    • - What a night for City. Will they go on to win the title now? And what of United, did they get everything they deserved after a poor performance? Let me know now on Twitter. FOLLOW TOM ADAMS ON TWITTER!
    • 90+6' FULL TIME. Man City go top of the table courtesy of Kompany's header in first half injury time! The win is full deserved for City, who were the better team for the vast majority of the game. If City win their remaining two games they will win the title.
    • 90+6' Carrick plays in Rooney on the edge of the box but he sees his shot blocked. United then loft the ball back into the box and Hart is fouled by Smalling. That could be it for City.
    • 90+5' Clichy races off the near post to boot the ball clear.
    • 90+5' A late, late corner for United...
    • 90+3' A change for City as James Milner comes on for Nasri.
    • 90+3' What awaits us in the final minutes? United will have to throw everything at this now.
    • 90+1' Five minutes added time, where on earth did that come from??
    • 90' A late free kick to United but they take it short. Clichy heads away at the back post to prevent Valencia from taking possession.
    • 90' Jones plays in Welbeck in the box but City stand firm and clear. Zabaleta then boots the ball clear from the right before City break, Toure collecting the ball on the left and squaring for Nasri, who waltzes past two challenges before getting the ball caught under his feet from six yards out!
    • 88' Aguero can't get on the end of a Zabaleta cross but the ball rolls into the path of Clichy and his firm effort is parried away by De Gea!
    • 87' De Gea punches away from a cross but still City come forward in an attempt to find a second and kill the game off for good. United are struggling for fluency still.
    • 85' City are doing well to retain possession and with Richards and De Jong are a much more robust prospect. United have to pull something out of the bag now.
    • 83' Meanwhile, United replace the ineffective Nani with Ashley Young.
    • 82' A change for City as they completely shut up shop, defender Micah Richards replacing Silva.
    • 81' City go close! Toure collects the ball near the half-way line, surges forward and bends an effort just wide of the post from 20 yards.
    • 80' Rooney gets a bit mouthy with referee Marriner and he has had a very frustrating evening. United are losing their cool somewhat, but let's not forget they only need one goal.
    • 79' The temperature rises as Carrick now goes into the book for a foul on Nasri.
    • 78' Aguero finds space on the right of the box but thumps his ball into the side netting. Meanwhile, United do make their change as Scholes is replaced by Valencia.
    • 77' Trouble erupts! De Jong is booked for chopping down Welbeck and Ferguson is furious as he becomes engaged in a row with Mancini! The managers need to be pulled apart on the touchlines.
    • 76' Toure plays in Aguero and his snapshot is blocked. That looked a promising opening for City.
    • 75' Scholes and Toure exchange words as United continue to toil. Just 15 minutes remaining for Sir Alex Ferguson's side to get the goal they need to keep their fate in their own hands.
    • 73' It is rather bizarre we haven't seen Valencia yet: he has the joint most Premier League assists with Silva and Juan Mata, and has missed large chunks of the season too.
    • 72' City break and Toure finds a pocket of space before drilling a shot well wide of the post. It was worth a go by the midfielder, though De Gea was untroubled.
    • 71' Lescott appears to throw out an arm to block a pass from Rooney and the striker protests furiously with referee Marriner, to no avail.
    • 70' Jones goes into the book as he catches the boot of Barry with a rather wild challenge. Barry is down injured on the floor and requires treatment.
    • 68' Here is the substitution and it is Tevez who is replaced. It is a fair decision: Tevez hasn't been dangerous at all today.
    • 67' If City do bring on De Jong and United get back into this game, Mancini's attitude will be questioned. It seems a touch conservative with 23 minutes remaining.
    • 66' Jones has so, so much space on the right of the box after being played in by Nani but his cross is woeful. Meanwhile, City ready De Jong as they look to shut the game down.
    • 65' Unlucky from Rooney. He attempts to find Nani with a cushioned reverse pass, only for Kompany to come across and tidy up. Kompany has been excellent again tonight.
    • 64' United push forward and Jones finds space down the right, his cross deflected behind by Lescott. Hart comes for the set piece and punches the ball out to Rooney but the striker's cross is headed away. This is better from United.
    • 63' Aguero drifts across the face of goal and spurns the chance to shoot on two occasions. Instead he tries to slip a square pass to Tevez but United intercept and play the ball out. Wasteful from the striker.
    • 62' Good work from Toure as he fires in a dangerous low cross but once again United manage to get the ball clear. City are well on top at present.
