    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this match, along with every Premier League game, from 00:01 on Monday morning (UK only).
    • 90+4' There's the final whistle, and it ends goalless. A point the least Sunderland deserve - United still looking for their first away win.
    • 90+3' Last chance for Sunderland with a corner from the right... there's an almighty scramble in the middle but Anderson eventually ushers it to safety!
    • 90+3' Fletcher plays it to the back post, where it is headed across goal for VIDIC!! His powerful header is blocked.
    • 90+2' Turner chops Berbatov 40 yards from goal and this could be a chance for United to nick a late winner.
    • 90+1' Elmohamady crosses from the right towards Bent, who dives for the header but cannot direct it towards goal. Tough chance.
    • 90' Three minutes of stoppage time to be played.
    • 89' Bebe runs down a blind alley but then wins a throw off Onuoha.. Nani crosses for Berbatov, who cannot knock it down to a team-mate.
    • 88' Andy Reid crosses towards Gyan but it is over him and O'Shea clears.
    • 87' Vidic has a boot problem, and gestures to the United bench who quickly rustle up a replacement.
    • 86' Quick feet from Hernandez at the edge of the box to swerve away from Cattermole, but he shoots off target from the edge of the box.
    • 85' Good tackle by Onuoha to dispossess Nani as he cuts inside from the left.
    • 84' Gyan!! Nearly scores a spectacular winner with an overhead kick from 12 yards, but Van der Sar catches it.
    • 84' Neat interplay between Berbatov and Hernandez... but the Bulgarian takes a heavy touch and it goes through to Mignolet.
    • 83' Malbranque gets a tremendous ovation as he comes off to be replaced by Asamoah Gyan. And Andy Reid replaces Zenden.
    • 82' Bebe had a brief run-out in the Carling Cup last week and looked OK - certainly better than we'd been led to believe.
    • 81' BERBATOV!! He is played through by Hernandez and hits a powerful shot but drags it a foot or so wide of the left-hand post!
    • 80' Bebe makes his Premier League debut, coming on for Anderson.
    • 79' Zenden protests that he should have had a penalty and is clearly still annoyed when he barrels into Nani...
    • 78' Berbatov crosses low from the left, but it is too close to Mignolet who snaffles it up.
    • 77' Nani hits a dipping shot out of nothing that Mignolet palms up in the air - by my reckoning that's their first shot on target.
    • 76' Bruce urges his players on - he can sense the points are up for grabs here.
    • 74' Elmohamady leaves O'Shea for dead and crosses from the right... cannot connect with Bent.
    • 73' Bardsley is in all sorts of space down the left and he crosses low for BENT!!! His shot goes wide off Vidic, but the linesman preposterously awards a goal-kick!
    • 73' O'Shea crosses from the left, but it is so vague and speculative it is never going to find a black shirt. Easy pickings for the Sunderland back four.
    • 72' Berbatov gives the ball away in midfield, and Sunderland look to build patiently.
    • 71' Vidic on the charge again... he draws a foul from Elmohamady wide on the United left... really poor ball into the box from Anderson. A complete waste.
    • 70' Nani's corner from the United right... can't beat the first man. Then Rafael's long shot is blocked at the edge of the box.
    • 69' Elmohamady dribbles to the edge of the box, his cross is headed clear and Zenden follows up with a volley that is blocked! The game is opening up...
    • 68' A quarter of the game to go, and we are still scoreless. Steve Bruce comes to the edge of his technical area to bark instructions.
    • 67' Malbranque's shot is deflected, loops up wickedly and nearly 'does a Paul Parker' over Van der Sar! But it drops over for a corner...
    • 66' Chance for Hernandez! He rises to meet O'Shea's inswinging cross from the left but makes a mess of his header, glancing it wide.
    • 66' Hernandez crosses towards Berbatov, but Onuoha rises well and heads it out for a throw.
    • 65' Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez is on for Macheda - he gets a good roar from the visiting supporters.
    • 64' Vidic heads out for a Sunderland throw... Malbranque is blocked by Vidic at the edge of the box - fair challenge from the United captain.
    • 63' Zenden's delivery is stabbed clear as far as Elmohamady who has a shot blocked, then gets another crack and shoots over.
    • 62' Late tackle by Anderson on Malbranque and he is lucky not to see a yellow card. Free-kick Sunderland...
    • 61' Bramble looks long for Bent, but Ferdinand rises high to head the ball clear. Good defending from the England skipper.
    • 60' Macheda chases a through ball and looks like he might get there before Mignolet, but there is an offside flag up against the striker.
    • 59' Vidic makes a marauding run down the left wing (seriously) and wins a corner with his deflected cross...
