    • 90+4' FULL TIME. City go three points clear at the top of the table. Liverpool start life without Suarez with a pretty comprehensive defeat, even if the scoreline flattered the home side.
    • 90+2' Now Downing calls Hart into action with a firm effort. Liverpool have finished strongly here.
    • 90+1' Now Gerrard dribbles a shot at goal and we will have four minutes of added time.
    • 90' Bellamy rifles a shot at goal and forces Hart into an unconvincing save. Maxi follows up but Hart makes himself big to block the goalbound effort.
    • 88' We are meandering towards a conclusion here at Etihad Stadium. City destined to go three points clear at the top of the table.
    • 86' A chance for Maxi as the ball drops to him in the box and he holds off two markers before spinning and shooting wide of the post.
    • 84' Stat from Infostrada: "This can become Liverpool’s second defeat by at least a three-goal margin this PL season (4-0 at Tottenham). The last time the club lost at least two matches in the same season by such a margin was in 2006/07 when they lost 3-0 at Everton and Arsenal."
    • 82' A chance for Gerrard as he lets fly from 25 yards and thunders a fine effort just outside the far post, but there is no hope for Liverpool here really.
    • 80' Adam Johnson finds a pocket of space and raps the base of the post with a curling effort from 20 yards. What a great shot.
    • 78' Hart completely misses a delivery from the right but gets away with it, luckily for the keeper.
    • 77' City also made a change with Joleon Lescott coming on for David Silva to keep things tight.
    • 76' Liverpool change as Maxi Rodriguez comes on for Jay Spearing.
    • 76' It shouldn't really have been a penalty and Mancini embarrassed himself when demanding a red card on the sidelines. He didn't get one.
    • 75' GOAL! Man City 3-0 Liverpool! Milner bangs the penalty home to give City an unassailable lead.
    • 74' Penalty for City! Skrtel brings down Yaya Toure! There wasn't a huge amount of contact.
    • 73' Red card! Barry shown a second yellow. Just minutes after fouling Gerrard, Barry bodychecks Agger to prevent the defender from steaming forward. It was the correct decision as it was a messy challenge.
    • 72' A change now for City as Aguero, scorer of the first goal, is replaced by Adam Johnson.
    • 70' This has been a rather dismal second half, unfortunately. Liverpool's approach hasn't really helped in that regard.
    • 69' Milner, up and running again, exchanges passes with Silva before firing in a cross that eludes anyone in a sky blue shirt.
    • 68' Johnson and Milner are both down in pain after colliding, and apparently clashing knees. Milner in particular looks in some distress.
    • 67' It is the turn of Gerrard to lump one into the box but City don't allow the ball to find Carroll. More good defending as Liverpool continue to pump them in high.
    • 66' Bellamy, who has looked bright since he came on, drills a shot wide. The Welshman has been one of Liverpool's best players this season, not that that will surprise City fans. He was fantastic for them as well before being dumped out.
    • 65' Stat from Infostrada: "Liverpool have lost only one their last 11 PL matches in which Steven Gerrard made an appearance. That was a 3-1 defeat at West Ham United on 27 February 2011."
    • 64' Kolo Toure is almost caught out by Henderson as he concedes a corner but as Liverpool go aerial again looking for Carroll, City clear.
    • 62' Lateef Jaiyeola has this to say on Twitter: "I will only write Liverpool off after City scores the 3rd goal!" Optimism, eh? Get in touch on Twitter
    • 61' Liverpool have had 66 per cent possession in this second half by the way.
    • 60' Bellamy hangs a deep ball into the box for Carroll, of course, but Clichy does enough to get it clear.
    • 59' Dzeko and Skrtel are involved in a flashpoint. Dzeko falls heavily when challenging the Liverpool man in the air and then squares up to his opponent in a pretty enthusiastic manner. Both men to a takling to.
    • 57' Gerrard on to replace Adam and Bellamy, against his former club, is on in place of Kuyt. This should give Liverpool more of an edge.
    • 56' Johnson goes into the book to join Barry after fouling Aguero.
    • 55' Here we go... both Gerrard and Bellamy are stripping off and getting ready to come on to try and change the course of this game.
    • 54' City haven't shown a lot at the start of the second half though in all honesty. Silva still bright.
    • 53' Carroll looks a bit isolated to be honest and could do with some support in the shape of Gerrard, who remains on the bench as Liverpool nurse him back to health. He has made only two appearances since October.
