    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this match, along with every Premier League game, from 00:01 on Tuesday morning (UK only).
    • 90+4' Evans heads clear for a final time, and there goes the final whistle! Far from convincing but they have got the points and are back to the top of the pile.
    • 90+4' Smalling clears for a Fulham throw - last chance...
    • 90+3' Pointless trip by Ruiz and that allows United to clear from just outside their own box. Fergie checks his watch and chews.
    • 90+2' United struggle to clear with Ruiz, Pog and Dempsey all threatening at the edge of the box. They eventually get it away but it's quickly back with Fulham.
    • 90+1' Three minutes of time to be added on.
    • 90' Oh my, the replay shows Carrick clipped Murphy and that should have been a penalty for Fulham! A massive decision from Michael Oliver, and he appears to have got it wrong.
    • 90' Big penalty appeal! Murphy down in the box and referee Michael Oliver waves play on!
    • 88' United break through the middle and Giggs plays it down the left channel for Young whose attempt to square for Hernandez is blocked.
    • 87' Who or what is 'Mister Potato'? It appears to be a brand of crisps being advertised on the Old Trafford billboards. I'm so out of touch.
    • 86' Oh, Hernandez! He dribbles into the box from the right, tries a trick and leaves the ball behind - then spins around trying to locate it like a (yappy) dog chasing its tail.
    • 85' Murphy puts it into a good area but Evra gets his head on it to clear.
    • 84' Fulham win a free-kick on the left 25 yards out. Murphy stands over it.
    • 83' De Gea is holding his wrist following that punch - he landed awkwardly on it. He'll have to play no as United have made all three changes.
    • 82' Fulham free-kick 40 yards out from the right... swung in, and De Gea punches majestically clear. Great distance on that.
    • 81' Valencia squares low for Hernandez, who is leaning back and makes foot contact with the ball, which bobbles through to Schwarzer off a defender.
    • 80' Low cross into the Fulham box, but Evra dummies it to nobody and the ball rolls out for a Fulham throw.
    • 79' I don't see why you would take your best player off when it's seven days until your next match. He wasn't injured..
    • 78' Off goes Rooney for Paul Scholes. It's an odd change.
    • 77' Murphy lofts a great 40-yard ball through for Dempsey, who just fails to make contact on the volley with his outstretched foot! That was a chance.
    • 75' TRIPLE CHANCE!! Young hits a powerful volley that Schwarzer parries, before getting out quickly to block Young's follow-up. Then Giggs fires but Hangeland is there to block the goalbound shot!
    • 75' Here we go again - Chris Smalling comes no for Rio Ferdinand. He doesn't have an obvious injury, but it's the only conceivable reason for the change. Precautionary, let's hope.
    • 74' Evans slides through the back of his man and he is very lucky not to receive a booking for that.
    • 73' Rooney looks for the sprinting Hernandez but Hughes makes an interception.
    • 71' Here's the change - Murphy on for Diarra.
    • 70' Duff crosses from the Fulham right, and it is put out for a throw on the right. Erstwhile United nemesis Danny Murphy is about to come on.
    • 69' Another block at the edge of the Fulham box as Rafael tees up Rooney whose effort rebounds back off Hughes. Then Giggs has a crack, but drags his effort wide.
    • 68' Young tries a shot on his right foot, but this time it is blocked.
    • 67' And here it is - Bryan Ruiz on for Kerim Frei. Ruiz has had a disappointing first season in English football. A great chance to turn things around.
    • 66' It feels like half an hour since Fulham last touched the ball... they are wating to make a change.
    • 65' I think the cliche for what we are seeig now is 'exhibition stuff'. Not altogether sensible at 1-0.
    • 63' There's the change - a big cheer goes up as Hernandez replaces Welbeck. He scored twice at Wolves last weekend.
    • 63' United continue to stroke the ball around under little pressure. Hence the dog/pin-based musings.
    • 62' Javier Hernandez is getting ready to come on for United - I'm guessing he'll replace Welbeck.
    • 61' Not that I'm advocating such cruelty to animals.
    • 61' An hour gone, and you could hear a pin drop. Well, you couldn't. Unless it landed on a yappy dog. You could definitely hear a yappy dog that had just had a pin dropped on it.
