  1. Great game and a great comeback from a couple of awful decisions by the ref: their 'penalty' wasn't and didn't give us a stone-dead penalty. the sending-off obviously made a difference but we played some great football and 10 men are often harder to play against than 11 as they tend to sit deep and absorb pressure. The midfield gave the ball away too easily at times, but the Pope and Ben Williamson took their goals well. Chris Neal deserved the Man of the Match award for his contribution over the past few games. Good to see Gareth back at Vale Park and to see the reception he got. Pity his team couldn't play the way he did; their attitude wasn't good and, apart from a couple of flashes of individual skill, they showed why they are where they are.

  3. What a win. Saw they were 1-0 down on Sky Sports and have been watching their progress on BT Yahoo Sports page. Couldn't believe it when all those goals went in. They were great on Monday against Oxford Utd ,watched on TV. They played better than England on Wednesday. Used to go to all the matches in the 50s early 60s but now live in Bournemouth. Perhaps it's time to move back. Up the Vale Geoffers

  4. I'll wait for the ink to dry on the contract before celebrating the new owner; we;ve been let down before, but the team is playing some good football and the Pope is in superb form. Playing four attackers makes for exciting games, but leaves the midfield exposed, particularly a problem when the middle of the back four is not exactly quick on its feet. Hopefully Burge's injury isn't too serious as he provides some substance in midfield that Shuker doesn't. Saturday should produce 3 points and the chance to welcome Gareth back to Vale Park. TWOY!

  6. Right with you Bernard, tho the team includes the backroom staff as well as those on the pitch. If we can keep the squad we've got and strengthen it in a couple of positions - ballwinner in midfield, a specialist left back and a mobile centreback - and keep Micky, promotion has to be on the cards. All that, the possibility of a Johnstone's Paint Trophy run and a potential buyer! TWOY