    • 51' Kompany, again, heads away from a Johnson cross. Liverpool are looking for Carroll in the air this half and are making no bones about it.
    • 50' Good defending from Kompany as he heads behind for a corner with Carroll lurking with intent behind him. The Belgian then heads clear yet again.
    • 49' Stat from Infostrada: "The last time Liverpool conceded twice before the break in a PL match was in a 3-1 defeat at West Ham United on 27 February 2011 (2-0 at half time)."
    • 48' No changes from either side but I don't imagine it will be too long before we see either Craig Bellamy or Steven Gerrard for Liverpool, if they have serious designs on getting something from this game.
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • - Obed Musajja has this to say on Twitter: "On any other season I would give a liverpool comeback no chance, but this has been a funny old season..." Get in contact on Twitter
    • - Let me know what you thought about that first half on Twitter. I will try and use some of your comments here. Follow @tomEurosport
    • - HALF TIME. Goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero have City in control, but they haven't been at their best so far today.
    • 45+1' We will have one added minute.
    • 45' Our first booking as Barry snaps into a late tackle on Jay Spearing.
    • 44' The rain is absolutely heaving down at Eastlands now. That might make for a decent spectacle in the second half.
    • 43' Kompany produces a quite outstanding block to deny Kuyt from close range. What excellent defending. Carroll had headed down from a cross and Hart was indebted to the Belgian.
    • 42' Dzeko is fouled by Adam and Silva stands over the free-kick. He curls an effort at goal but if flies over the bar.
    • 41' City haven't actually been very good tonight, but they lead 2-0. If they do get the win they will go three points clear at the top of the table of course.
    • 40' Stat from Infostrada: "Yaya Toure scores from a corner kick by David Silva. The Spaniard also assisted on the first goal and now leads all players in the PL this season with 10 assists."
    • 38' Downing pings in a smart cross from the left and Carroll turns it on with a subtle touch of the boot but his effort creeps past the far post.
    • 36' Liverpool had settled fairly well after the opening goal and were looking good value before the hammer blow of the second. Hard to see City letting this go now.
    • 34' GOAL! Man City 2-0 Liverpool! Oh dear. From the corner, Yaya Toure rises in front of his marker to turn the ball at goal and send his header past Reina and in off the underside of the bar.
    • 32' What a save! Kompany races to the near post and flicks a header at goal but Reina tips it away. He makes amends for that earlier mistake.
    • 31' Aguero tries to twist and turn his way past Skrtel and the ball bounces up before striking the Czech defender on the arm. Aguero wants a penalty but it wasn't deliberate and play is rightly waved on.
    • 29' It is left to Henderson to take it and he tries to go low and through the wall. However, a combination of Kolo Toure and Clichy block for City.
    • 28' Kolo Toure brings down Adam just 20 yards from goal with a blatant foul. This is a good, good chance for Liverpool.
    • 27' Johnson produces a poor cross from the right that is nowhere near finding Carroll in the box. Frustrating for Liverpool.
    • 26' Stat from Infostrada: "This fixture features the teams that have conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League this season, both 16 (including tonight). The last time Liverpool conceded the fewest goals of all clubs in an entire PL season was 10 years ago in the 2001/02 season (30 goals).
    • 25' The ball pops out to Henderson after Kuyt challenges Barry on the edge of the box and the youngster thumps a decent first-time effort that flies just wide.
    • 24' Downing wins a free-kick from Silva and Adam's curling effort from the set-piece forces Hart into a rather unconvincing parry. Liverpool then win a corner but when Adam delivers after going short, Richards heads away at the back post with Carroll lurking.
    • 22' City almost enjoy a rather lucky second goal. Dzeko takes aim from 20 yards or so and his low effort catches the heel of Glen Johnson before squirming just the other side of the post. Reina was stranded.
    • 20' Adam is tasked with producing one of those £10m corners but Vincent Kompany meets it at the near post with a header clear. Liverpool work the ball back into the box and Carroll gives Joe Hart something to think about when leaping to challenge.
    • 19' Stat from Infostrada: "Liverpool have only conceded more than one goal in one of their 23 matches in all competitions this season (4-0 at Tottenham)."
    • 18' Carroll - perhaps frustrated after missing that chance - is guilty of a pretty meaty challenge on Gael Clichy. Any later in the game and that might have merited a yellow card.