    • 59' Young finds the overlapping Evra whose cross is too deep. Played back into the box, where Welbeck again fails to sort his feet out.
    • 58' Dembele swerves past Rooney and is winding up to shoot when Evans comes in with a well-timed tackle, and Rafael clears up. Good defending, but encouragement for Fulham.
    • 57' Brilliant United interplay featuring a Giggs backheel and nice work from Young - but the shot is blocked. That would have been a superb goal.
    • 55' That shot was from Young, not Rooney as I inexplicably wrote in the comment. They really don't look that much alike. Brain freeze.
    • 54' Valencia finds the overlapping Rafael, whose low cross deflects behind for a corner.
    • 53' Young tries a long-range curler that Schwarzer palms to safety. Good hit, but unlikely to beat the keeper from that far out.
    • 51' You're not missing much on the pitch - United in control but creating not much early in the second half.
    • 50' Thanks for all your half-time tweets, incidentally. Sorry not to relpy to them all. That Ranieri news rather took over.
    • 49' Some breaking news from Italy - Claudio Ranieri has been sacked as Internazionale manager. Full story
    • 48' The ball comes back in to the box where Hughes makes a mess of his clearance and nearly scores an own goal, but the ball loops wide.
    • 47' Valencia sprints through the centre and is fround with a through ball - fires a powerful shot that Schwarzer does well to parry!
    • 46' Second half under way, and Fulham are on the front foot with Dempsey, whose low cross is well held by De Gea.
    • - Here, friends, is your half-time treat. Just watch it. What Premier League team would do this?
    • 45+3' That's half-time, and United lead, but it has been a fairly humdrum performance from them so far. Back in a few minutes. And in you feel like tweeting me your half-time thoughts, you know where to go - @alexchick81 Tweet me!
    • 45+2' Pogrebnyak has a sniff of a shot, but declines to let fly inside the box. That should be it for the first half.
    • 45+1' To put that Rooney '17 in 17' stat into perspective, Lionel Messi has scored 18 in 8. Thanks again to @thehappybumbleB for that one.
    • 45+1' Rooney finds Young with a gorgeous through-ball. The winger hits the post, but there is an offside flag already up.
    • 45' And this from @InfostradaLive : "Rooney scores his 8th PL goal vs Fulham and equals PL record of scoring most goal vs Fulham held by Aiyegbeni, Henry, V Nistelrooy, Viduka."
    • 44' Rooney delivers and outswinging cross from the right corner of the box - Schwarzer holds it.
    • 43' @OptaJoe tweets: "Wayne Rooney has scored 17 goals in his last 17 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United. Ratio"
    • 42' GOAL! United in front through Wayne Rooney after a Brede Hangeland error! The Fulham man fails to deal with Young's cross and Evans tees up Rooney for a close-range finish.
    • 41' United appeal for a penalty for handball after an Evra cross clatters into Kelly from close range. No penalty, and that's the right decision.
    • 41' Valencia fires a low cross in from the right, but Welbeck cannot latch on to it at the near post.
    • 40' Welbeck gives the ball away, and this one brings a howl of frustration from the crowd. He's been sloppy tonight.
    • 38' Evans and Dembele collide and both players go down. But they will both be fine to continue after a spot of treatment.
    • 37' A few United fans booing John Arne Riise. I know he played for Liverpool, but you really have to want it to find him jeer-worthy, don't you?
    • 36' Giggs makes a decent run down the left channel but Welbeck does not spot him and Fulham win it back.
    • 35' Fulham put together a decent move down their right... but it loses steam and they play it back into their half of their own volition.
    • 34' Yellow card Ryan Giggs for a late challenge on Dembele. Alan Parry thinks it is harsh for some reason, but it's an obvious booking. Let's just give the old man immunity, shall we?
    • 32' Great interplay between Rafael and Valencia on the right - superb pass inside to Rafael who opts to shoot from a tight angle, and it's straight at Schwarzer.
    • 31' Evra nearly scores the worst overhead kick ever. Giggs's low cross loops in the air, Evra shins it goalwards and the ball nearly catches Schwarzer out as it bounces just wide.