    • 61' The ball bounces into the air and as Zabaleta attempts to control, Evra comes piling into the back of the City defender. The United captain was fortunate not to get booked, there, but the free kick comes to nothing.
    • 60' Clichy swings in a cross from the left but cannot pick out a City shirt. United are still soaking up pressure.
    • 59' Rather unconvincing from De Gea as he comes off his line to play the ball short. City cannot capitalise though.
    • 58' Here is the change and Park is replaced by Welbeck, who will join Rooney in attack.
    • 58' Silva delivers the ball again and after Evra heads clear, City regain possession and Nasri curls an effort just wide.
    • 57' City break but Smalling comes across to deflect Zabaleta's cross behind for another corner following a neat pass from Aguero into the right channel.
    • 56' Smalling clatters into Tevez from behind to concede a free kick and City take it quickly, Aguero losing possession on the edge of the box after a quick pass from Tevez.
    • 55' Danny Welbeck is warming up on the touchlines and jogs over to the United bench. It looks as though he will be coming on, presumably for Park.
    • 54' Kompany takes no risks when the ball rolls into his path 30 yards from his own goal with Rooney sniffing around: the defender hoofs it high into the air and out for a throw.
    • 53' As United try to break, Giggs is muscled off the ball by Toure and when a foul is awarded, the midfielder stupidly hurls the ball into the turf to earn a booking.
    • 52' City are beginning to play with verve and intent again and the ball is spread wide to Zabaleta, who sees his rather desperate cross deflected away.
    • 51' Aguero with an exquisite pass to the overlapping Zabaleta and now it is City's turn to have a corner. Kompany is lurking but instead Lescott is the target and he is unable to connect with the delivery after tangling with Ferdinand.
    • 50' Nani gets a snapshot in from the left, Hart fumbles his shot at the near post and allows it to sneak behind for another corner. It has been a nervy start to proceedings for the home side here.
    • 49' Hart comes for the corner and just gets a touch to the ball with his fingers to send it behind for a corner from the other side. This time City are able to clear.
    • 48' United construct a good flowing move and Lescott deflects the ball behind for the first corner of the half.
    • 47' The TV cameras pick out Nemanja Vidic, who has been sorely missed by United this season after that serious knee injury of his. Perhaps he would have dealt with that corner...
    • 46' KICK OFF! No changes from either side.
    • - Yazan Marei has this to say on Twitter: "Bring on Valencia and Young to play with Nani behind Rooney, and City defenders won't be able to keep up..!!" Get in contact on Twitter
    • - It's half time, so why not follow me on Twitter now and let me know what you thought of the first 45 minutes. FOLLOW TOM ADAMS ON TWITTER!
    • 45+3' HALF TIME. Kompany's header has City 1-0 in front after a half that had proved largely uneventful until injury time. The City fans are raucous now.
    • 45+2' We are having two added minutes by the way...
    • 45+1' GOAL! Manchester City 1-0 Manchester United! Kompany puts City in front! Kompany has too much space to meet a Silva corner from the left and leaps behind Smalling to head the ball firmly past De Gea.
    • 45+1' De Gea comes for the ball and is unable to make contact but Ferdinand clears. City regroup, Silva releasing Nasri with a glorious reverse pass, and it is another corner to the home side.
    • 45' A late corner for Manchester City as Evra deflects behind...
    • 44' Well it hasn't been a classic and certainly hasn't lived up to the hype. Neither goalkeeper has had to make a save and we can only hope for a bit more goalmouth action in the second half.
    • 42' The corner is played into the path of Park who is advancing into the box but he gets under the ball and sends it swirling over the bar. That was rather slack from City as they let the South Korea international run free.
    • 41' This might be short on goalmouth action but it is still a hard-fought, absorbing contest. Now Rooney cuts the ball back from the right and United win a corner off Lescott. Late pressure from the visitors.
    • 40' Nani gets an extravagant flick to a Jones cross after Rooney spreads the ball wide but City are able to clear and break quickly, with Aguero twisting and turning in the box before his shot is deflected behind for a corner.
    • 39' Toure supplies a cross from the right but Aguero is unable to get on the end of it as he leaps in the centre. When the ball comes back in from the left, the striker leaps in vain again. Putting crosses into the box probably isn't the best way to get the most out of Aguero.
    • 38' Stat from Opta: "Manchester City scored six goals from just seven shots on target against United in their 6-1 victory at Old Trafford earlier this season."
    • 37' City push forward again and after Zabaleta bundles his way into the box, he shoots on the turn when perhaps he should have left the ball to Aguero, who was also in attendance in the box.