    • 58' Goals at White Hart Lane, where Rafael van der Vaart is continuing his excellent for form Spurs. Tottenham v Aston Villa
    • 57' It has been a much more even contest since the break - although it is worth mentioning United still haven't had a shot on target.
    • 56' Elmohamady wriggles away from O'Shea and crosses from the right... Vidic hoofs it away.
    • 55' Rafael tries to roll the ball past his man using his studs, but succeeds only in putting the ball out for a throw, much to the home fans' derisive glee.
    • 54' CORRECTION: My apologies - it was Owen who went off at half-time, not Macheda.
    • 53' Andy Reid gets up for a jog down the touchline, just to remind Steve Bruce he exists. Zenden will play on for now, though.
    • 52' Zenden has gone down with what might just be a touch of cramp. He's soon back up on his feet.
    • 50' Now O'Shea marauds down the left and wins a corner off Onuoha... it is played in, loops up and Mignolet makes a solid catch.
    • 49' Nani has a shot on his left foot that hits Bardsley and comes back to Scholes.
    • 48' A decent start to the second half from the visitors. Probably their best passage of play so far. I imagine they got hairdryered at the break - especially given the soaking state of their dressing room.
    • 47' Berbatov has the ball in the net almost instantly as he diverts a Scholes shot past Mignolet, but the Bulgarian is standing in an offside position.
    • 46' Sunderland get the second half under way!
    • 46' Well, you could see this change coming a mile off. Dimitar Berbatov replaces Federico Macheda.
    • 45+3' That's half-time, and the introduction of Berbatov cannot be far away. Sunderland by far the better side.
    • 45+2' Rafael wins a free-kick and United have one final opportunity before the break. Fletcher crosses from the right but a total breakdown in communication between the front two results in the ball bouncing off Macheda to a Sunderland player.
    • 45+1' Onuoha rampages down the right on the overlap and receives Malbranque's pass. He cannot decide whether to cross or shoot and in the end just fires the ball harmlessly out of play.
    • 45' Two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the first half.
    • 44' Rafael crosses from the right, and Mignolet stumbles as he catches it. For a second, it looks as if he'll fall into his own net but he keeps the ball in play.
    • 43' Sunderland are dealing with United's attacks with almost insulting ease. Steve Bruce will be so frustrated his team are not in front.
    • 42' Nani heads away Zenden's corner at the near post... but the ball is soon back with Sunderland.
    • 41' Anderson gives it away sloppily inside the centre circle and here comes Elmohamady again... wins a corner off O'Shea.
    • 40' Nani steps up and sidefoots a shot wide that is as limp and unthreatening as the visitors' first-half performance.
    • 39' The visitors might have - gasp! - a shot here, as Bramble is adjudged to have impeded Anderson.
    • 38' United defend another corner and will be very grateful still to be on terms.
    • 37' ZENDEN HITS THE POST!!! The Dutchman lets fly from 25 yards, beats Van der Sar but sees his shot crash back off the woodwork!
    • 35' Bent tries to curl one with his left foot from the edge of the box, but Van der Sar makes a save.
    • 34' United simply cannot get the ball forward. This is as insipid as I have seen them.
    • 32' Malbranque tries a shot from just outside the box... it's blocked.
    • 31' Macheda goes shoulder to shoulder against Onuoha, and the youngster is never going to win that one.
    • 30' Bobby and Jackie Charlton are both in the ground. Needless to say, they aren't sitting together...
    • 29' Vidic finds himself under pressure again, slicing the ball out for a corner. It comes to nothing.
    • 28' Referee Foy rather generously awards Anderson a free-kick inside his own half and United take it quickly... Sunderland are back well and present an organised rearguard that the visitors cannot pass through.
    • 27' Rare crossing opportunity for Nani... wasted. Straight at Mignolet.
    • 26' It's fired back in, ricochets off Bent and Van der Sar makes a reflex save!
    • 25' Henderson bends a free-kick into the box that Van der Sar fumbles and the ball is hacked away to the edge of the box.
    • 23' Another terrific spell of possession for Sunderland. In the end Elmohamady crosses from the right and Vidic heads behind for a corner.
    • 22' Rafael crosses from the right... it bounces into the hands of Mignolet who has had little to do so far.
    • 21' Once again, the pressure on United's defence is such that they just hack it clear from defence and hand possession straight back to the home side.
    • 20' In fairness to Nani, he does look a bit groggy. The challenge was fairly inocuous, however. I dare say the winger will soldier on.
    • 19' Nani gets clonked on the head by Phil Bardsley's forearm as they jostle for position. No foul, but the winger takes his opportunity to stay down. As usual.
    • 18' United are all over the place. Ferdinand is bamboozled by Henderson and Fletcher underhits a backpass to Van der Sar. Sunderland feel they should be in front.