    • 30' Almost half an hour gone at a quiet Old Trafford, and United are starting to exert their authority. Evra bursts past his man and wins a corner on the left.
    • 29' Welbeck tees up Young with a lovely backheel - Young spins away from a challenge but cannot force the ball goalwards.
    • 28' Good punch from Schwarzer as he meets a Young cross and swats it out of the penalty box.
    • 27' Young hits a free-kick into the six-yard box from the United left but Hangeland rises highest to head it clear.
    • 26' Valencia's cross from the right loops up off a defender but Rooney cannot get to it. Then Young's pass intended for Evra is blocked. Good defending from Fulham.
    • 25' Ashley Young slides the ball into the box from the left, and Diarra booms it away. Young tries another pass for Welbeck and Hughes puts it out for a corner.
    • 24' Dempsey! He hits a curling shot from the edge of the box and De Gea catches the ball with a dive that looks a bit Hollywood but is very effective.
    • 23' The opportunity comes to nothing, but the ball is soon back with Dembele, probing through the middle.
    • 22' Fulham have certainly had the better of the last 10 minutes and have another chance to attack as they win a free-kick inside the centre circle.
    • 20' Another chance for Fulham as Dempsey jinks into some space and cracks a low shot that De Gea saves well.
    • 19' Giggs tries a raking, 50 yard pass diagonally to Ashley Young, but Kelly beats him in the air.
    • 18' This is a decent spell from Fulham, with Mahamadou Diarra involved. He's a bit long in the tooth these days, but what a player he was at Lyon...
    • 17' Great work from Dembele to scoot past Carrick, but he ignores Pogrebnyak's run and shoots wide from 25 yards.
    • 15' David De Gea's beard is trending on Twitter. Fact. I think he's the Premier League's most Amish-looking footballer.
    • 14' The corner hits a head in the six-yard box and loops high in the air, and De Gea has to punch away from under his bar.
    • 13' Duff crosses low from the right, Dempsey slips but still manages to make contact and the ball goes out off Carrick for a corner.
    • 12' Dempsey finds Frei on the left, but Fulham slow the pace down, allowing United to get back in numbers.
    • 11' Rafael breezes past Frei and clips a cross into the middle for Giggs, whose header does not trouble Schwarzer.
    • 10' Dembele gives the ball away to Rooney inside the Fulham half... Valencia fires a low cross in from the right which is cleared.
    • 9' For a very attacking-looking team selection (Pog, Dempsey, Frei, Dembele, Duff) Fulham have shown very little so far.
    • 8' United bring it forward again with Rooney who tries to find Welbeck in the box, but again the ball does not stick.
    • 7' Evra finds Rooney, who cuts on to his left foot and has his shot blocked.
    • 6' Martin Jol said in his pre-match interview he wanted to play like Athletic Bilbao. Six minutes in and Fulham have hardly touched it.
    • 5' United continue to bring the ball slowly forward. Giggs to the feet of Welbeck inside the box, but the forward miscontrols.
    • 4' Duff gets pushed in the back and win a free-kic, which Fulham play backwards into their own half. A pretty subdued atmosphere early on.
    • 3' United embark on a long spell of possession without working the ball into an attacking area. Eventually Valencia loses possession.
    • 2' Fulham are a massive 14/1 to win tonight. Actually, that's not massive at all. It sounds about right. But it's long odds for a two-horse race if you see what I mean.
    • 1' Off we go! The home team playing from left to right in red shirts, white shorts and black socks. Fulham all in white.
    • 19:59 There's going to be a brilliant half-time treat for you, so stick around...
    • 19:56 @thehappybumbleB tweets: "I hope Fulham can thrash United and play like Bilbao - my prediction- 1-1" while @Louis7Xavier reckons: "man u game: 15th minute goal, 2-0 for man utd at half time and cruising to a 4 nil victory in the end" - very precise. Tweet me - @alexchick81
    • 19:55 Our blogger Jim White (no, not THAT one - give us some credit) tweets: "In a bar in spain for mufc-fulham game and i'm only punter here. Have spaniards not heard prem is where all best football is these days?"