    • 17' Carroll, so desperate to impress, gets in front of Kolo Toure to meet a cross from the right from Kuyt but can only send the ball flying high over the bar with his head.
    • 15' Silva wreaks havoc again with a lovely slipped pass to Aguero, who wins a corner thanks to his endeavour. Liverpool clear from the set piece.
    • 14' Another opening for Aguero as the ball runs across the face of goal and into his path but the striker doesn't get the necessary elevation on the ball when attempting to lift it over Reina, who catches it gratefully.
    • 13' Stat from Infostrada: "Aguero becomes the first opposition player to score against Liverpool since Clint Dempsey scored Fulham's winning goal in the 85th minute of their match at Craven Cottage on December 5. Since then, Liverpool had played five matches and had only conceded own goals from Charlie Adam (vs Blackburn) and Daniel Agger (vs Newcastle)."
    • 12' That really was a poor, poor effort from Reina. Aguero's shot should never have found its way into the back of the net. It was a routine save, or should have been.
    • 10' GOAL! Man City 1-0 Liverpool! So, so sloppy from Liverpool. Kuyt loses possession 20 yards from his own goal and Silva slips in Aguero, who sees his effort somehow bypass the culpable Reina.
    • 9' As the frantic pace continues, Silva finds Dzeko with a low cross, who cushions the ball with his first touch to take it away from Martin Skrtel and fires in a shot from a tight angle that Reina saves.
    • 8' A great chance for Liverpool! The City defence opens up when Jordan Henderson plays a sumptuous through-ball for Stewart Downing. He bears down on goal but Joe Hart makes himself big to deny his England colleague. Excellent goalkeeping, but Downing should have finished it.
    • 7' A good chance for City. David Silva slips in a pass for Micah Richards and he in turn find Sergio Aguero, who lays the ball off for Edin Dzeko. However, a heavy first touch sees the Bosnian lose control and Jose Reina is able to tidy up.
    • 5' Liverpool's players are wearing black armbands in memory of former Red Gary Ablett, who died at the age of 46 yesterday.
    • 3' Gareth Barry cedes possession with a slack pass but James Milner helps recover with a sliding intervention. It has been a low-key start to proceedings.
    • 2' Andy Carroll pressed into action early on as he wins a flick-on for Charlie Adam. Liverpool then overhit a cross to the big striker.
    • 1' KICK OFF!
    • 19.58 Stat from Infostrada: "Steven Gerrard is on the bench tonight. This can become his first PL match away from the city of Liverpool since playing in a 3-1 defeat at West Ham United on 27 February 2011. Since then he has played six PL matches at Anfield and one at Everton's Goodison Park."

    • 19.50 Stats from Opta: "Andy Carroll has scored four goals in three Premier League starts against Manchester City, and has bagged more goals against the Citizens than any other side. Liverpool have failed to score in four of their last five away games against City. Manchester City have won all nine of their Premier League home games in 2011-12, as well as the last five of last season (14 in total)."
    • 19.45 Man City make six changes from the team that lost 1-0 to Sunderland to that late Ji Dong-won goal. Most notably, David Silva and Sergio Aguero come in. Liverpool still have Steven Gerrard on the bench while Dirk Kuyt comes into the starting line-up.

Subs: Doni, Gerrard, Maxi, Carragher, Shelvey, Kelly, Bellamy.
    • 19.35 Kenny Dalglish has just had this to say about Suarez: "We stand alongside Luis Suarez as a football club, as we have always done. Before I get myself in trouble that is all I am prepared to say. There is plenty I would love to say."
    • 19.30 Stat from Infostrada: "Manchester City have won only one of their last 13 PL games against Liverpool – the 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium last season. Gareth Barry and Carlos Tevez (2) netted in the victory."
    • 19.25 Manchester City are currently level at the top of the table with Manchester United on 45 points and can steal a match on their rivals with a win here. Liverpool start the night in sixth but a win takes them above Arsenal.
    • 19.20 That is the story overshadowing today's game and you can read all about it here. My take? More embarrassing behaviour from Liverpool. Anyway, we are here to talk about the game. Liverpool decline Suarez appeal
    • 19.15 Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League tie between Liverpool and Manchester City. Newsflash: Luis Suarez does not start after Liverpool decided against appealing his eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra.