    • 36' A nice passing move from City culminates with Aguero attempting to get a shot away on the bounce but Ferdinand sticks a leg in and does enough to put the striker off.
    • 35' This is getting rather heated now. Both sides are putting in strong challenges and it is making for a combative evening.
    • 34' Referee Marriner tells captain Evra to have a calming word with Rooney, who is letting the occasion get to him a touch. Meanwhile, replays show Tevez putting in a hard tackle on Jones.
    • 33' Carrick is unhappy after being fouled by Tevez, and replays show that the City striker did have a little kick at his opponent.
    • 32' This game is yet to catch fire but City will certainly be pleased with how it is panning out. They haven't looked vulnerable at the back and are starting to make inroads on United.
    • 31' Kompany, already on a yellow card of course, is given a talking to by Marriner, even if Rooney appeared to be the chief instigator of the incident. It isn't serious enough to merit any cards though.
    • 30' Nasri, who is having a decent evening, tries to make inroads from the right as City pressure again. Rooney then takes possession to a chorus of boos having had a tangle with Kompany off the ball.
    • 29' Aguero ventures forward down the left channel but after laying the ball back to Toure his team-mate gets a horrible connection to an attempted shot and the ball skews well wide.
    • 28' City are beginning to play their way around United's midfield here. Park's influence is being felt less and less, while Scholes is not getting enough of the ball either.
    • 26' City have palpably improved in the past 10 minutes or so and have a bit more fluency at present. Aguero is beginning to make his influence felt, which is ominous for the visitors.
    • 25' City go short from the corner and when the ball does arrive Rooney skews a clearance high into the air. United fail to deal with the ball and Aguero races onto a volley, only to send it high into the stands.
    • 24' Aguero is given possession in the box but red shirts swarm around him to prevent the Argentina striker from getting a shot away. Ferdinand pokes the ball out for a corner.
    • 23' Stat from Opta: "Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez have been on the pitch together for 304 minutes this season in the Premier League. In that time, Aguero has scored seven goals and Tevez has netted four."
    • 22' A corner to City as a prolonged spell of pressure ends with Carrick heading behind from a Zabaleta cross from the right. Evra heads up into the air from the set-piece but a goal kick is awarded to United as Kompany falls to ground.
    • 21' Evra plays a lovely little dinked pass through midfield, the only problem being there is not a single United shirt in the target area. Park looks a bit perplexed.
    • 20' Rooney is caught late by Kompany as he distributes the ball wide but Marriner tells United to play on with the advantage. When play is called back with Rooney down injured, Kompany is booked by the referee. Harsh.
    • 18' Stat from Opta: "Manchester City have won 77 of a possible 81 points in their last 27 Premier League home games."
    • 17' Park is playing in quite an advanced role for United as he has been deployed in front of both Carrick and Scholes, who are sitting deep and orchestrating play from in front of the defence.
    • 16' A great chance for City! Nasri cuts in from the right, dives past a couple of challenges and slips in Tevez. His cut-back is heading for Aguero at the back post but Phil Jones sticks out a leg and makes a crucial clearance. Excellent defending.
    • 15' Good work from Zabaleta as he holds onto the ball under extreme pressure from Giggs and fires a cross-field pass to Kompany, allowing City to build from the back.
    • 14' United have certainly been the more impressive side so far in this first half. They have the greater energy in midfield but haven't really carved out a decent chance as yet. City will hope to improve, and soon.
    • 13' Stat from Opta: "There have been six red cards in Premier League Manchester derbies, five of them going to United."
    • 12' Now Ryan Giggs snaps into a tackle on Yaya Toure in midfield. They have shown fantastic enthusiasm so far and United are the better side, no doubt about it.
    • 11' Good pressing from Evra but City recover and when Gareth Barry tries to play a pass forward, Scholes intercepts with his arm. A free kick but no booking for the United midfielder.
    • 10' Nani gets a rather wild shot away from 20 yards. His effort flies high into the stands to draw a sarcastic reaction from the City supporters. It isn't wise to allow Nani too many chances like that though: he can be excellent from range.
    • 9' Nani with the set-piece but Kompany is alert to head away. Once again the ball comes in from United from a wide position and again they appeal for handball when it appears to strike the torso of Kompany, but Marriner, again, is unimpressed.
    • 8' Carrick plays in Rooney with a neat ball into the right channel. The striker checks back when seeing he has no options in the centre and United construct a patient move before Evra wins another corner, this time off right-back Pablo Zabaleta.