    • 17' Vidic booked for a foul on the Sunderland right - typical of United's ragged play. Henderson delivers the free-kick to the edge of the box but there is nobody there to meet it.
    • 16' WHAT A CHANCE!! Malbranque gets beyong Vidic and runs on to a Cattermole through ball... but he hits his low shot straight at Van der Sar!
    • 15' Owen attempts to close down Mignolet but the goalkeeper just gets there first and boots a clearance over the striker's head.
    • 14' Sunderland dominant early on, but Zenden somehow fails to control a Cattermole pass wide on the left and it goes out for a throw.
    • 13' Speculative shot from Jordan Henderson... travels over and probably didn't have enough power anyway.
    • 12' O'Shea nearly plays his team into trouble by heading an innocuous cross straight up in the air...
    • 11' We have seen very little from United's attacking players so far. Nani, Owen and Macheda all very quiet.
    • 10' Elmohamady nutmegs O'Shea but Vidic is quickly across to bail out his team-mate.
    • 9' First shot of the game as Bent plays a neat one-two with Malbranque and drags his shot wide. Not the England man's best effort.
    • 8' This time Ferdinand heads clear and United look to break with Owen who is quickly surrounded.
    • 7' Zenden delivers again, and it hits Vidic in the face before going behind for one more corner.
    • 6' Malbranque delivers dangerously from the Sunderland left and Ferdinand puts it behind for a corner.. it comes in and Vidic heads behind for another.
    • 5' A fairly sloppy start from both sides. Even with that extra 20 minutes, I still can't get over Fergie's decision to drop Berbatov and Evra.
    • 4' Sunderland want a free-kick for an O'Shea challenge on Bent... nothing doing.
    • 3' Malbranque is pushed over and Sunderland have a chance to launch the free-kick into the box... Zenden to deliver... but Turner makes only slight contact and it goes out for a goal kick.
    • 2' Paul Scholes was listed as injured - he had a calf complaint, but starts this afternoon and gets a good early touch of the ball.
    • 1' Off we go! United kick off, playing from right to left as we see it. The only team who have beaten Sunderland here in 2010 are Mancherster United themselves.
    • 15:15 Here come the teams at last! Manchester United are in their black and blue third strip, Sunderland in red and white stripes.
    • 15:10 We have just had a Nemanja Vidic sighting in the tunnel. He looks largely dry and ready to get on with it...
    • 15:05 In the meantime, you can follow our other fine text commentaries, including Stoke v Blackburn where Rory Delap has just hit the far post with a throw. Stok v Blackburn
    • 15:00 It is a slightly surreal atmosphere at the Stadium of Light. The ground is full, everyone is ready to go, but there is no action. Not sure why the delay - presumably the United players got a soaking when the pipe burst...
    • 14:55 KICK-OFF DELAYED BY 20 MINUTES! A pipe has burst in the ceiling above the United dressing room, causing the match to be put back...
    • 14:55 The early game took place at the DW Stadium where Wigan defeated Wolves. Karl Henry was sent off early on for a dreadful tackle. Match report: Wigan v Wolves
    • 14:50 Wayne Rooney has today insisted he can recover his form - but only if Fergie plays him. Rooney's plea to play
    • 14:45 The other thing to remember about Ferguson resting Berbatov and Evra is that the international break is coming up - Berba has retired from the Bulgaria side, while Evra is banned by France. Unless they are injured, that's a strange selection...
    • 14:40 Elsewhere, Rio Ferdinand plays his second game within 72 hours, but his brother Anton is on the Sunderland bench. Perhaps surprisingly, there is no place for Asamoah Gyan with in-form Darren Bent playing as a lone front man.
    • 14:35 Look, I know he's won every trophy in the world, but that is a baffling selection from Alex Ferguson. Owen and Macheda start up front with Dimitar Berbatov consigned to the bench. That will surely have given the Sunderland dressing room a huge lift.
    • 14:30 SUNDERLAND: Mignolet, Onuoha, Turner, Bramble, Bardsley, Malbranque, Cattermole, Henderson, Zenden, Bent, Elmohamady... Subs: Gordon, Mensah, Da Silva, Riveros, Reid, Ferdinand, Gyan... • 14:25 Manager Steve Bruce will face former manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the 15th time in the PL. He has never won in 14 previous meetings – losing 11 and drawing three. His only point in the last seven meetings came with Sunderland’s 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in October 2009.
    • 14:20 Sunderland and Manchester United have met 114 times in the league. Sunderland have won 37, Manchester United 50 and there have been 27 draws. Sunderland have won just one of their 18 meetings in the Premier League era.
    • 14:15 Welcome to live coverage of today's game from the Stadium of Light, where Manchester United can go level on points with leaders Chelsea if they secure their first away win of the season.
