freekick lined up 25 yards out. Adam Forshaw aims it into the box but it's chested behind by Joe Devera.
    • 3' It's loud at the County Ground but the biggest roar goes up when the referee takes a tumble. Some things never change.
    • 2' Adam Rooney also had a half-chance in the opening minute but he decided to shoot on goal when he perhaps should've crossed. His effort was blocked.
    • 1' Swindon make a fast start, surging forward on the left wing, but the cross from Nathan Byrne is easy for Simon Moore to collect.
    • 1' Brentford, playing in all-black, get the match under way!
    • 17:19 Looks like both teams will line-up in a 4-4-2 although I expect Bradley Wright-Philips to drop off Clayton Donaldson for Brentford.
    • 17:18 Just minutes until kick-off at the County Ground. Who'll come out on top? The team that finished sixth in League One or the team that finished third?
    • 17:15 Let's see what the stats say. Swindon have won more than 80 per cent of their total first-leg fixtures in the play-offs. Overall, the Robins have played six, won five, drawn none an lost just one. As for Brentford, they've never made it through the play-offs in six attempts.
    • 17:10 TEAM NEWS: Swindon - Foderingham; Devera, Ward, Flint, Byrne; Ferry, McCormack, Luongo, Roberts; Rooney, Williams. /// Brentford - Moore; Logan, Dean, O'Connor, Bidwell; Hodson, Adeyemi, Douglas, Forshaw, Wright-Phillips; Donaldson.
    • 17:05 Swindon are boosted by the return of midfielders Simon Ferry and Alan Navarro from hamstring injuries. Full team news to follow.
    • 17:00 Swindon scored 44 goals at home during the regular season - the most of any League One team - with James Collins the Robins' top scorer on 18 goals. They will be a threat to the Brentford goal, that's for sure.
    • 16:55 Brentford missed out on automatic promotion to the Championship in agonising fashion (we've all seen that missed penalty and subsequent counter-attack winner by now) but Uwe Rosler's men will be looking to bounce back in the play-offs.

  1. A foul and then a handball by Douglas in the play leading up to the challenge (which was a penalty) meant that the Brentford penalty should never have been given. Swindon were denied two clearcut penalties, one from a blatant handball on the edge of the six yard box that diverted the ball away from the striker's attempted volley. But that's the level of refereeing that you get at League One level, i.e. poor.