    • 7' It is Silva who takes the set piece but Rio Ferdinand stoops near the penalty spot to head clear. City are beginning to apply more pressure now, though their flow is interrupted by the restless figure of Park in midfield.
    • 6' David Silva comes into the game for the first time. He has one shot blocked by the boot of Chris Smalling before another deflects behind for a corner.
    • 5' Both sets of fans appear to be in fine voice, as you would expect on such an occasion. The volume from the United end rises as Nani threatens to break through down the left but Joleon Lescott comes across to intercept.
    • 4' Stat from Opta: "Manchester United have lost only one of their last five Premier League trips to the Etihad Stadium & they also defeated Man City there earlier this season in the FA Cup (3-2)."
    • 3' Tevez gets hold of the ball for the first time and retains possession under pressure. However, City are unable to carve out a chance when spreading the ball across the width of the Etihad Stadium pitch.
    • 2' United go short from the corner and City are caught cold. Joe Hart then flaps at the ball as it loops high into the air and when Michael Carrick takes a swing at the loose ball, his effort strikes the arm of Vincent Kompany, which is placed in front of the defender's chest. Andre Marriner waves play on though.
    • 1' Patrice Evra gets running down the left flank for the first time and wins a corner off international team-mate Samir Nasri. Nani to take...
    • 1' KICK OFF!
    • 19.58 The teams emerge from the tunnel, undergo the traditional pre-match handshakes and drift off to their respective ends. Here we go. The biggest Manchester derby for many a year is now upon us.
    • 19:55 Just minutes to go before the big kick-off. United have won 12 of their past 15 league games but will settle for a draw tonight, a scenario reflected in Sir Alex Ferguson's team selection. However, only a win will do for City as they aim to take top spot with two matches remaining. It's a huge moment in the title race, and indeed in Premier League history. What's your prediction? Let me know on Twitter now! FOLLOW TOM ADAMS ON TWITTER!
    • 19:50 It is hard to overestimate the importance of this game. A league title - number 20 for United - is at stake, as well as no small amount of local pride in a city that for decades has been dominated by those in red. In recent seasons the balance of power has been tipping to City, and a win tonight may well signal a decisive shift. This match is imbued with so much significance in a football-mad city that for decades has seen United lord it over their rivals. City v United: Head to head
    • 19:45 City have won 16 of their 17 home games this season, drawing the other, which only underlines the size of the task facing United. Fergie's side do have the best away record though - winning 12 of 17 away from Old Trafford - and in Wayne Rooney have a player who has scored 13 goals in his past 11 Premier League games. In terms of motivation, they have a 6-1 home loss to City to avenge, Tevez to shut up and also hope to prevent their noisy neighbours from winning a first league title since 1968. Bryan Robson: United will get the draw they need
    • 19:40 Roberto Mancini has constantly played down City's hopes of winning the league - even conceding the title after a recent defeat to Arsenal - but United's 4-4 draw at home to Everton has allowed them back in. Whether it is mind games, or something less sinister, Mancini still thinks United will win the league, even if City win tonight. Paul Parker: Derby winners will be champions
    • 19:35 Meanwhile, City are unchanged from the side that defeated Wolves 2-0 last weekend as the fit-again Micah Richards and Mario Balotelli, back from suspension, only make the bench. Therefore it is an attacking line-up from City, with a fluid and fluent front four comprising a certain Carlos Tevez, facing his former side.
    • 19:30 It's an unexpected team selection from United, who make four changes from the side that drew 4-4 with Everton, the most notable of which being the absence of Jonny Evans and the decision to drop Antonio Valencia to the bench despite his tremendous form of late. Danny Welbeck also makes way for Park Ji-Sung to bolster the midfield. It is unmistakeably a conservative selection.

    • 19:25 TEAMS: Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Clichy, Kompany, Lescott, Barry, Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Tevez, Aguero. Subs: Pantilimon, Richards, Kolarov, De Jong, Milner, Balotelli, Dzeko. /// Man Utd: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Nani, Giggs, Park, Rooney. Subs: Amos, Rafael, Valencia, Young, Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov.
    • 19:20 United start the night three points clear at the top of the Premier League with three games remaining. A win or a draw tonight will virtually hand them the title given they face Swansea and Sunderland in their remaining two games. However, a win for City takes them top on goal difference, with Newcastle and QPR to come.
    • 19:15 Hello and welcome to our live coverage of what has been billed the biggest Premier League game in history: the Manchester derby between City and United that could settle the title race.
